Just logged on to tribble first thing i noticed is that all doff assignments seems to be rewarding the same amount off skill pionts? after lvl50 is this correct?. on hollo it very between 45 and 84 skill points for the shortest doff assignments now all is the same amount off skill points .

I look at the lack of XP differently. The reductions in XP make it seem like each mission isn't rewarding enough by comparison to how they previously were. How about looking at the formula differently?

If you are reducing the amount of XP rewarded by three quarters (not doing the math so that's just a guestimate), why not just triple the XP needed for leveling instead of cutting it with lower leveling requirements?

gone through several hours of play just for a about 4 bars into level 50. at this rate its probably gonna take weeks to reach level 60 without something to help test if everything is all there. im not prepared to grind this little for the testing results. however if the intention was to increase the grind then it has succeeded.

    a few points of note;

the target reticle has messed up, distant enemy identifies all merge on your ship as if it was a target, allied or enemy doesnt matter, when you get close it resets itself.

login on the char screen show rear admiral lower grade at level 50, in game its showing vice admiral level 50.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

I just love how so many of you have been BEGGING and PLEADING for Delta Rising to include a lot more story content than we usually get with seasonal updates, and now just because it looks like (and remember this is VERY early in testing) leveling will be much slower for 50-60 and "increase the grind" as you guys put it, you all lose your minds.

The devs have said several times that Delta Rising will have "at least" the same amount of content, if not more, than Legacy of Romulus. LoR included 30+ levels of storyline content. Even if they only give us 2/3 that amount of storyline missions, that would still be 20 levels worth, squeezed down to fit in 10 levels. Slowing down the leveling curve from 50-60 makes absolute perfect sense to me.

I feel the same way. Fast leveling through level 1 to 50 is fine, but to reach level 60, there must be a change in that mentality, and the devs went all out on that. I, for one, am appreciative of that effort. Plus, the excess skill points you have right now will go toward the specialization points (unless I'm wrong in that assessment).

Well, I'd reserve judgement until a later build, but as it is now (~36k for 51 vs <1k per non replay mission) you'd essentially would have to play the whole of LoR just to advance one level. Now add post 60 progression via further specialization points onto that and it gets kinda crazy. Hope later builds will have more reasonable numbers, especially in regards to the many alts around on the great most of accounts.

It's obviously not balanced toward people leveling only with previous mission replays. We'll have to wait and see how the new post-50 content is balanced before actually being able to judge how long it takes to level. I will say this, I ran a story mission on Elite last night (Where Angels Fear to Tread) and got almost a whole bubble just from killing NPCs in the first one and a half maps. For whatever that's worth.

And you then cut out a good chunk of the decent testers to what end? Just shows none of you have learnt you're lesson from LoR, when stuff isn't tested properly and the fiasco that created. I know I say that we need a dedicated group of testers but this is not the way to be going about it, and I'm seriously concerned this release is going to be another complete shambles...

Just so you know, the lockout of Silver players didn't happen for Legacy of Romulus, it happened for Season 8, which was after Legacy of Romulus.

I would reserve the rage and flaming until we get a bit more solid data, yeah.

Like levelling missions, item upgrades, etc. Save your rage and complain when those stuff come out and they don't work or require insane grind.

As it stands on tribble now, I went to do fluid dynamics for the first time on my rom-fed. This toon got to level 50 way before the borg missions so fresh start, the mission rewards as they are; 542 skill and about 1500 expertise, so this ( as it is now ) is very low. I for one feel they are doing this so we don't burn through the tribble testing..... if not then oh boy!

that would be shooting themselves in their foot though. when testing, you need access to every gameplay related thing the game has to offer to see for any possible errors or exploits. if it's behind a 3-4 week grind wall, it defeats the purpose of testing.

kinda like what the undine rep was in 9. there was no way to actually get the undie marks fast enough to test the new traits other than constant grinding that nobody did, because why waste time grinding on tribble when you won't even be able to keep that? not to mention the tribble stfs/battlezone were ghost towns.

it's better to grind on holodeck if you're in the mood for grinding, at least you can use the things there.

