Since there are now three levels of play (normal, advanced, elite), which level(s) provide the module needed for the high end gear available in rep. I sure hope advanced is included in the mix and this will be true for the old reps. I really don't care to focus on being elite just to get rep gear and STO/Cryptic needs to stop limiting access to rep gear since their is only one type of rep gear in game (MK XII).

    Written on paper napkins.

    EDIT:

Now hold me up while I fire off this OS from my rifle! :D That's gonna have some kick.

Yeah this is a big expansion so they ended up running out of napkins and moved onto toilet paper.

In all seriousness if I was remotely interested in this expansion or the rep it would be hard to conceive doing it since most of my characters are still slammed full of gear even with the inventory and bank changes. The other thing is it seems they are doing everything possible with an expansion except dealing with the actual problems we as players want remedied especially where it comes to the KDF.

Sure they are making a battle cruiser and a raptor but as of yet the stats of the battle cruiser its following a standard trend to build inferior content compared to federation and romulan ships. So on the toilet paper it says gimp kdf create T6 garbage scow.

For the Love of the Great Bird of the Galaxy; could we please get some plasma weapons for us Romulans? Two reps in a row of Phaser/Disruptor Plus Polaron. Plasma and Tetryon seem to be on the back burner.

    Okay my plasma gripe aside.

The new rep looks okay, but so so tac pew pew I wont die ever focused. Just seems like with these weapons and gear most players wont really feel any hits anymore.

    This does worry me.
Space is vast, it's wonderful and maddening. Yet in that madness is some of the greatest beauty I have ever seen.

    Erm what?

    :D

I noticed that. I think it's because with the boosts the array gives you can take some of the power you'd normally put on shields and put it in weapons power instead?

I like the run-speed trait. If we could get a loadout system for traits at some point that would be great though.

Plasma ground weapons being in the set would be nice as well.

Also aren't Thoron weapons illegal? I'm pretty sure that was a major plot point early in the game?

I, too, wonder why the new Rep peaks out at Mk XII, when Mk XIV is the new hotness.

Could we please get a Dev in here to comment on the thinking/intentions that went into this design?

no thoron is not illegal the caitian salker fighter uses thoron console your thinking of THALARON from the scimatar and the scimatar 3 piece console set
here is from the star trek wiki: Thalaron weapons were eventually banned by all major powers in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

Apparently Bajorans and Cardassians use Thoron stuff a good bit. It was never mentioned as being illegal, just moderately dangerous. (One of the uses involved aerosolizing it to make a cloud that disrupted sensors. The downside is that it's not good to inhale Thoron particles.)

Seems like romulans get shorted out of weaponry and then kdf gets shorted on cloaking tech so maybe just maybe they will get a clue one day and fill those voids. Although I highly doubt it they are about as responsive as gagh that doesn't move anymore.

I don't mind seeing a new Rep. However it needs a cutscene or some kind of story progression. Like the Romulan and Dyson Rep.

No story progression = I won't be doing it.

Don't know if you want to count Spiral Wave Disruptors, Plasma-Disruptors, or Caustic Plasmas.

hmm, mark 12. im worried this means that mark 14 weapons will have to be a zen upgrade and there will be no way to get mk 14 equips without zen.

rep is really the only source of endgame weapons for me since fleet stuff takes so much grinding. though this maybe also suggests that fleet stuff will remain mk 12 also?

otherwise, excited to play the new stuff

Spiral wave might count, but it's a Galor thing. The other two are mission rewards, and one if from a RR mission.

So a couple hours worth of the Voth ground battlezone?

The bigger issue than getting the 100k of Dilithium Ore is that 100k would require two weeks to refine (ok, thirteen days--twelve if you use the Veteran and Fleet bonus refining DOFF missions).

Hmm, idea: have one of the possible prizes in the next lockbox be a bonus to Dilithium refining that would allow you to refine twice as much per day until you reach the stated amount (e.g. 20k, 50k, or however much the boost is worth).

After what I've spent to earn the Fleet Credits for four Phaser Spire Tactical Consoles to go with the 8472 set, I wouldn't touch that polaron junk with a ten foot pole.

Neither do I need another set that only comes with a Hyper-Efficient engine option. I don't run high engine power. The last set to feature a combat engine (efficient at low power levels) was Dyson Joint Command Technologies, and the last before that was Honor Guard/Adapted MACO. I may just roll with one of those two or the 8472 set until I see a new set that makes phasers and high weapon subsystems power viable.

I'll still do the rep, for the dilithium payoff at the end, but I'll keep looking forward to a Delta Quadrant rep that offers a little more than that.

Or a consumable that gives a doff mission for refining dil.

Is this going to be the norm with new seasons? Buy new ships grind for reputation marks? I have been online since season 5, how about something not used in previous seasons. I have to grind out a lot of marks to get enough to open new tiers and then grind some more to get the gear I want. Just when I get around to getting enough to get all the new stuff you add more of the same to start over with the grinding out more marks. That is getting pretty old fast.
Can you come up with more then one way of getting the same gear? maybe make some episodes to get the Reputation marks and for the gear. How about have a way of using the old gear in a new way. Say going to a planet over run by borg and we need to use such and such gear to get through it safely. we can use a vehicle of some sort with weapons or a shuttle that can land and take off when needed, call on a drone for help or to take us back to the ship if beaming is down.
There are lots to draw on from Star Trek Universe and it seems Star Trek Online is just updating old tech with different visuals Stuck in the mud repeating itself. It might be fun for the new players but for others not so much. BTW thanks for adding the extra 10 levels. that should cover about a weeks worth of game play.

I assume that the image in the blog shows us the disruptor compression rifle. After all, there is a phaser compression rifle in canon, introduced with Voyager. You did not just copy the item and change the beam color, did you? You KNEW there was a compression rifle already in canon, right? Right?

To all those ranting about another rep and the mark items i say this: Isokinetic Cannon.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It feels like the reputation system is getting "watered down." Expanding shouldn't mean adding a new system every update, but adding new ideas and improving on old content. The foundry could definitely use some creative improvements.

I really hope mk XII is just the entry level or its there for testing purposes only because, geko did state ( in the latest priority one podcast ) that the new endgame an level 60 ques, really do require you to have MKXIII or MKXIV gear.... please say we don't have to upgrade the new rep gear, it should be available in all endgame mark levels.
