Within the last 24hrs, I have had over a dozen 'server not responding' issues.
These are followed by disconnects, and an inability to either get the launcher to restart or even get Arc to restart.
Further, after I get these errors I lose the ability to use the support function or get here to the website/forums for PWE/ARC/STO. I'm having to do a PC restart to get things working properly again, and that only seems to last for a few minutes or a single mission.
Steps I have already taken include computer restarts, checking my system for any odd changes in the last couple days and going so far as to do an uninstal and a reinstall (even on a different hard drive). I have also checked with my internet provider to see if there have been any gaps in service.
To head off a few questions someone might ask next, I work for an IT company and have complete familiarity with fixing issues on my own system, I have been playing for well over a year (a lifetime member) and have never had these issues before and I don't use any third party code in STO (dps meters, etc).
To reiterate- I have never had these issues before, and am effectively unable to play STO since this situation started about 24hrs ago.
To update, I now have a KDF character in a semi-permanent freeze in the dyson sphere contested zone. Every time I try and log into him, I get the almost immediate 'server not responding' tag and can't get him out.
What was impressive was that I went for about a half hour without issue and thought the problem auto-corrected.
what's impressive is that I can get high 3 digits on the timer saying 'server not responding' then when it's done, rubber band for a bit. rinse and repeat
Had the same issue twice now, but only on my PC with ARC, other PC with original launcher has had no problems. So I'm guessing it's ARC related.

I use steam. got too pissed off with ARC slowing my pc down.
If you're having a wifi issue, why not just increase its bandwidth and check the channel to make sure nothing else is interfering. I find my wifi likes to change channels on me and something else is on it as well.
Bumping this up while I stare at a blank Cryptic launch window...
Gut instinct says a live hotfix was put on the game server to prepare for changing out crystalline for shuttle event. So I won't be surprised if everything works right after the morning patch. Then I can stare at all my uncompleted crystalline catastrophe events.....
I know it says one bug per post, but I'm under the belief that everything I'm going through is connected.
Newest errors:
Got my last character to the countdown timer for crystalline catastrophe, then same old server not responding. Managed to log back in a minute later, I was in the event with nothing there and the leave map button. Less than 10 minutes before server goes offline and I have a 30min timer before I can attempt again.
Tried change character, wouldn't work. Went to log out screen to come back in. Worked for about 20 seconds before disconnected. Tried it again, got the background music and planet with no characters.
Still couldn't get the support options to work to report this any other way than on here.
Today's patch did nothing to stop the problems, and instability is getting worse as now I see errors where characters need to be reloaded safely for not transitioning to a map correctly.
massive "server is not responding" bug, it's not net traffic either, everything else is super fast
seems to happen more at times when I would guess things are busy, smells like throttling in some way -or- a bad bug. or ... seems odd, but I wonder if this could be some kind of denial-of-service attack. I think some of these games must be getting shaken down for money
I'm a new customer, I won't be staying long if I can't play
that..wouldnt surprise me. I know some internet communication gets routed via satellite at times..
sto and warframe and everything was working right, but facebook, barnes and noble and deviantart all went and visited crash city and page unavailable town the day before.
Murphy's laws:
1- Murphy’s Law tells us that anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
2- And anything that does go wrong will get progressively worse.
3- And if you survive the first two laws it’s time to panic.
So I'm not the only one experiencing this problem...
Had this on and off for several days, now.
Every once in a while, I would get the "Server not connected" message.
In these cases, it usually doesn't come just once and crash, but come several times running for about ten seconds with small gaps in between - so about one or two seconds.
I usually quit the game before it may crash, as it is unplayable, anyway.
Last time this happened was just a few minutes ago.
I'm seeing alot of SNRs and rubberbanding at the moment.

It appears to be at the 'edge routers'. If you setup a couple of command prompt windows and continuous ping the login server and game server ips (and some 'controll' ones to another unrelated server), you will see that perfectworld servers or previous hop timeout at the same time you will get kicked from the servers or not see the launcher load.
Tracerts to the login server will timeout at something like edge.gateway.perfectworld when its not working. So either the hosting ISP gateway or their internal gateway hardware is overloaded or has issues.
Depending on which routing (the path) you get to their servers will determine if your affected or not as they presumably have multiple gateways.
I'll add my voice to this. I was team playing a story mission last night - lots of rubber banding, freezing of ships, and SNRs to the point of unplayable. We quit for the night instead of finishing. Both clients weren't acting up at the same time, but they were both definitely acting up. One ship would freeze - and the other would be fighitng the mob, but everything would be rubber banding like mad.
Doubt it's my ISP, because right after logging out, watched Netflix for a while and had no picture quality issues.

I was on last night too and experienced exactly the same behavior, numerous disconnects before I finally called it a night.
could this have anything to do with the internet backbone and possible wildfires wreaking havoc out west? We have seen similar issues about the same time last year....perhaps cryptic and pwe don't want us to know that STO is not nearly robust as the rest of the internet in terms of quality of service, eh?
They obviously failed in their maintenance last night. The game is hiccuping on me when I am on and when I am trying to get in the game it patches....sloooooooowly.
The game is unplayable for most people and its been a know issue for two days now. Why are the servers still up and why is this not being addressed. Devs whats going on, do you want new players coming into this just to think you don't care. Please tell me you care and their is some massive devastation at cryptic that's preventing you guys from addressing this ASAP.
Cogent was the problem a few weeks before and for about a week after LOR hit, as well.
I've been getting a lot of lag and bounce outs the last three days myself.
When I do a trace, it inevitably shows that the connection in Boston (cogent) is the problem.
(Cogent BTW, is the Server Farm that PWE/Cryptic uses to run the game)
I can only surmise that either Cryptic or Cogent is somehow mucking up the process of communication, while adding the new expansion to the game and are probably trying to adjust the amount of data passing through their servers at the lowest possible capacity.
They are probably trying to save costs by starting with the least amount of new server capability and slowly adding more bandwidth (or whatever it's called) till we stop complaining.
That's why we spend the first week or so after a major addition to the game, all trying to get through to what is probably just enough capacity to hold 3/4's of us.
They are right now running three version of the game (Holo/Tribble/Redshirt) through the same amount of servers that normally only have to deal with two.
And with Tribble being inundated with large numbers of testers, Holo being on the uptick with folks stocking up, plus folks fiddling on Redshirt, it's creating a pile up that the Boston connection isn't prepared to handle.
And PWE, I'm sure, doesn't want to pay for more server bandwidth which won't be needed when DQ hits and we go back to just the two play areas. (Tribble will be a ghost town and Redshirt will be gone again)

When I got home yesterday I was fine but a fleet mate had them.
Today I was still issue free and he was as well.
Give it a day and maybe the server will choose a 4th person to pick on?

Many satellite and communications disruptions were warned to be highly possible.

After logging off, I now encounter issues regarding the Launchers.
They don't seem to load at all. Or they take eons.
