Has anyone having any trouble with their ships moving foward..it seems that the ship I am using is somewhat stuck it only moves left and right or it just moves soooo slow.
Yes, i had problems with that. My ship will turn but it will not go forwards or backwards, not even using full impulse. That will last about a few seconds, then everything will come to normal again. But i dont suffer it since time ago, anyways i dont care about these issues anymore, im tired of experimenting bugs everywhere.. lol, its better to just let em go.. (at this point, its useless to even report em).
Sounds strange to say, but check your ship consoles. Maybe you're missing an impulse engine?
Lol.. nah. As i said, after a few seconds everything was normal again. And yes i checked i wasnt under the influence or some buff or watever. It was just another bug.

Have a good day.

If you have this issue it may be an idea to post which engine you are using on which ship as if I recall there was an issue with one specific engine not actually working. I believe it was one of the combat impulse engines which came as a mission reward but can't recall which one.

Well, i dont think thats the case, the bug was that suddenly you cant move or use full impulse, but after a while you can. If the engines were broken you will never be able to move. But maybe it is a half broken engine. Probably, since i changed it time ago and i never suffered these problems again. But i never knew what was the problem.
Posting here since I cannot create new threads after a MONTH of being added to the forum. Sheesh how long do you have to be here before you can post??!!!
Before, I had the same problem as above, where sometimes my ship would just quit moving. Usually this seemed to be because of the transition to combat when I was in Full Impulse mode. The workaround was always to shut down the engines completely then raise the speed back up with the slider or E. That was annoying but at least it worked.
Now, no matter what, I can't move forward when I am in a system. I can warp and fly in Sector Space just fine, but in a system I will drift at approximately 0.1 kps and only be able to turn normally. I'm measuring that speed against objects which are themselves moving, but that seems to be what is happening. Evasive Maneuvers gives me the boost to turning as normal, but no boost in speed.
I contacted support and after trying everything they suggested and more I was told to file a bug report. Apparently the support people can't be bothered to file bug reports, or they are unable to do so. At least the description should be reasonably accurate. The only step I forgot to include here was I did try changing instances/maps and that did nothing for my problem. The bug report and what stuff I did follows:
----
System details: Intel I7 4710HQ quad core processor, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M with 4GB DDR5
On or about New Year's Eve for this year I was playing STO and everything was working as normal. Then I proceeded to the mission where you meet Naomi Wildman http://sto.gamepedia.com/Mission:_Neutral_Zone_Diplomacy ... there again everything worked as normal and I could fly fine. I picked up the mission http://sto.gamepedia.com/Mission:_Salvaged_Relationships_in_the_Neutral_Zone and proceeded as normal to Ker'rat System.
As soon as I entered Ker'rat System, my ship was adrift. When I hit full impulse it didn't shoot forward like it always had. Moving to different settings in impulse did not change that. I seemed to be moving at about 0.1 kps toward whatever, but I could be wrong about that since everything is moving. I warped out of there several times and back in, with the same results. I had previously sometimes had trouble with my ship getting "stuck" when it entered combat and the workaround had always been to shut down my impulse engines and raise the speed back up with the slider or E rather than trying to hit full impulse. That didn't work here. My Evasive Maneuver skill did affect turning as normal but did nothing to my speed.
At some point in the adventure one of the players in that system invited me to some kind of mission where you defend Starbase 24 from Klingons. The problem persisted there. When it was over I was once again able to fly fine in sector space, but not inside any systems. I thought, and initially reported, that I did not have that problem in other systems. That seems to have been wrong and definitely isn't the case now.
Although my system is capable to run this game at the highest graphic settings with absolutely no slowdown, I went through and set everything to the lowest settings and tried again. The problem persisted.
I contacted support and they had me do the following, in order:
1) Ensure that I had warp and impulse engines equipped. I did and that's why I was able to warp and fly around in sector space I would imagine. problem persisted.
2) Force Verify the patches on my install - I did that on 1/3/2015 with no errors - problem persisted.
3) Delete gameprefs.pref - there turned out to be two of these and although one was probably a backup or something I deleted both.
I had found a few reports of this sort of thing happening to other people before, like this one: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=2248164 . I didn't find a solution though and support had no answers for further troubleshooting. They told me to file a bug report, so this is the bug report. I think it's kind of dumb taht support can't file bug reports and has to ask customers to do it, since they have more information than we do (or should) and when I was in support that was kind of part of the job. I would have filed this sooner but I didn't have time. Meanwhile, even after another round of patches this morning (01-10-2015) the problem persists as described.
I am very frustrated not being able to play STO for so long and not having any answers. I was just about to throw some money at it when this happened, which is kind of sad. I have no problems with any other 3D games at all including other MMORPGs from Cryptic.
Incidentally the search feature for bugs within STO shows absolutely nothing so it must be broken.

Looks like the other thing I left out was that according to forum searches this is not only not the only case where this happened, but it is something people have experienced for years and basically quit over. Like this guy: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=2248164
Unlike that guy I can actually fight. It's actually funny but even though I can only turn I can still destroy three Klingon ships swarming me at once.
One other thing I forgot to include in my bug report was that I am on Windows 8.1 64 bit .. I must have gotten distracted looking for utilities to get the other data. If I can find my bug report I will update it or something. Meanwhile does anyone else have any suggestions?

Do you like this game? Do you want it to get better? Put your money where your mouth is! Go for the Gold!
It turns out that even though my ship showed it had engines equipped, and mousing over them showed what kind of impulse engine, the system didn't actually believe what it was telling me. That is, when I moused over it again today, I noticed a message in the specs on that engine saying "This engine is installed on another ship."
What ship it is installed on I have no idea, because I have no other ships. So it's a bug. Luckily I had another impulse engine in my inventory and equipped that. The other engine disappeared. Now I can fly again. I guess in the future it's not enough to make sure the engines are equipped, you need to equip a whole other engine to be sure the system isn't lying.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles
