Hi to all PvPers. I have a question for all of you...

It seems tome that there are some "unofficial" rules in PvP matches, limiting or banning some abilities or equipments.
I am new in the PvP world and i read about some "banned" techs in some forum posts but i'm not sure if that's relevant now.

AFAIK the "bans" are:
  • Temporal Inversion Field
  • Antimatter Spread
  • Danube Runabouts

It's true?
I don't wanna play OP weapons and rise anger or so.... I wanna only understand what's "permetted" and what's "banned".

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english (I'm Italian)

Bye!

So let me understand this. You do not like those. Also ethics in a place where people are trying kill you don't happen. You need to get out more.

    (Chuckles)...... Ethics.

Hi there italian comrade :P Well, actually there is nothing "banned" or "ethically" wrong imho, just something considered annoying from the most, like the ones you said and more. They are ingame tools and you can use it at your advantage regardless of how they are "OP". The limitation you are seeing sometimes here are related to tournaments, to ensure a possible clean playstile that is like inexistent in public q's.
Anyway you have to know that the only thing really OP in this game is a little word called teamwork, nothing is more important, regardless of the spam and cheese out there, because there is always a possible counter.

However, if you really like pvp, me and csi mates are available to invite you and talk to you on our TS so i can explain you something about this weird world ;)

I think this is a oxymoron PvP and ethics?

Yes there is some abilities and gear people don't like. While I understand this. And there are somewhat same everyone is playing with the same rules.

I personally think if people have problems with things, stay away for using it first.

    thank you all.

so isn't a question of ethics, but a question of "boredom"?

And swifty escorts fast as lightning, vapers and so... aren't boring too for the others? i mean... the first PVP match i was killed 5 times without even SEEING who's shotting me. Later a friend explained me that it was a rommie vaper...

I know... without experience that's normal. But what's the "meter" of boredom? what is annoying and what's not?

    i want only understand :D

Nothing is against the rules unless there are agreed written rules in place when the match started.

A lot of things are considered cheap though, because they give a large advantage and do not have many counters. It is up to you if you want to use them. Some people need the crutch gear, some people rather learn how to play without them. Do you want to get a reputation as crutch user, or as a good player.

except abusing of bugs, cheating and some turnament's rules, the only ethics in pvp is killing before being killed. ^^

Best thing is not to get mad though :D.
You could always ask the vaper how he achieved this results.
General rule is; you will get all kinds of tips and tricks IF... you ask nicely!

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

Best add Elite Orion interceptors to that list. I play by my own rules also. Cheesy TRIBBLE isn't my style. I would never 1vs1 anyone with an Recluse carrier. Too good to be using cheap tactics. Being the best isn't all about winning. It's how you win...

We know the true good players from the "use what ever broken **** you can find" players. I try to stay away from that scum. IMO just being Romulan eliminates you already. (witcho over powered Azz :P).
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

TIF is an AoE debuff to all recharge timers, and in case of Temporal ships buffs them. There's no real way to counter it, except moving away or scrambling the user.

AMS is an AoE scramble and perception debuff, still cleared by Science Team.

Elite Danubes, known as Yellowstone Runabouts, are uber for crowd controlling, each pet leaving a trail of EWP on the target sometimes, and chroniton torpedoes to further debuff movements.

There once was some level of feeling that certain tactics were 'cheesy' among the community, and to be avoided.

This isn't so anymore, I'd say. It is purely a subjective, personal matter - just run whatever what you feel like running, and don't bother trying to impose any standards on anyone.

The only exception may be in premade group matches, and private 1v1s - you can discuss barring certain things with your opponent, but whether they agree or disagree is up to them.

For example, I personally feel uncomfortable running scramble doffs, so I don't. But I know I can't impose on anyone, so I don't yell if it's used on me. I may single out the player for special attention, though. ;)

TIF can be neutralized by applying a photonic shockwave to its user or interrupted by an aux subsystem disable proc inflicted by Viral Matrix, you absolutely dont need to scramble him in order to counter it, either a precisely placed shockwave or Counter-TIFing by one of ur own team comrades is the most efficient way to deal with this recharge time debuffer.

Yellowstones are still severly bugged in this game due to tetryon plasma ejected by these pets causing targeted objects to get invisible frequently of the opposing team during combat. Furthermore the plasma disables your engine subsystems and wont display a debuff icon on your buffbar when u are caught inside the cloud. Once you are stuck you are only able to get out of the plasma when the ability disappears from the map since it can neither be cleared by cleanse doffs nor by sci/eng team or hazards as opposed to the usual warp plasma.

Generally there are no official rules for public pvp in arena or cap and hold you can use whatever you want to. Those rumours originally appeared from self-appointed "PvP-Messiahs" who are obviously not capable of handling some of the consoles or set abilities and demand rules to restrict or even ban them completely from the pvp scene in order to turn the conditions for pvp combat in their favor. I wouldnt pay much attention to this. The best way to encounter such persons is to ignore them or make them first priority target in future encounters :P

However if you dont get along with some "clickie universal consoles" or other abilities and insist on a set of rules for pvp, you either may participate in pvp-tournaments which are usually composed of guidelines to enable all teams a fair and square fun-event or arrange private pvp challenges with other teams who are willing to agree on a preset of rules for one specific match. ;)

    Cheers

Only ethics in my opinion is the ethics applied during a private match when the rules are agreed by both parties.....

Or else just have fun in the queues.

    1. Deny the bug's existence.

    2. Declare it's Working As Intended b/c a fix can't be found/thought of in the short term.

    3. Find the fix to the issue after a year and a half, "Fix it" and then sell the bug's ability in a lockbox/Z-store.

    4. Reintroduce the "feature" in a "patch" that references the broken code. Goto step 1.

Make no mistake - Banning anything in pvp destroys pvp, and anyone who laments over mechanics before a match is assuradly trying to rig the deck in their favor.

There is nothing op, there is nothing that is cheeze, there is only whining. The reason the whining is so loud is that the pvp community is so tiny that the bullies who would have you not use the things you want to use will be heard because no one else is speaking. And do not mistake it - these are bullies in every sense of the word, every one of them who whine about TiF, or Danubes, or anything else.

Furthermore - if we are to use these assinine rules that Some People might make up we would see matches that last forever and ever, spiriling to the top of the map. Believe it - it has been proven over and over again.

You bring whatever You want to bring to the game, because without You there is no game, and of You want to play by someone elses rules, and gratify someone elses ego, that is Your choice as well.

    I said it.

    Again.

thanks to all, i appreciate all the opinions. I think that there is no "true" answer to my question.

Maybe the best choice is to try myself these "cheesy" abilities and then decide myself if there are too "easy" and "unfair" to use or not.

btw, PvP community is a very complicated one...
