Tau Dewa patrols weren't acting right, now they're fixed. No matter what term you or the devs use, fact is we were taking advantage of content that wasn't working as intended. Call it what you will.
.
Then they should have taken care about it b4 release. I want to play and not waist my time.

you invested time, you got back a return, just not as much as you wanted
STO isn't a bank, it is the "entertainment industry". You don't get a return on anything. It's like paying for Chocolate. You don't need to eat Chocolate, and it doesn't make you a better/richer person, but it sure is tasty so you buy it.
Last I checked, the profits from any entertainment industry come from how much the players enjoy the game. If people don't enjoy it they stop playing, or they keep playing and get "Stockholm Syndrome" from addiction.
you all are talking about the skill points... but what about the "invalid skills" and the greyed out purchase button on the specialisations? who ever thinks taking away the spcialisation points is fair, why do you think making it impossible to spend specialisation points is fair too? and why is it fair to invalidate the skills?!
If you went to tau dewa expecting more exp than other similar mission that your a jerk and you deserve to get called out for using an exploit
if you went to tau dewa because you just wanted to run it then you have no expectation to have more rewards, why be mad? you got the exp you were supposed to get, there was no time wasted

Because as a result of this, XP across the board has been nerfed HARD. If its a bug, then it just furthers Cryptic's already stellar QA reputation. If its intentional, then what the (expletive). It just makes an already gruesome slog even more so.
So even though I didn't get hit by the direct action, I'm catching the fallout, and so is everyone else.

Once again: There are people who were "Tau Dewa Grinding" and didn't lose any XP/specialization points, and at same time there are people who lost XP despite not having done any "Japori Grinding" or similar.
This isn't about some exploit/not exploit. This is about there being a very bad bug that came with patch and yet still not a word (even something as simple "We are aware of the situation") from Cryptic regarding the whole mess.
right, let me write this down so I don't forget, bunch of players exploit tau dewa...cryptic are the cheaters
there, my book of illogical statements is almost complete
I actually agree that true exploiters of any game software should be punished, i am amazed that it was actually "fixed" so quickly.
I have not had any punitive action levied against me because i did not take part in any elite content at all, sure baffles me why anyone else in same boat had action taken against them, at best cryptic needs to improve their aim, or just start packing pulsewaves instead of sniper rifles.
Blow trumpets and wave flags all you want, but if people truly lost points who weren't involved in the alleged exploit you cant defend them without tossing your own credibility to the wind.
Anyway, i wasn't involved in any elite content by choice, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway, i seem to spend more time rearranging my everchanging power tray than actually flying anywhere to think about getting anything done.
My sig is actually misleading as i have been around with the toons i play since the game launched
and have had batteries and skills jumping off power trays since about that same time.
Perhaps when someone reports it as an "exploit" ill get it fixed.

Oh for Q's sake are we really going to keep crying about this?

Don't get me wrong, it's still Cryptic's fault - this was a known issue reported on Tribble, and it should have been patched up there. That doesn't absolve us of exploiting it, though.
how do f could we know, it was like that from the moment they put that sector in the game!?!
Exploit is a word used by developers to blame players because they do not test or playtest their own software well enough before releasing it. Many many bugs have been reported over the past years, many still not solved.
If RD was released after proper testing all this shaming the player base to be exploiters, was never happenend. In fact who is being exploited? Only people can be exploited. Fast leveling does not harm the game or the developers.
Whats wrong in understanding the game mechaniscs and using them, to build better ships, level faster, etc. How does a player known the amount of XP gained was not at the pace intended. Some don't read forums, just play.
Calling players exploiters, rollback progress, people reporting loss of items, dilli, reputation, sklillpoints, levels were taken away etc does that help the game? What about disappointed players who leave the game. They will not spend money on sto anymore.
It's a no-go to remove items or progress from a player.
if you went to tau dewa because other players told you it was way more exp than other patrols than blame THEM for what happened
Consider carefully what you're saying here. Is it exploitative when ppl seek out the missions/patrols that give them the best rewards?! By your warped logic, even doing a mission on Elite is an exploit!

Zactly! How the hell was I supposed to know the NPC (I solo-ed) wasn't supposed to give 1,200 XP?! He had been giving that for years. Was I supposed to go like "Hmm, 1,200, that doesn't sound right. I must clearly be exhibiting exploitative behavior!"?!

Even though nerfing XP rewards is pretty lame all by itself, it's absolutely over-the-top to rob ppl of hundreds of K in skillpoints, merely for solo-ing age-old storyline missions.

And that time has an opportunity cost attached to it. Cryptic is responsible for the false pretense that people operated under the auspices of.
If it is being advertised as having more xp than other missions, then you are simply acting rationally by going there.

advertised by whom? the exploiters? I must have missed it when cryptic told people to specifically do patrols I tau dewa because it gives more exp
if you went to tau dewa because other players told you it was way more exp than other patrols than blame THEM for what happened
Nope, not going away! They stole 300,000 skill points from me, and I wasn't involved in any shady team activity, or anywhere near Tau Dewa.
Meanwhile we got a cold "You guys will have to be satisfied with the answer Trendy gave you." from bluegeek. Yeah, no.
