I stop giving Cryptic money 2 years ago... No real new content for the KDF nor there's any new real content for PvP at all...
The Mogh Battle Cruiser i got is from surplus dilithium i gather during that time, same it will be for the Mat'ha Raptor as well...
Until i see any improvements in more higher Tier ships for the KDF (both Indigenous and Alien-Align) and new real PvP content (Modes, Dynamics, Maps, etc) i will not spend any money til those areas are improved which i will not expect any time at all, after seeing the past 4 years of Cryptic handling.
I spend less and less everytime they add a new way to milk people.
To me most everything in the CStore is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced. No worth $20 - $30 real dollars.
If the prices in the CStore went down, I would likely spend $10-20 a month easily. As it stands now, my feeling is that PWE wont see a dime from me. Ill just buy something when I've converted enough dilith to Zen.
Oh you spend $0 and think that it is actually worth more than $0 ... I see. We are talking about entertainment value as measured in real adult $$ not your imaginary time value. Go try to get cable tv by grinding it kid. Your freeplay grinder time in this game is worth $0 to everybody.

I've spent a lot preparing for DR upgrades, and you know why I spend? Because I don't have time to grind, but because of my time shortage i have money to spend. Supply/demand, relative value.
Whew, 8 months gold, then bought a LTS, then spend $20-80 a month on zen. Been around since march 2012 so a bit spent here.
As to the amount spent for one ship?
I have spent close to that trying to get a Wells, finally did as suggested and sold my keys and bought one. It is an okay ship, but after all that effort it can't live up to the expectation.
Meanwhile on opening boxes at random I got an orb weaver and an adapted destroyer. I rolled toons just for those ships and love them. So just be careful you don't spend too much on a lockbox ship

I usually buy a 10 pack of keys a month. I have a handful of MU ships, stacks of DOFFS, tons of lobi and so many rich mining claims, I could go months and still not use them.
since lockboxes came out I've opened, I dunno 200-300 boxes and came up with one grand prize, a Nicor... which I have yet to open.
I guess it really depends on how dedicated you are to the cause, and how your luck holds out. I really do it as a side project back when I needed dil for Omega projects, and I managed 1 grand prize.

I tell you all something, there are games out there you buy them only once and it's your game and everything is unlocked from the beginning! really true, believe me. and you don't have to pay each month any fees. lol

Starting to feel like a fool here. Specifically talking about spending real money to buy zen, then spending it on lockbox keys. Spent $200 on zen then poured most of it into opening only Xindi lockboxes. No Xindi Aquatic Dreadnought. Then I spent another $200 a few days later and this time used it ONLY to open Xindi lockboxes. STILL no ship!
So my question to you all is this: is it WORTH it??? I'm probably the reason why STO Gamepedia posts percentages next to the lockbox items. I waged a long and protracted war with the devs about the legal ramifications of taking REAL money from people and not telling us what our chances are of getting a certain items. Perhaps others did too.
The fight began because I was angry at how much I spent back in the day trying to unlock the Voth Bastion Cruiser. Now here I am again. So if I'm a fool spending real money on these guys, please tell me. I'm a big man and can take criticism.
been playing after ftp, bought a lifetime account for 200 on sale, have made 16 level 50 toons , I have fleet or lockbox ships on every toon did buy not buy any of them with usd's just played the game and bought everything from the exchange
I could have bought the voth ship but bought a wells intead...if you know how to play you don't have to pay cash for anything especially lock box ships, currently sitting on 19k zen 1 million Dil and 500 million ec...once you know the tricks..it pays being in a fleet like ours where we share tricks and tips with each other on TS.
I can show you how to get your xindi ship or any other lock box ship just like I have trained most of the members in our fleet...its not hard to do once you know how...and no I am not typing it out here lol

Not spending money to buy lockboxes, but I *did* just buy 21,500+ Zen, to get me some Dilithium and extra EC to buy all those upgrade techs. I figured: either I quit now, or invest some more to keep up.

And what if he gets more pleasure out of sto than a vacation? The time he spends on sto might be of more value to him than sitting on a beach.
