Whoever is responsible for the graphics can't tell if the Vaadwar ships are comming or going. The shield facings are backwards on half the Vaadwaur ships so when you shoot down the shields, the other side goes down.

It looks like the firing nodes for their signature weapons. If you've fought them, you probably know what they are. (But I'm not sure why they censored them, it's not like that weapon is their big secret)

Great job on all the NPC ships. It couldn't have been easy to make so many of them.

I think those are the signature weapons ports. I thank the Devs for a great implementation of the Vaadwaur. The first time I got hit with those weapons I was like, WTF why am I dead (BoP captain at the time). Was hilarious!

Thank you for reporting this! This should not be happening, as it was bugged and fixed. I will check in with QA. Again, thanks!

[EDIT] This is fixed and going in with a near future patch!

Nice blog, thank you. I enjoy these blogs :)

The ships do look awesome. You guys did a great job. And its neat that we get to see one of the ships landed. You can get a better understanding of the ship's scale, and also how big the rest of Vaddwaur ship types are, by comparison.

i really liked their ships in game, and the unique approach to their weapons. they have no beams, but their single cannons are all heavy single cannons, and their turrets have the stats of beam arrays, and fire from beam array hardpoints.

at first i thought their ships were prototypes for side mounted weapons tech, but you get to use one of them in a mission and see their weapons on the ship equipment window.

with these concept pictures pointing out mister hardpoints on the sides, i think i might have been on to something after all.

and ya its that battleship npc that has its shield facing displaying backward. if you shoot them in the TRIBBLE, it look like their front shield is weakening, but its actually showing the status of the rear shield. its not the front facing actually taking damage.

They look very tough. Good job on making them just going by the fighters. I hadn't faced them yet in battle or saw one in game. But I'm looking forward into seeing them.

I like how these ships turned out very much. When I got to fly the frigate, I just sat there and stared at it for a bit. Love the engine trail fx as well. Good stuff.

Just to make sure, are you sure about this? I've never seen this happen. Are you sure that the ships arent just redistributing shield power? All of the Vaadwuar frigates tend keep their fore shields up, so they'll transfer shield power from their other shield facings, Birds of Prey also do this.

Also personally I think that the so called 'Artillery' ships should have actually been some kind of long range artillery. They could have been as stupidly defensive as they are now, but instead of normal weapons they had just one forward facing uber lazer the fires like 15-20km like how it looks in the 4th picture.

Seeing as he got a dev post on the first page confirming it as well as having a fix for it coming soon, I'm going to go with him being sure about it. ;)

The Vaadwaur vessels at the beginning were like the Borg vessels were for Picard, extremely hard to figure out how to kill them, which is a testament to the design team. Their tactics seem to emulate that of an Imperial Armada where all the smaller ships attack forward while the big ones take big pot shots at you with those blast cannons. Those tric mines are totally deadly and thankfully I have tractor repulse and normally return them to sender. There seems to be two class of ships, normal and Interdictor. The normal assault vessels are relative easy once you get the rhythm down but the Interdictor series is really hard to grasp at first and puts you right on the defense. The only thing I have found is that they don't like the Hazari Plasma weapons from the lockbox. They seem to be very effective. I haven't tried thoron but I am getting there.

btw what kind of weapons DO the Vaadwaur uses? Bullets like the T-116 or some sort of new energy?

All I know is that heavy battleship that Vaadwaur have that cloaks sends out assault vessels is fun to take them all down including that heavy battleship. They have a weakness, but only with that alien race though.

Building the vaadwaur.. isn't that when a papa vaadwaur and a mamma vaadwaur hold hands?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I have fallen in love with these ships, especially after you get to take one out for a joy ride, they just look deadly as well as being able to give you a good kicking.

So i have to agree the idea of you being able to pick one up would be a great addition to my ships.

    Thanks for the write-up!

The attention to detail is fantastic and the progressive renders really do show how something like the artillery ship came together over time(the removal of nacelles and evolution of the port batteries).

As a side note, that ship really does fuel my desire for playable broadsiders!

He is correct indeed. When you down the rear facing of the Artillery vessel and start hitting only hull (yellow damage numbers), the visual for the facing is still there and the one in front disappears. The shield facings on the ship targetting icon show correctly however. (Or, maybe I remember wrong and it's the icon that shows them wrong and the shield facing visuals are correct? Either way, one of them is bugged.)

Btw I like those larger ships (not so much the attack vessel and attack cruiser). Particularly the dreadnoughts you get to see in all their glory when flying undercover in a REDACTED ship and closing on the planet. Sadly, you don't get to fight them much at all.

From the moment I encountered them in game I suspected it, and this imo essentially confirms it. Vaadwaur cap ships are the first in game with broadside weapons.

Expect to see T6 broadsiding cruisers down the track.

Yeah, it seems to be a hybrid polaron/kinetic according to the stacked resistance I'm getting with Shield Harmonic Resonance.

Btw. a lockbox with at least some of these is definitely incoming. If you finished all the Delta Q. missions, you should know why.

There are precedents for that. It may be the next lockbox or the one after it, but Vaadwaur ship(s) are incoming.
