Opened 10 Xindi Lockboxes - All Items Account Bound

Something strange just happened to me - I bought ten master keys and opened ten Xindi lockboxes. Didn't get anything special, but hey, them's the breaks. The strange thing is when I went to put the mirror escort box I got up on the exchange - it was bound to my account. In fact, all the items I received from the boxes were bound to my account, including the duty officer mini-pack and the mirror escort reward pack, both of which I included screenshots of because as far as I can tell there shouldn't even be any way to bind those items since the only way to interact with them is to open them.

EDIT: Not only that, the Lobi Crystals I got won't stack with the other Lobi Crystals in my inventory, despite the fact that all Lobi are account bound. The Lobi store does read both stacks however.

Nobody has ever experienced this before? I'm afraid to buy any more keys, although maybe I will try just one to see if the problem is repeating itself. The items are entirely bound, opening the bound Duty Officer mini-pack even gave me bound green/white officers.

That looks to be an error. These are supposed to unbound.

A recent change to the way things can stack was added in the last patch. This may have been another 'unintended consequence'.

well, I won't be buying any more keys until this is commented on

I had a similar odd thing, this just happened in the past 5 days

I used to play on one char, who had piled up several rich mining claims. I thought, hey "why not make another char and give him some of the claims". This turned out to be a great idea, worked great. So I made a couple more and redistributed the the claims again. Awesome!

So I decide to make one more char. The claims on my main char are now bound to the character, wth?

So I check some other chars, some are randomly BoA and some are BoC.

    how messed up is that?

@olliereport: How long ago did you get those mining claims? It was only very recently that they became bind to account instead of bind to character, but the change was not retroactive to old claims that you already had; it only applies to new claims gotten from lockboxes after that patch went live, so if you had some old ones they're still bound to character which could explain why you have some that are BoC and BoA, unless you're saying that they went from BoA to BoC after you already transferred them through the account bank to the other characters, in which case that is messed up.

Yeah, I thought it could be something like that. It's hard to say, but most are pre-DR.

The thing that I know for sure though is that I disbursed some from my main, from a single stack that is now BoC, that was previously BoA. Since I only played one char for a while he's sitting on a pile of unrefined ore, the claims are ... not that useful for him.

I remember thinking "hm, ok, these are valuable ... hm, I wonder if there are db errors with the expansion ... I'll just transfer some of them now and do more later when I make more chars". Heh, I wish I had done more!. Since everyone is running out of dilithium now,

EDIT - It's not a crisis, but it is annoying. It's also a bit perturbing, I mean, that's a lot of effort to restrict dilthium, and it's the kind of effort that spawns little bugs here and there. (versioning in a db or in code) They should be a bit more loose with it. It's not like people are somehow magically going to stop upgrading items anytime.

Maybe what happened to me lends a little credit to the OP, duno.

Pre-DR mining claims are supposed to be changed to be bound to account, all mine are pre-DR and are now useable by any character.

No they weren't. It was in the patch notes saying that it didn't apply to previously gained mining claims. There is a way to make them lose the bind but that is a glitch and so not something to be talked about on the forum.

That glitch exist in cryptic's heads only. Many ingame items are bound for no reason including old mining claims.

Well I know there was something unintended with the upgrade kits they gave away, something about people unstacking them and trading them. Not much of a gigantic secret method. But I missed out on that, I miss out on all the glitches, I'm too busy working or playing.

I don't know what happened. I just heard they changed things with the claims, so I went to go check it out and was pleasantly surprised, moused over my stack of claims, and then moved some of them to my account bank. That's it.

I bought three more keys to test things out. I used one on another Xindi lockbox from the same stack and the same thing happened: the duty officer mini-pack came out account bound and the Lobi would only stack with the Lobi from the ten I had opened. I then opened a Tal Shiar lockbox from my bank, and the items were unbound as normal and a Xindi lockbox from the exchange, which was also normal. So, as far as I can tell, something happened to a stack of Xindi lockboxes I had in my bank that rendered all potential items inside account bound (the boxes themselves remained unbound). Very strange.
