There are no shenanigans. Period. The Devs felt that powerlevelling in Tau Dewa was exploitave behavior and are removing it temporarily.
Either deal with it or uninstall the game.
It was the dil farming not the power leveling that they picked up on. 2880 dil every 10 mins. Hell yeah anyone with half a brain would be doing that, especially with the cost of upgrading items and Rep/Fleet gear.
Amusingly it's not an exploit, it was working as intended, just not the way the top brass intended.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
As we discussed in another post today, making alts a painful process is exactly what they want. Why do they want this? One word; money.
They know people love alts and they want you to make as many as you want. They also know that there are a lot of people out there like you who want to buy things for all your characters. Just look at what has been happening over the last couple of years. We have timegate after timegate after timegate. Now they've introduced the R&D system with... timegates. However, how is it different than the Rep systems? You can "Finish Now" by paying Dil in the R&D system. It's only a matter of time before you see the "Finish Now" creep into fleet projects, rep projects, dailies etc. all for a sizeable chunk of Dil which they intend for you to fork over the cash for.
Well said. And in all probability an accurate assessment. However if true their plan backfires with me because I'm finding the whole DQ grind laborious at the very least. So far there has been one mission that stands out as exceedingly well done (*no spoilers here *) but the rest is patrols, or go here do this, click that, rinse repeat content. That actively discourages me from taking another character through it all.
The grind and the time gates is just beating me at the moment. I was hovering on the brink of buying the Delta Quadrant Ops pack but to be quite honest I now don't see a good reason to do so.
I think its the feeling I'm given of being a naughty child being told not to run by my parents that I'm beginning to resent. That and the combination of the grind and the incessant trail of either re-released or new bugs is making me think its time for a break, as many people often recommend.
Thanks for the stipend Cryptic, that's all I will be spending for a while.
So is it just the Japori map that's closed, or is it all the tau dewa sector patrol maps that closed? I have one guy nearly finishing his rom rep, and another who has just reached 50 and ready to start it.
And what was the Japori map? I don't remember what you do in that mission.

You bore yourself to tears by only shooting at weak targets. Unfortunately doing so grands much more skill points than running the for this purpose created new contend would. Since many of us have multiple alts which are supposed to be kept at endgame this patrol grave at lest a time/progress ratio worth doing and that by itself is sad but as it is.. erm was.

Everyone's ****ing doing it. So either this is a different issue or Cryptic is actually blind to their own metrics...
I wasn't doing it. Didn't miss out on much, I think. I just did 'Shutdown' on Elite, at DS9, and reached lv 60 the next day.
And why did I kill those unending waves of NPC? "Because they were there!" I didn't put them there, Cryptic did: I just killed em. And I was under the (now naive) impression that Cryptic put them there for me to kill. Little did I know that, a few days later, the devs would decide that leveling up the way you want to would be branded 'exploitive.'
This was the players backlash against the massive grind fest that DR is. Yes, slowing down the way levels go up in order to keep us occupied more was a good fine idea, but then adding the equivalent of 50 extra levels after level 60 while making the XP gained while playing so low created this whole problem.

I will reserve judgement until the results of this investigation have been shared.
If there is factual proof actual exploits are going on, something far beyond groups of players meeting for a patrol, then I hope they get what's coming to them frankly. I don't personally care how anyone plays the game but no need to ruin it for everyone.
Which begs another question...
If a player starts a new ROM toon, are they unable to progress through the missions, due to being unable to reach Tau Dewa destinations? (Aside from new Romulus.)
I own LoR, already leveled my ROM FED-aligned toon to lvl 51. No worries there. Except if/when I want to play the now-locked out sector.
But you have to wonder how this may be impacting other players...
Bottom-line here: by locking out content which is paid for, by reducing rewards (such as the recent XP pack 3,000 to 1,000 reduction), etc. are the players (aka customers) going to file a class action lawsuit? Purely speculative.
And don't give the "F2P" argument. If you can't play with your paid items (LoR, for example), then you're being purposefully denied use of your purchase, imho.
Some folk need to learn to pick their battles. This isn't one they are going to win.
Everybody... already lost.
The expectation isn't that we will "win"...,
It's that we will "loose less", with our expressions of disappointment.

Ooooh... the L-Word. This will get edited soon.
PWE/Cryptic have in their ToS a nifty feature called "indemnification". Basically it's legal jargon for immunity. Everyone does it. Prevents the customer from getting all suit-happy whenever they see something they don't like. Sh**** way of covering your six, but it's allowable under law.
If you want to hurt them, hurt their bottom line.
WELL IF THE JAPORI INCIDENT HAS TAUGHT ME ANYTHING, IT'S THAT MY EXISTENCE IS AN EXPLOIT. THANKS CRYPTIC.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.
Other than New Romulus, it's closed.
