Problem with DELTA PACK "package"

demencius2demencius2 Member Posts: 26 Arc User
*SOLVED*

Hi, i just purchased this pack via the Arc browser for Star Trek game called : DELTA RISING etc. I logged into the game but, nothing, i dont seem to have access to the features i paid for! I was playing this game via the arc portal etc under the impression it was a free to play MMO that one could pay for additional features. Through further investigation it seems to me that in order to enjoy the package's (DELTA RISING) features one needs an active subscription into Star Trek! If thatis the case why ARC is selling it through their page?

You see i thought the game was free to play as advertised by ARC portal and as i like it a lot i buyed ZEN for it and i decided to pay for this package aka DELTA RISING in order to enjoy the extra features. Why noonementioned that simple thing? This could be called "froad" you know... So i want to cancel that payment, and get my money back , unless of course they find a way to "install" that package into my account. I ask again : WHY noone mentioned that one needs to have an active subscription in the game in order to enjoy DELTA RISING extra features? So the fault is not on my part as the misleading advertisment lead me to believe that by paying that sum of money would grant me these features. So either cancel that payment remove the package from me or lets find a way to make it work.

Some feedback is also wellcome. I feel riped off really. I payed 120 euro for nothing! :(

It's not active until October. It's clearly noted as such on the order page.

You do NOT need a subscription. As stated on the product this is a pretty_order for when the expansion goes live on October 14.

Well, thanks for the reply. :)

But what happens in October? Will i have then access to the package's features? Or i need an active subscription. BTW is the game subscription free normaly or it needs a monthly subscription still? (cause i have the impression it is free of sub nowdays) Right?

I mean if the game is free to play and has these packs that one may or may not buy its ok. If it also needs a monthly subscription then the cost gets too high for my purse :(

    OP, to summarize:

You have not been robbed. You preordered an item package including ships and other stuff that will arrive with the new expansion of Star Trek Online called 'Delta Rising' which is suposed to happen on October 14-th if I'm not mistaken and if everything goes according to plan.

Don't worry, you'll have the items you purchased then - you can't have them now cause in the current game they do not exist. The level increase, the Tier 6 ships and the new Boff career will come in STO with the expansion 'Delta Rising'.
You don't need to have an active subscription to run STO, you were right the first time - it's F2P where you can pay for additional features only if you want them just like you did. This pack was a pre-order for the new expansion and once it comes, you'll have it availible to claim in game.

    Cheers.

Yes, since you bought it, once DR goes live, everything you purchased will be available to you.

And no, you don't need a sub. Where did you get this idea?

I just now saw the second reply...

So you confirm that the game is subscription free for everyone.
Are you also certain that Delta pack, that for the time being sits only into my transaction window, will work for me by then? I don't need to be Gold or anything, right?

Yes, very certain. For the future, first get the information, then hit the "Buy Now !" button. ;)

Absolutely you will have access to the ships and costumes without a subscription.

Edit a subscription only gives you a shared bank, extra ship and boff slots for each character, a free ship at level 50, and an increase in the amount of money each character can hold. None of the game content or bundles are limited to subscribers only.

Yes, don't worry. I bought a pack like this in the game's previous expansion called 'Legacy of Romulus' and had it availible after the patch that brought the expansion was installed.
No need to be gold or a lifer or anything, no requirements. You'll get what you paid for. You just can't have it now, because the mechanics you payed for won't exist before the patch that will bring the new expansion.

Do yourself a favor, go READ the Dev Blogs about what you bought.

It explains it in detail exactly how it all works and at the very bottom is a FAQ Link that will give you even more answers directly from Cryptic themselves.

Anyone can get the Delta Rising Operations pack. It doesn't matter if you are Silver Member, Gold Member, or a Lifer. Wnen October 14th hits with the Delta Rising launch, the pack will become available.

This game is not subscription free for everyone, it is just that the rewards for being a subscriber suck for more than a month so it is advantageous for people to not subscribe. All that unlocks is veteran rewards, some inventory slots, respecs, and a 500 Zen stipend each month.

Kinda odd that someone would plunk down $125 bucks without understanding what they're buying first. lol

Well... it's kinda nice to see that a new player is so excited about the game, that he's willing to plop down more than $100 on something he has no clue about.

To me, it means that the game still has a lot of appeal, despite us old foggies pizzin' and moanin' about it all the time.

Well, you see... when i purchased it and got the confirmation message via my mobile, i let half an hour pass and loged in game... and there was nothing there... same old same old... Then i iremembered that after i had made the purchase in my transaction window there was this kind of message that you need to have it DELTA rising . "linked" or something into the game... or something like that. I didnt have so much time to fully read it cause the page got refreshed giving me a confirmation message....about the transaction...

