Loss of Twisted Mike

Hello Fleet Members and other Star Trek Online Members,

It is with profound sadness my duty to inform you of the loss of Fleet Member Twisted Mike on September 5, 2014 who passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada from a stroke.
Twisted who had been in Star Trek Online since the beginning showed his love for the game and the Star Trek Franchise by helping those in the game learn the ins and outs of the various missions.

He was the gamer who was not afraid to help others not in our fleet, leading even newbies through the nuances of the various STF’s in the Online Game of Star Trek Online.

Twisted joined Caspian Rising shortly after our catastrophic loss of our first bases, and had with his help had help complete two of our final Tier 5 Base Projects before his untimely passing.

Twisted will be profoundly missed by both Fleet Members and non-fleet members in Star Trek Online, but do know that on the day of his passing; a new star appeared above us.

We will be holding an on-line memorial service for Twisted Mike on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 1900 hours Eastern Time, 1600 hours Pacific, 2300 hours UTC London at the Eternal Flame located on the grounds of Star Fleet Academy Earth to remember Twisted Mike and his contributions to the game and the Star Trek Online Community.

Dress Uniform is requested, (Odyssey for Federation Characters) Formal Dress for Federation Aligned Characters.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

I played with a "Twisted" a few times. I don't know if it was the same guy or not. Regardless, my condolences go out to Mike's friends and family.

Mike was one of my best friends in this game. I met him four years ago when I first started doing a DJ show in STO. He was the first listener I had that came up to me and told me he liked what I was playing. Through him I have made countless friends in this game that I hang out with daily. A few of us were in game with Mike (Nuala@TwistedMike) earlier Friday night, and it still doesn't seem real that he's gone.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We will be passing along as much as we can to his family over the next few days. I'm really looking forward to being with everyone Tuesday night for the memorial service, and I am incredibly grateful to Ballermaris and everyone else at Caspian Division for setting it up. Thank you everyone.

Mike was the second person I added to my friends list when I joined STO. He'd been a part of my life nearly every day for 4 years. His personality, sense of humor, just everything he was made playing this and any game with him a joy. He will be deeply missed, and though I will remain in this game till the doors close and he servers shut down, it's going to be a little less bright without him.

Mike was an incredible person and a phenomenal player. I will always remember his humility, loyalty, and honest nature when interacting with players he's known for years, of for just a few minutes. Everyone was important to him and Mike always gave freely of his time whenever and wherever it was needed. He is loved, and will always be loved, by many people both in-game and out.

Mike's Star Trek Online characters have even been featured in a number of Foundry missions over the years, which thankfully, will ensure that Nuala, Kario, and his many other characters will be immortalized for many years to come.

My sympathies go out to his family in Las Vegas, as well as the family he helped build in Star Trek Online. I know this is still a complete shock to many of you, but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as well.

We want to thank all for the condolances that have been sent in-game and elsewhere.

His family has been notified of the memorial that will be held on-line and we will do our best to minimize any disruption to the Star Fleet Academy Map on Tuesday.

Those who knew Twisted Mike knew of his contributions and so did we with his help we had reached Tier 5 with just two projects left to complete on the base itself.

We hope to give out his obituray imformation when recieved from the family and that will be posted on our feeds and in this forum thread.

Thanks again for all that have offered support to us and we deeply appreciate this.
