I really hope mk XII is just the entry level or its there for testing purposes only because, geko did state ( in the latest priority one podcast ) that the new endgame an level 60 ques, really do require you to have MKXIII or MKXIV gear.... please say we don't have to upgrade the new rep gear, it should be available in all endgame mark levels.
As long as we don't need to use some sort of c-store purchase to upgrade Mk XII to Mk XIV, it's really not a big deal. There was a time when Mk X borg borg/omega was a thing on the way to the Mk XII equivalents, or have most people forgotten this?

We're about to dive into a brand new level tier. Why should we instantly start out with the highest possible gear levels?

To all those ranting about another rep and the mark items i say this: Isokinetic Cannon.

Like I know right... I am also very curious about this ability.

Nice blog, very interesting new abilities. Also can't wait to see the new visuals, on both space and ground sets, but I guess they arent ready yet. And its rather nice of Cryptic to offer us the option to use either a beam or a DHC on the weapon set. A big Thanks for that.

I, for one, welcome this new rep. All stuff sounds good, and I dont think it will be such a grind. From the looks of it, the new adv zone will make it more easy, for me at least. But thats becouse I like ground. The romulan and voth rep had adv zones and it didnt feel like a grind becouse the marks "flow" rather fast. Only reps I found to be grindy were nukara and undine, becouse of lack of good ground zones. Even if there is nukara planet and the undine infiltration, those have cooldowns and rather low rewards.

    Erm what?

Also looking at the personal shield - shield drains on the ground? What does that?!
Secondary fire on the rifle on an exposed target = orbital strike LOL.

Increased run trait - plus boots - plus motion accelerator - we can all be like Usain Bolt :D

Have you already grinded the delta ground set on tribble?
    Or has anyone done that?
Can aanyone tell us the 2-set and 3-set bonuses ?
Yesterday, on twitch livestream, Captain Smirk was showing the 2-pc power, i guess, which should be a kind of wave which destroys mechanical objects?

I think it's fair to have the new rep be mark 12. this makes it stay equal with all the others and go through the same upgrade process as they do.

I have been suggesting for some time that the upgrades cost dilithium to stabilize the exchange.

So far I seem to be wrong that the price will fall over 300. Perhaps the crafting effect is taking hold and now we are beginning to see evidence of great dilithium costs coming our way for upgrades. We may see the 140's again some day. 130's?

Well, consider that it'll probably take longer to reach T5 Delta Alliance than it will to go from 50 to 60.

By and large; eh. It's another Rep. Show me some armor visuals and i'll decide on that.

Not sure what to think of that. I mean the good thing about that is we can start the Reputation at Lvl 50 and not 55 or 60. But also this "upgrade" could mean spending ridiculous amounts of Dilithium just to upgrade. I hope the upgrade is free.

If I understand this correct what I ve seen on Tribble so far, you can craft upgrade kits of different rarities. (You also get some from mission rewards)

Thoose upgrade kits require some R&D Components along with some dilithium.

    yay.... more grind
a new rep system where we get new mk xii weapons if we pay ridiculous amounts of dil... just to pay more dil to upgrade them to meet the new game standards

    i mean.... WTF?!?

meanwhile every TRIBBLE in STO costs dil or zen... or real money
the amount of grind practically exploded in the past 2 years while the rewards (e.g. reputation powers) are bit by bit getting restricted

Just alone the last "rep system" aka Crafting (sorry... its nothing else than that) either consumes 1 year to reach lvl 20... or incredible high amounts of dilithium.
Yes... you can reach lvl 20 sooner... all you have to do is to spend ~5mio dilithium (a rough calculation).

And it does not look like the devs every going to raise the rewards... not even the amount of dil you can convert.

Except you dont as they have already said MK12 and tier 5 are perfectly able to complete the new content.

Or you can actually CRAFT items, you know, the thing your supposed to do with a crafting system, which give tons of EXP and cost zero dilithium to make. Thus reducing the time by a lot.

Also, after you reach like level 8 in crafting, its near impossible to not crit those daily exp projects, thus giving you 7,000 exp instead of 6,000, reducing the time it takes by quite a bit.

Stop trying to push the false premise that you can only level up crafting via dailies.

Well, let's paint a full picture here. I recently crafted level 6, 8, and 10 gear for a new character. It was really cool and awesome. However, it chews through the blue materials like crazy. And they are not free. I had about 500 of each to start as well.

So, realistically, and if you are not spending a ton of EC on it you must stick to the level 6 gear crafting, which is severe micro-managing and too much bother IMO.

I reach level 15 in beams in 11 days. All others and all other characters are many weeks behind.

We have Omega, Romulan, Nukara, Dyson, 8472 and now Delta.

That's 6 rep systems. Some games have DOZENS.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

Nor are they particularly hard to get either, elite pve queues throw them out like crazy as rewards.

You making 100 a day? You'll need about that to grind the crafting.

    Right your opinion

I started like a month ago and am already level 10 in three different things.

Not to mention everything past level 15 is just extra crit chance, and not something you actually NEED to craft anything.

