No bugs or we'll make you watch "Threshold" again!

Please Devs tell me you ignored Threshold. NOBODY actually takes that as canon. It was an accident and it never happened.

    You're aptly named Devilment666, that's a true punishment.

    Old news is INCREDIBLY old.

Glad to see Executive Producer Stephen D'Angelo is finally caught up with what the rest of us knew FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT of Delta Rising a month ago. The only time he seems to actually communicate with us (via the blogs), is to make announcements. Where's the State of the Game reports? Where's the replacement for Mr Stahl's "Engineering Reports" ? Nothing, nada, zip, zilch!

Cryptic/PWE PR Team needs to be FIRED, and replaced by people who actually know how to do public relations. Cause, this aint it.

u do a 4 week Long xp "Weekend" and after it is finished u lauch DR wich Needs a LOT of xp - find the mistake

Isn't it obvious? They want you to grind your TRIBBLE off to get to 50, speeding through before Delta Rising launches. Why? So you can grind another 10 levels (sans XP boost). MMOs are grindy, I get that (been playing MMOs for the better part of 10 years now). But STO's excessively grindy, and becoming moreso with every update/expansion.

The level "grind" is to be expected, and not part of what I consider grindy. But add on the following; Rep Grinds, R&D Grinds, Dilithium Grinds, Fleet Holding grinds, need I go on?

Add to that, Delta Rising adding additional confirmed grind mechanics (Ship Masteries, Gear Upgrading). If I have to spend 20-30k Dilithium per piece, and an additional kit just to upgrade from Mk XII to Mk XIV, I might as well just buy the Mk XIV gear straight out, and reduce the risk of getting stuff I don't want. Cryptic loves to add a randomization factor to crafting, so I'm expecting likewise with the Gear Upgrade system. Can't test it, since they discriminate against Silver Players.

I would like some emphasis from Mr. D'Angelo from his original statement on how the current scheme of things is always the same and boring on that quote. If and how this expansion is going to be any change to how things are done/implemented. So far I have yet to see anything to the contrary as far as how boring grinds work in this game.

It's kind of lame that all of the negative DOOM folks manage to get the first replies in...sheesh. I have to wade through all that to read worthwhile comments...

Looking forward to ST: DR! Less than a month away - hopefully I can keep dodging all of the spoilers in the Tribble posts and videos I'm coming across.

    .

There is no Rep grind in this game - once u have a single char up to t5 u only Need to wait 20 days and do about 6 runs for every marks categorie.
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

Well, 14/10/14 is a good date. Been playing on Tribble and looking forward to it. However, there is still a lot of work to go. Bug fixes, the lag problems that are now affecting holodeck as well. There's also the usual typos and grammar, but a lot of that has been covered.

As I've said to Smirk, it's enjoyable and good. Looking forward to the whole thing. :)
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

It wouldn't be an MMORPG without the grind. If you want Star Trek just handed to you on a silver platter, go watch the series and/or movies.

^^^This...exactly. Find someone to team with to make it more bearable if you need to, just quit complaining about a central design aspect of the game.

I am looking forward to info on T6 pricing. I'm not doing $125, but $25-30 I will. Excited about the release!

Don't worry. if everything goes like it usually does so many people will flood holodeck after the update that it will break the servers repetedly. and if your FTP you will probably have to wait to get in. im not being a doomer just informing you of unfortunate fact. Saturday is perfect. there will be a few patches between tues and st that will stabilize the game.

