So how about a Raider or fast Escort in "Dauntless Style"?

This would be my wish for a new ship for Fed in Delta Rising. It could act like the Breen Raider or the Risian Escort.

Why to bring this Ship?

As I understood in S10 we go back to the Delta Quadrant. Starfleet needs fast ships to pass those distances quickly. Voyager met this ship as an Alien designed ship. But of course brought some of the ship parameters back home.
Starfleet could now decide to build this ship with their own parameters and newest technologies.

So with this wish to you STO developers I mainly dont want to go in details like ship weapons, Boff Stations etc.

Its just a proposal from a big Trek Fan.

Sorry for my English, it is not my main language.

    In my opinion:

    1. No raiders for feds. It's a KDF thing, because a) faction diversity (as little as there is) and b) Starfleet is not supposed to "raid".

    2. No need for new "fast escorts". And if any, nothing hints at the fact that the Dauntless design would be feasible for a attack ship. If the Dauntless would have been real, it would have been a courier or something along these lines.

    3. The Dauntless, like you point out yourself, was a fraud. And a bad one at that. Why should Starfleet decide to copy the design instead of constructing their own ships?

    Please not.
It's already too cheesy we have carriers and OP spacefighters (aka escorts) in STO.

In the Star Trek Los Vegas podcast, Geko said something about revamping the Aquarius and making it a true raider; which is funny, because Bort has said the Aquarius isn't a raider, but whatever lol.

Also, from what I could hear in the pod cast, he said the Dauntless class will be a tactical heavy science ship.

As always, I can be 100% wrong. Those podcasts are long and I'm often doing something else when listening to them.

that makes sense since she's roughly the size of the Intrepid. escort doesn't fit.

it seems as if they might throw the cloaking treaty under the bus and at least give 1+ Fed ships a new Phasing cloak. only time and more Dev blogs will tell though.

    Fed raider?

No, just no. Goes against everything the Federation stands for.

Wow people will stop at nothing to turn the Federation into an Imperialist regime. Want a raider, go play KDF!

Wait are they really making a new Federation ship based off an alien's guess of what a Federation ship should look like based on his observations of Voyager?

Their putting a Fake Federation ship into the game? Seriously. If it came in a Lockbox and everyone could get it, I honestly think it would make sense.

So now the Dauntless is a Tac Heavy Sci ship? Didn't they just release 3 of those in the form of the Sci Destoyers. Can't the Vesta be turned into a Tac Heavy Sci ship? What niche is it trying to fill here?

I suppose it's meant to be T6 so there's that but I know the people with Tac Heavy Sci ships would probably prefer to upgrade their T5's rather than buy a whole new ship.

Lol, this seems to be the answer o everything nowadays. If no one has already put a "escort" or "Dreadnought" sticker on it, just make it a "Science/Escort". :D

Didn't one dev said that the dauntless is "inevitable?" I remember someone saying that..

Other than that, a Fed. Raider seems waaay to unlikely. Fast escort, probably.

Well if the producers of ST: ENT used the Dauntless in the Enterprise-J sequence... why not? I'm more worried of what happens when the Sphere Builders are brought in-game.

As for the Dauntless being too science-heavy... yeah, I'm curious how this will be presented based on the fact that we have Dyson Sci Destroyers & Vesta Class starships.

So these two Jupiter and Typhoon ships are getting supported. I have never seen such an ugly looking ship like the Jupiter. And they are not more needed for variety than for example another escort.

Perhaps the idea of a Fed raider was stupid. But we have so many cryptic creations here. And come on some of them look really strange and not trek like. Especially with the Voyager coined new season, this ship would be great in this game. But i start thinking i am one of less gamers with this wish.

Never thought a "Dauntless" ship is getting only negative feedback.

Oh God, my diaphragm hurts :D It's one of the biggest recurring jokes on these boards for so long.

    I guess, it makes sense.

We have Dinosaurs that shoot lasers from their heads.

We have Starfleet, KDF, Romulan Navies flying around in non-faction ships.

The Romulans are now flower picking, epohh licking space hippies (Herbert!).

We have Borg that are as powerful and threatening as the ants we step on.

We can fly around in 8472 BIO SHIPS.

We have Starfleet acting like idiots.

LOL, it just all goes together, in the end, I guess :D

I wonder what else X2 would bring. Maybe X-Wing Fighters.

A raider. I would have to say no to the federation. It is not what they are about. There is away to give a ship like the Aquarius the bonus of a raider. New ship class for the fed called a fast attack escort.

Support the Dauntless more of a cruiser/science ship.

That is what it is more likely to be. What on screen would make anyone think the Dauntless would be an escort or raider? That is just pure fantasy on behalf of the max/min power gamers. Make it a cruiser with sci? Possibly, but the ship does not have the space for a huge crew as observed in "Hope and Fear" (Voy). Science with a very heavy engineering bent is the most likely as the Nova/Rhode Island fills the Sci/Tac role (The Nebula is eng heavy, but it really should be a flex-ship).

The MSD for the Dauntless shows thats its a tiny ship, 5 decks plus some ancillary space. Definitely not a cruiser.

No you are right it was a Dauntless class in the 26th century. There were 2 ships in the shot a Promethious and a Dauntless.

Perhaps with the expansion of slip stream technology Starfleet looked toward the design of the ship that introduced slipstream to Voyager. The design already having been proved to work.
Tier 8 Dauntless & Prometheus retrofits to boot. ;)

And I think the Prometheus was an Antiproton beam boat...

So with that said....why not "Be" a Federation thats at war with everyone who's anyone....lol.
Let's get back to "Exploration".....yeah right, hard to do when every other faction puts a bullseye on your back. No worries though, if there's any power creep toward the feddies....that will surely start a war on all fronts. It is, as it has always been.....crytic wants the money...p-e-r-i-o-d. I know, they got a large sum of mine..lol. Oh, Rommies picking flowers...that was just plain wrong!
