I can say this by far in my opion is the wprst release of STO on a upgrade. Many and i mean many erros bugs and issues witht he relase. From what i have been told and heard many of ti was reported during testing and never fixed fully. I counted 2 maybe 3 patches so far in game and not many of the issues have been fixed yet. Now i am not creating a rage post but STO needs think of having a certain number of players that does masive testing and checking for erros and issues that doesnt require Tribble Gold memeber only area to do it. a Test team for this kinds stuff that could be testing the next majot update when this hordie mess gets fixed. The more eyes and testing you have goin on the More you catch before release date.
Let's also see, unable to complete even the first mission in the releases story arc due to bugs and bad servers, no instructions on where to find all the unnecessarily separated components of a $125.00 DR pack, and excessively excessive server repair time and frequency.
At this rate they could have written DR during all the down time.
What game are you playing, the only mission I had trouble with was the bridge one from Kobali zone, then it took me about 2 minutes to get an invite to a working zone. Servers only have crashed twice, each time you could log right back in, just a normal DC, unless you count patching the servers as bad servers. It's pretty obvious where to get all the DR stuff, use your head for something other than a spacebar masher
The ironic thing is how well praised the Tuesday release was on Tuesday. That's impermanence for you!
I don't know of any MMO that has had a flawless release, and the more ambitious, the buggier. Whether in game, or in real life (Think US health care), with any major changes comes major adjustments, and some unintended consequences.
sorry fan boys when they ignore known bugs found in tribble it's just plane stupid. THis is an MMO they don't need to set release dates. If something takes longer fine. Look at KOTOR2 that6 was rushed to release and failed to live up to the first game. company exces need to go. Get the game right then release. all memebers of my lfeet said this expansion was rushed.
Yeah, I don't have any complaints about bugs. I haven't had any trouble logging in, any stability issues, no disconnects... the were content bugs with the Kobali zone, but they're the sort of thing I expect from a major release and they've mostly been fixed.
While I hear some people are experiencing crashes and that sucks, this has been quite smooth for a major STO update.
My complaints are about things that are working as intended... badly.

Of course they need release dates. Known release dates trigger players returning to see what is new in the game, and will affect sales figures for Zen.
Also, releasing earlier but with bugs still means that a lot of people get to experience new content - how many players actually will experience the bug and be blocked by them? That is so far a minority (but of course you'll see them on the forums).
If they wait a few extra weeks to get more bugs fixed, the main result is that people don't get to see any of the new content. Instead most people see new content and a few get blocked from it by some bugs.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Oh believe me, I'm not a fan boy, things I've been hoping they would fix for years are still broken, bugs they've added with recent seasons are still there. This game has turned into a travesty and their excuses for not fixings things just don't cut it. That and the direction the game seems to be evolving is killing my interest.
I'm looking at this expansion with apathy, I don't really care anymore, I might play once in a while but I doubt I'll be spending any more money on it.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
The expansion hasn't been that bad in mistakes. The only problems I've come across (aside from yesterday's crash and then shutting down the game for a few hours for a patch) is the balance, where they're making it way too tough for normal fleet actions, but my guess is that they'll eventually fix this. If not, then, well, guess I'll join you in the next game created by people who actually fix things that are broken. But I suspect it won't come to that, I say in a very passive-aggressive way.

I have to agree with others, I haven't had many problems, in fact the only one comes to mind is a crash the first time I did Borg Disconnected.
To be honest. Your experience is probably the typical one. I haven't had my in game friends complain much. But I have seen them talk about their shiny new ships. :P
As usual people are having a go at typos and people not using spell check. I only come on here on my phone so no spell check and lots of typos lmao.
As for needing to re-open testing too F2P it wont make much difference. Because im F2P and was one of the LoR early invited testers and they did not fix most bugs that i reported up to 6 mths after the realse of LoR. There is still one bug in the game that i reported that sticks in my mind when u visit ur Roms bridge ur most likely to see the opsit factions NPC on ur bridge then ur own faction.
The problem is craptic have to stick to a dead line not set by them thats why more and more releases get pushed to server with bugs that never get fixed. e,g crafting what a #f# up that is lvl 15 passives still not working some stuff still not getting the mods that were advertised by craptic before it was pushed too early to holodeck.
Now i bet at lest 3/4 of the dev team are working on the next season instead of spending the 1st mths after a release chasing down bugs. The devs clam that they can do both at the same time but any player thats been here for 2 years or more know thats a load of balls.
Yes i agree that they should set more time for testing and yes they should let a few none P2W (F2P) guys test there stuff on tribble then they probly would not get thread after thread of forum rage.
This is ment to be a F2P game so a few F2P players need to test it simple to me any way.
Ex-F2P tribble tester for 3 seasons + early invited tester of LoR.
While not smooth, this so far has not been a Season 4. That was the terror season hopefully never to be repeated in the games lifetime.
I absolutely hate the idea of releases with bugs that they will fix 'in the live,' it frives me to aggravation. But pretty much all the MMO companies do it. I just wish they wouldnt have the tight production turn around culture that seems to have pervaded cryptic for so long when at this point I have to say that pretty much ANY deadline that gets set needs another month added on for each major system being introduced, at the least

Clearly you haven't been playing long if you think this is the worst release.

Only part in your post that mattered

this is one of cryptics smoothest launches, the surver didn't go down. no crashes
and there isnt a 500 page long rage thread saying everyone is locked out (for once)
the Artwork i Blazing! The ground combat.....Brilliant, Voices, Out of the park. new powers and ships.... fun
complaints
1) space combat ( Bad hull scaling)
2) dilithium based upgrade system
3) free ships not upgradable
one piece of evidence that this is a "good" launch is the thank you posts to cryptic team

If you check the support forums you'll find there are plenty of people who can't currently play the game due to crashes!
