With Delta Rising, which is based on Voyager, Captain Proton is one of the more memorable reoccurring thing in the show. Does anyone else want a Captain Proton mission or two?
With cheesy 40s SciFi models for npc, weapons, and even player costume, even if the costume is temporary for the mission only.
AND, must be in black in white. Everything, even the HUD.
Long shot and 100% won't happen, 50s style HUD has well.
ugh, make it optional please, im sorry but hated those capt. proton episodes if for no other reason that "traped in the malfunctioning holodeck" was sooooo old hat by then
I mentioned this a few times, last one being that it could be Hirogen related, they nab the player and do the same thing to them they did in that WW2-ish episode whose name I don't know.
It was asked several time, including (mostly) by foundry authors. If I remember well, the devs (in this case I think it was Taco) said it would be great, but it's very difficult to make it properly, and would ask a lot of time. So, at best, it wouldn't be a single mission, but more probably a whole story arc. So it's not likely to happen.
The main problem, again if I remember correctly, was to "change" the game in black and white for the duration of the mission. Then you had all the assets and costumes to had.

Yikes, I didn't even think about the B&W issue. Depending on how they've coded it, it could be very easy or a freaking nightmare.
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
can't be that big an issue; the color of the enviroment can already be changed, ala triolic wave effect
Filters like that are post-processing effects, which can be disabled, and may need to be disabled on some older computers. The second post Tacofangs linked explains that.

Which is done by a filter being applied if I recall, which doesnt universally work for all people. He isnt saying it cant be done, just that its not 100% reliable
that said, I so want to unleash an army of Satan's Robots on someone in the foundry
Correct, Post-Processing effects, (Like a screen wide B&W effect) are entirely dependent on you having PP turned on on your computer. And if you're on an older laptop, or other older card, you may not even be able to run PP.
SO. . . those people would see a Captain Proton episode in Color . . .
. . . unless we actually BUILT everything in B&W, which is what I've proposed. But it's still going to be a lot of work making a lot of new assets.
Space battle, ground battle, possibly another space battle, in the pattern of a standard mission. A few dialogs, a few choices..the mission could branch out any which way.
The mission reward could be a choice of one of:
His gun
His uniform.
Possibly a doff, I don't know.
You can re-do the mission to get all the items.
That's my thought, now implementing it is a whole different thing. :P

can we maybe at least get a holodeck adventure DOff pack (though you know we really really really want real things so we can make holonovels in the foundry )
"Bride of Chaotica" was one of the best episodes of ST:VOY. The B&W really added to the tone of the piece. Doing something like that for STO would indeed be a real headache for the artists due to the time involved. Making it a one off would still entail a lot of work. And what happens to all the assets coded into the game afterwards?
Still, I really like the idea of a Captain Proton FE for STO. I'd probably spend RL currency for a shot at it. Maybe make it a Foundry Contest?

we seriously need some Captain Proton in here lol!
for real

But it would need to be fairly prominent. Something like an Aniversary event mission, to make it worth while.
Edit: And yes, Black & White is an issue. I've discussed this at length before though:
