This is "I did not buy the ship or ships because I did not like the way they looked"
I for one like the Dautless and the Guardian. Sad because the Dautless is not a real fed ship on tv and I am a escort guy. I'm just not happy with the look of the 3 other fed ships! They don't look fed and I hate neon lights:) Will I buy one? Once I lvl all my gear to epic I may. Just because the power is so much better. But I'm waiting to see the fleet versions and also hoping maybe Cryptic will put out new design variants. I just don't know who is designing these ships. They must love 80's dance clubs with neon floors. Look at the intelligence officers. I think I met one at a rave party 20 years ago! Complete with the glasses!
#2 T5s are just as good, was using T4 ships in the "old elites" (before the lvl50 power creep)
and the pattern seems to work the same for me as it did back then.
I like the Guardian, and, like both the Scryer and Eclipse...Not much of an escort fan. I like both Romulan birds and, like the raptor the KDF gets. Sort of neutral on the battle cruiser.
Could only afford one; narrowed it down to the Guardian or, Eclipse. I chose the Guardian. Will, eventually, get others. Though, I'm in no real rush to do so.
Nope! I didn't buy the Delta Pack because of how bad the Guardian Class looked. I mean honestly, that ship looks like the Galaxy Class's "Special" cousin. But I am saving Zen/Dilithium to grab one of those Fed Intel Ships. I'm thinking the Eclipse Cruiser.
I bought the Phantom and it's pretty bad TRIBBLE. You can put them in the classic hull materials so thy look less tron-y.
I wasn't sold on the Eclipse but after seeing it I may get one.

It wasn't the ONLY reason, but yes, the fugly was a big factor in staying T5U. That and I had only one T5U on my account that didn't upgrade by itself, so that meant a minimal dilithium/Zen outlay.

I held off on buying the pack because of the looks of the ships, hoever when it was apparent that this was the only way to get the traits for the ships I stumped up the Zen.
And now that I have them I actually have to say that they have grown on me.
You can mix and match nacelles etc and actually some of the beta models are not too bad. Plus u can run with all sorts of hull materials (along with allowing your gear visuals to override the crappy intel skins).
However.
The dauntless is an AWFUL ship.
Lt AND LTC tac. on a ship that has 3/3 weapons. Total waste of time and clearly put together by someone who never plays the game.

So am I the only one?
For your information, you can ignore the "neon/tron" style intelligence skins and use all the standard Federation materials. ANd I think they look pretty neat with that. Here is a thread with pictures (and links to an image gallery) of the Phantom and the Eclipse with Material 6 (the white hull material with the TNG-deflector-colors).
To the OP: I can enjoy a wide variety of ship styles, and do. I can even suffer some that I find less-than-attractive. However, you are spot-on! I will not buy these T6 ships because they are terribly ugly IMO. The only ones I even slightly considered were the evolved Defiant and the evolved Rom Warbird. However, for the stats they offer the looks juuuuuuuuuust don't quite cut it. The evolved Defiant is a dinner plate. The evolved warbird is a B5 Whitestar. While maybe I could live with it, other things including the over pricing and other aspects of the game recently have made me pull my financial support.
I also cancelled my subscription recently because of these and similar reasons. I'm voting with my wallet.
In the context of "it's just a darn game" i am glad it's there, odd that is SHOULD have been since launch though since Voyager DID scan it...
In the context of "how was it found 'somewhere in the delta quadrant' ", where? in Borg Space? in space debris? uh, crashed structure? hidden base? lol
regardless it's not for me, but it's cool that it is there. i guess ... lol
the other side of it, some of the Level 55 mastery traits are pretty awesome, like on the phantom every time you dodge 10% reduction of BO abilities. So even if you don't like the ships you can get one that has a cool trait and use it on a ship that you like. Granted to spend 3000 zen for a trait is a little much even if its cool, I'm waiting on the next hybrid BO to come out since this was only wave 1, and who knows what else aside from intelligence will be brought to T6.
i am still waiting till they rool out all the ships, they stated before DR was out a few months ago they might not have them ALL ready on launch, they may vary well have like 10 more still being built lol
The only one I like (and bought) is the Romulan Intel Escort. I'd love a Fed version, but the one presented is, IMO, rather hideous. The Fed intel cruiser is OK, but I'd rather play escorts.
The Klingon cruiser looks like it had its nacelles replaced with popsicles.
The BOFF layouts and abilites were very appealing, but the ship outer-hull design were not appealing to me. If the ship doesn't look good, I won't buy it.
I did not, specifically due to the "aesthetically challenged" nature of the new designs. Instead I bought t5 ships and upgraded them. The new designs fell out of the south end of a camel.
Me. Just making things flat is lazy design. These are three dimensional objects. Why would I want to fly something that looks like a flattened beer can? The Guardian just looks like an awkward skin of a Galaxy. Not impressed at all with any of the design. As usual, any number of fan designs look much better. If just a couple of them looked nice, I would have bought the pack. On the other hand, Cryptic saved me a lot of money.
I didn't buy them, because I like flying my one ship, I've been using for since I've reached lvl 50 with my character, like a year ago, and don't want to change it. I've simply prefered to keep it to one ship, and the fact the new ships are ugly evenmoreso, enforced my personal feel, to stick with my ship and not get the new ones.
So, their appearance was a factor, but not entirely.

I bought them specifically BECAUSE I LIKED the change from the typical designs; they feel more modern (Guardian primarily, but the others do to varying degrees as well). Though there was an episode or two where fancy "stealth" armor/designs were used as part of the episode plot.
If it's just the colors you're complaining about, that can be changed.
I do hope for some more original designs; both in Intel lolStealth and in a modern traditional (Odyssey, Vesta, Avenger, Guardian) designs.

Nicely stated, that is another one of my gripes when it comes to some of the designs, they are so lazy looking design. Ive seen so many fan designs that look far better than that of some of the Cryptic designs.
I generally don't like Cryptic's designs, but the new ships-Intel ships in particular, look so awful it boggles my mind. The Vengeance was an ugly ship, in a bad movie, so Cryptic trying soooo hard to cash in on that film by making not one, but three Vengeance look-alikes does nothing to interest me.
I don't care that the hull materials can be changed-I have seen some people flying around with alt hull materials, and it doesn't get rid of the horrible angular hulls, or the general design oddities that plague T6 intel ships.
The T6 non-intel Rom ship looks OK, because Cryptic seems to have finally grasped that one of the things that made Romulans popular was the aesthetics of the D'deridex, so instead of making another obese, bucktoothed penguin ship, they copied the D'D and tweaked it, which almost makes me want to fly it, but as long as its parts can't be swapped out for D'D parts, and it isn't available in fleet-grade, my interest is too small to spend $30 on it.
A lot of folks like the Guardian because it looks a little bit like the Ambassador class concept art, but I'd personally take the Galaxy, Ambassador, or the concept art ambassador over that thing. It follows the usual Cryptic rule of 'ruin a good design by making it too busy' Too many raised hull sections, a staircase on the 'neck' between the saucer and engineering, etc. Too many little things going on for me to be interested.
Basically, until I can get T6 versions of my existing ships like the D'deridex and Nebula, the only reason I'd buy T6 would be for the traits.

Purchased:
Command Bort
Battle cruiser
Mogh
TAC Oddy
Andorian charal
Falcheon warbird
Upgraded battle cruiser and mogh to fleet (obviously)
This should hold me for a good long time.
I note that at $25/each, I still got more for my money than the pack had to offer.
So, their appearance was a factor, but not entirely.

I WILL however buy one if they adjust the "costume" settings so we can use T5 and under parts on them(From their respective classes).
I mean if I can make the T6 escort look like a Defiant Class escort I will HAPPILY buy one.
But these things are just ugly.
That being said, I did buy the Dauntless, it looks far more "Starfleet" than the other ships.