Sorry to say, I'm not excited for DR. I'm not a fan at all of Voyager or any aspect of it. Furthermore, I disagree with the way the whole T5 to T6 ship thing is being handled. I want to be into it, I do. But I can't condone the direction this game has gone the last year.
I was incredibly excited for LoR and it turned out to be bittersweet in a way because it was great to have a new playable species even if it was only half a faction (and still incomplete at that) and it was great to have a bunch of new story missions to play.
The bitter part was when I realized it was Rom or nothing after that in PvP because of the incredible imbalance created by the space traits that Romulan captains had easy access too and the super OPness that was the Scimitar. I had a Fed Vulcan that I had over 1000 hours and almost $800 invested in that was made obsolete overnight. Now again, when DR hits, my character (his ship which is more him than the little guy on the ground that I almost never play) will be rendered obsolete and I will again be forced into making a choice of what I like in the IP vs. being competitive and doing well in the game.
I don't think players should have to make that choice and it's a disappointing trend here. Maybe I'm just not a MMO guy.

I appreciate this post. I think that lots of folk play for the IP aspect of the game and some basic MMO features frustrate people because they don't see it as an MMO first. Maybe you aren't an MMO guy and that's cool. I totally get how you could be frustrated about all of the time and hours you spent seemingly nullified by newer, better things. I would venture to say that you at least somewhat enjoyed the experience so far to dedicate so much of your resources to this free to play game.

I get what people mean by saying that the Republic is a half faction (because they ally with UFP or KE). I don't get what people mean by saying it's an 'incomplete faction' - what exactly is missing?

Yeah, don't worry, not many people will be able to play it until the weekend anyways. That is assuming the servers stay up that is...

Also, id like to welcome the Cryptic PR dept to last month!! :D

in a community that of late seems full to bursting with the dour trudging of
the pessimistic, i find myself asking the question.. but why? if peoples opinion
of this game, its developement, its direction, its management, its player base
and thier place in it, is so negative, unsatisfying and past its ability to give them
a proper playing experience, sense of achievment or just fun.. why do they
bother? it is almost as if the community has become riddled by jealous sabotuers,
faceless individuals so frustrated by a changing system, envious of other players
who still enjoy playing the game, that all they have left is baiting the developement
team or trying to derail, mock and dissuade the multitude of happy gamers from the
fun that they too, used to experiance. while they shout and posture about wanting
more changes, less changes, changes to changes, and no changes, are they really
just lowering the bar on thier expectations? are they setting themselves up so that
it is easier for thier expectations to be met so once again they can validate thier
obsessive need to login to the game on a daily basis? has the dour forum trudge now
become the latest minigame (coming to the gateway soon) or, is this frikkin world just
    going 'dinos with lazors' crazy?

roll on the release so we can get some peace..

    Cryptic,

I had to chuckle to myself when I read the announcement of the official release date for Delta Rising post.;) When you released the Delta Rising Operations pack for sale, you told us that the ships would be made available in game Oct. 14th 2014. So, anyone reading that post (which would be pretty much everyone that read this post), already knew the release date. The take home from this, is maybe next time lead with the "official release date" of a season, before you put the season pack up for sale.

Two questions though, regarding Delta Rising.

    1) Where is the 4th faction for STO? Back in December 2013, you guys told us you would be releasing a 4th faction late 2014. So, where is it? Are you holding onto that gem for STO's 5th year anniversary this Feb. 2015? Or, were you unable to make a 4th faction, as you promised?

    2) Delta Rising Operations pack. Why does the pack come with 4 Federation ships (one of each ship class), while the KDF and Romulan factions only get 2 ships (thus only having 2 of 4 tier 6 ship classes)?:( Are the KDF and Romulans getting these 2 other ship classes at the tier 6 level like the Federation? If so, when can we expect to see them? Will they be included in the Delta Rising pack, or do KDF and Romulan players have to buy these separately?

Surprising in that I'd figure you guys would want (read: Need) to give this as much shakedown time as possible and would have released it on Thursday 10/30/14. That said, maybe you want it somewhat playable by 10/30/14; and yeah, it usually takes Cryptic two weeks to get the major server and other issues triaged post a major launch.

Either way, good luck. (You'll need it with this mess of an update.) LoR I was excited for. Delta Rising just continues STO's devolution into Grind/Time Gate Trek Online.

I knew it would happen eventually...

The grief you use to give others about how great this game was and how great eveything was.

    Kudos... Gotta love it...
