In anticipation for Delta Rising, we’re hosting our Research and Development Bonus Weekend from now until September 29th at 10AM PDT. The event features several bonuses throughout STO that will give Captains of all levels a leg up advancing their rank in the Research and Development school(s) of their choice. Earn Catalysts, Materials, Dilithium, and more from now till September 29th at 10AM PDT!

Read more details about the event here.

Alternatively, Captains wanting to advance through Research and Development schools as fast as possible should seek out Harvest Nodes, located in mission maps throughout STO, which will not only disperse 2 extra R&D Materials each time they are used, but will also reward 10 Dilithium Ore and have a chance to give out a R&D Catalyst during this event.

Never heard of those- do they appear on the UI maps ?

They don't show up on the UI map, but the Harvest Nodes are where you look for anomalous readings to do the Scanning Minigame that rewards crafting materials. The most likely place you would have encountered them if you weren't looking would be in the Exploration Clusters, back when we were still explorers to some extent. Currently, they show up in Episodes, Patrols, etc. (in both Ground and Space maps) and provide a secondary source of materials, though during this Research and Development Weekend you have a shot at a R&D Catalyst. Then again, the Normal/Advanced R&D Material Reward Packages also have a shot at a R&D Catalyst.

OK, good- I loot those anomalous readings everytime I see them.

For example the tau dewa patrol mission. You can gather interesting samples in those systems.

Would have been nice if you kept the research kit crafting XP somewhere near the amount it was worth on Tribble, but I guess thats to much to ask. We were only told per Al during his recorderd interview with P1 podcast that it should take around, and I quote "about as long as it takes to max out a rep system" (ie 40 days) to go from lvl 0 to lvl 20 in a crafting school... How is the current system capable of doing this, without dumping a whole paycheck into your pockets? Everything that would have made the grind more bearable you have written off as a bug, or seriously nerf hammered the TRIBBLE out of, when it hits the live server. You say that your ultimate goal is to make the game fun and challenging for the players. Let me give you some solid feedback... the game ISN'T fun when the only thing being challenged is my wallet.

Sweet should be fun! I'm glad to have purposes for collecting resources other than stock piling. :D

I tested it out and forgot how its not letting you get ultra rare spent 100k dilithium and like near 100 upgrades on it and it 100% but went back to 0% lol. I am pretty sure I am not coming for delta rising because that was just for one item.

Yeah but the point was that it was wasted because they didn't get it in right before they put it in the patch. Just makes me even more less interested in this expansion because odds are its not going to work right even when it launches.

Glad to see this again. I can make use of this to get a jump on leveling crafting some more. And to collect material.

It looks like R&D experieince gain from the doff assignment of 'Research Technology' has been boosted as well! Check out the bottom of each research school for a trick on how to level up in R&D quickly!