And even if you never crafted, and NEVER got a crit on the daily projects, it would only take 345 days to make it out, almost a full months less then a year, with crits, it can take as little as 295 days, which is over two months less then a full year, assuming you are raising a crafting school yet never crafting anything in it for some bizarre reason.

You making 100 a day? You'll need about that to grind the crafting.

Things get a little slower after level 10...

Just wanted to put my input here based on what I've heard about the new reputation.

First off, I believe I know why they gave us Mark XII rather than Mark XIII or XIV gear. Except for events, the 5 reputation tracks we have now unlock at level 50. Since you can start Delta Quadrant stuff at level 50 (the only new queued event which you can do at normal without a Tier 5-U ship), the devs wanted to make sure that no one got excluded from the new gear. Mark XIII is probably going to be obtained as soon as someone reaches Level 55, while Mark XIV will be restricted to Level 60.

As for the lack of other energy weapon types, I think what they shown in the image might have been possibly a wrong image. A friend of mine who is able to access tribble showed me Polaron weapon ground weapons, meaning once again we're getting a polaron weapon akin to the Dyson Rep.

So I was going to wait until the new update to invest in reputation gear so that I dont get a bunch of mk12 stuff now and have it be outdated in however many weeks, get it then and come out with mk14 gear instead...........................

But, with this new info that mk12 rep gear will be still there anyway does this mean I can go ahead and get my rep gear now?!?!?! And upgrade my borg rep set to mk14 later???:confused::confused:

Not really, you just have to log on once every 2-3 hours to reload crafting some beam arrays or w/e

    Level 0 0 0
    Level 1 10 30
    Level 2 20 260
    Level 3 30 10,000
    Level 4 40 30,000
    Level 5 50 48,000
    Level 6 60 68,400
    Level 7 70 93,600
    Level 8 80 120,600
    Level 9 90 149,400
    Level 10 100 180,000
    Level 11 110 252,000
    Level 12 120 333,000
    Level 13 130 423,000
    Level 14 140 522,000
    Level 15 150 630,000

That right there is what we call an ex pee nential progresshun

And getting to level 15 should take, at max, 105 days, less then 4 months, if you NEVER craft, and NEVER get a crit on the dailies.

Since its nearly impossible to NOT get a crit on the dailies past level 8 in a rank, and if you actually craft, it should take less then 90 days, even without hardcore dedication to the system.

    630,000/6,000 = 105 days
    630,000/7,000 = 90 days
+ crafting exp = less then 90 days

Do the math and stop pushing false premises.

You are laboring under some misconceptions my friend. I am not complaining about the crafting system at all. I like it. I embrace it. As I said I have my first level 15 in 11 days. I believe it took hmm somewhere around 70 days? I don't remember when it started. I didn't autocomplete anything except for a misclick :(

I for one am glad they are not upgrading to Mk XIII or mkXIV yet as I have a few rep systems that I put on hold and would have lost dil if I quit and redid them to get higher end equipment. Alos it means the stuff I have on alts won't be obsolete so quickly. I'm not a fan on the reps but do them for the dil award at the end just put it on hold until the dil weekend and you get a decent payout.

Then your entire point about experiential progress makes no sense and was seemingly purposeless.

It's exponential, and it does make sense. But I see you're just intent on being irritating so I must bid you adieu.

Is this going to be the norm with new seasons? Buy new ships grind for reputation marks? I have been online since season 5, how about something not used in previous seasons. I have to grind out a lot of marks to get enough to open new tiers and then grind some more to get the gear I want. Just when I get around to getting enough to get all the new stuff you add more of the same to start over with the grinding out more marks. That is getting pretty old fast...

They'll stop doing this when people stop making it profitable. The game is paid for by a few people willing to spend a lot of money because they 'need' to have all the stuff. Thus grinding is what we will have until that doesn't bring in the cash.

 The real question is whether we as customers will have an alternate pay model to present to PWE that gets us what we want ... content (ie. stories and battle scenarios)... rather than what we don't want... grinding... or whether they just shut the game down when this garbage doesn't make the same degree of profit.

I keep trying to start threads on alternate ways to finance the game, but threads get closed and posts disappear... :(

What?! Yet another reput. Oh man, just reminds me a bit of LoR (which was awesome by itself) and the squeezed in Nukara reput with very little contend to cover it back at that time.

Think here we look 2-3 new queues for the new marks as well as another battlezone.

Whatever, the new sets will have to be impressive to cope with stuff already available. I estimate another 2 piece bonus boost for polaron 7,5% this time from the weapons set. If the new space set is worth anything will be seen. Perhaps pieces of it. Sounds already familiar? Could also be that peeps tend to match it with the old jem space set. But I don’t expect that much out of it at this point and rather focus on the stuff I look forward to which is getting to 60 and work with the upgraded tier 5 lock box/lobi ships.

At the very least with 8 toons and sponsorship tokens I hopefully will be able to do the rep with fleetmates on the fly if the daily marks are comparable to the undine rep.

Hope they don’t forget the 32k dil reward at its conclusion cuz for the moment that pretty much the only incentive here.