So i decided to come into the forums to complain, ask, discuss, about what happened. But while i got into THIS site via the arc browser, (this site : aka the official star trek site) it didnt recognise me immediatly etc (i mean i was coming from Arc, i was logged in, but it asked me to log again, and i had to log again here. And there... THERE.... was this prompt about the monthly subscription fee! :(

Try it for yourself to see. Go make a new account to Arc install the game etc and then come here. The official STO site will inform you that you are not currently subscribed into the game!!! And it will offer you to chose a form of subscription!!!
That is what gave me the impression the game could still be on subscription fee!! (and i mean i went nuts... i mean what the hell... i was CERTAIN it was free to play!

So probably this page admin forgot to update the official STO page somehow, and you see it gave me this message that i was unsubscribed from the game and there it was offering me to chose a pay method and pay for a subscription in order to proceed... But i clicked the forums link so i kinda "bypassed" it that way.

Go and see for yourselves guys. It is really what happened.
And judging by all these i started to fear that the package needed you to be "officialy" subscribed etc...

And there are some old foggies that are still excited about the game, but they don't spend 2 hours per day on the game and have other pursuits to occupy their time.

Well guys, THANKS A LOT for the replys. I was feeling really bad, i was feeling like a big time fool. Now after all this feedback i feel much better. If that is the case ... I can wait till October... :)

PS and yeah the game is amazing really. I was playing Neverwinter Nights myself but i decided to give this game a shot too. And it was much much fun! I prefer the space compaired to ground combat. Ground combat reminds me a bit of mass effect but it is not the "horrible thing" every "professional reviewer" out there was talking about. In fact although i enjoy the space more than the ground i think it is a very good feature that the game has this ground stuff too as it adds fluidity and immersivness into the game! So i like more the space combat etc but the ground is also fun and i consider it nesessary for the game. And yeah i like the game lots! I was playing also eve on line and other games wow etc but decided to give this game a go and i got immediatly hooked! I hadnt so much fun in an MMO game for years :)

Keep in mind OP that you don't need the Delta Pack to play the Delta Rising expansion coming out in October.

Personally I already got fooled once when I bought the Legacy of Romulus pack, prebuying all my Rom ships in advance, in hindsight I realized I didn't need it and could of done with out it.

However also I realize that having SOME Romulan extras helped fill out what little they had.

However looking at Delta Rising, there isn't anything in there I can use, I can't even use the upgrade tokens because I fly a Star Cruiser.

I think it's amazing that Cryptic is only allowing upgrades to all the money based ships or essentially anything that came AFTER the PWE transition, and not giving any of the base ships from launch any upgrade love.

I see where you coming from... And probably on your case the benefit is not so great... Now i will explain why i see great benefit for myself:

This Delta pack, seemed like a "good deal" in my case. As i only yesterday got to be vice admiral and i got no tier 5 ship, i use a tier 4 escort and it gets the job done, well it has 1 gun less perhaps (4/3) and a bit weaker boff slots and i also have a tier 3 science ship that has not so big difference of a tier 5 science ship (at least for the solo "average" stuff i do) and i could buy a tier 5 ship, perhaps with my zen coins but then i saw this bundle delta thingy and i sat and thought that with it i can bypass entirely perhaps the tier 5 and save me the zen or the grind for a fleet ship, which i will do of course all the same cause i enjoy the game and the PvE queues... i just wont feel that i HAVE TO in order to unlock the ships. I ll just play the queues for my fun :)
So lets say i got 5000 ZEN and i could buy a ship with those... now with the Delta i ll kinda "save" those ZENS for other useful stuff like more ship slots or retrain tokens or boffs or duty offs or inventory slots... stuff like that... Now with Delta Rising i ll skip the tier 5 entirly and i ll be getting all these tier 6 ships free of charge! Which will prove usefull also because I plan to make a Klingon and i got already a low lvl (6) Romulan toon so to explore the game some more... So with this pack i ll be able to provide free ships for all these toons save me the ZENs that i can use to get other stuff... and most importantly for my case: Change the "grind for need" (to unlock the ships) and convert it to "grind for fun" Yeah i know, its a state of mind only. The grind doesnt change. Well for me it does. A lot. Its a lot different for me. The first case feels more like "work" having-to-grind-for-my-fleet-ship while the other will be grind- cause-i-like-to-play-the-game. To me its huge difference cause i play to relax etc...

Of course this way also STO and Arc benefit in their way... since despite these "savings" of mine they still just got an extra of 120 euros. So is not that they lost on this deal either. ;)

So your a Freeper? If your a subber or LTS, you get a VA ship token, but I see what you mean, your already at the wall just like me.

It's been a while since I made a new toon, and I remember when the F2P transition was coming and bought the VA ships as an account unlock back when they were cheap(5000 CP) before the prices went up. I saw the signs and they didn't look good so I justified the purchases back then.

but it's good that subbers and LTSers still get a VA token, personally I think they should have ALWAYS gotten it, but glad it's back in.