I'm not paying more money to them to do something I don't like, and frankly I've payed more money to the game than a lifer would have to pay to get the lifetime, so really if you want to put it down to that it still sucks that I can't put my skills to use. If they actually listened to the good testers this game would be in a much fitter state than it is now, so until they listen they aren't getting another dime, and also a bad reviews from me at this rate...

Every time they have locked silver players out (and it's only been maybe two or three times), they have opened it up to them several weeks later. Have no reason not to expect the same this time.

This is all still in flux, but we are purposefully moving away from the "Mission per Level" XP rates that are common pre-50. We want players to experience a wide range of content during their journey to the new level cap, beyond just the story Episodes.

I'm wondering if this is just going with the flow.

I've heard many many times about people who didn't even play the story missions they would just play mirror invasion and be fully leveled in a couple of days.
We already tested this, and the rates pre-50 are unaffected, so nothing to panic about here.

Nothing has changed, 0-50 is the same as it was before.

They said that it was going to be an alteration of how we advance anyway. It makes sense that we would level differently from 50 to 60 considering just how long it's been since we made 50 and that it's going to be a different methodology.

Also considering the uproar over the advent of Tier 6 ships, it's smart to not TRIBBLE around with the current skillpoints layout in favor of an additional new leveling tree that is effectively separate from what we already have.

As for the actual rate of leveling and the experience reward curve, there's probably a sweet spot that will need to be teased out through feedback, but on the other hand if you look at the Crafting system as a bell weather then this could be more of the devs setting up goals as more long term.

They're probably tired of people burning through content in less than a few weeks.

Which is funny if you see them set up a grind and then are appalled when people grind too quickly and efficiently.

But the initial announcement said that they were going more story focused this expansion and felt that they had enough grind (repeatable content) that they could get back to plot based missions, which is a positive focus to me.

    So we wait.

Normally I would be on your side of this, but this is a free game with very few perks for paying - occasional exclusive rights to Tribble being among them. Saying you should be able to get everything that people who do pay just because you can't afford to pays goes a bit beyond what I am willing to give credit for on that point. It's like saying you should be able to get on the bus for free when other people are paying just because you can't afford it. I'm as into socialism as anyone, but there's a line where things stop being rights and start being privileges.

My point stands: if you want to have the same features as the other people who have invested in a LTS or monthly sub, you have the option to pay like they do. If not, you can wait until they unlock it in a few weeks. If you feel that you being able to play on Tribble is going to make a difference to whether the game is going to suck or not you have the option of prioritizing a few bucks to make that happen.

If, as people are saying, they won't pay because the devs won't listen anyway, then what difference does it make? They also won't listen if they let you in for free. So your points are all completely moot and you just come across as sounding bitter.

I want to try to get some things clear before this discussion continues (keep in mind I'm not taking a side here, just relaying information):

Tribble is not a 'preview' or 'early access' server. It is a code (specifically content code) testing tool.

The more players are in it, the more effective it is at its primary function: bug finding.

It may not be able to operate (though it has in the past) with brand new code at full testing capacity.

Cryptic attempted to solve this potential problem with LoR by inviting people who had shown the most interest in testing in the past (people who gave feedback here, filed bug reports for Tribble, etc.) regardless of Gold/Silver status.

Some vocal forum members who had not been selected for the closed LoR beta took offense, and made it known to the forums that they had. Many Gold members of this group argued that, because they payed for the game, they had the right to play on Tribble, regardless of previous testing.

In the testing for Season 8, instead of taking testers from a pool of the most interested, Cryptic simply excluded Silver players for slightly over a month.

The reactions on the forums were mixed - some Gold members thought it was the right thing to do, others disagreed, and although most Silver players on the forums disagreed with the decision, a few did agree with it.

For seasons 8.5, 9, and 9.5, no such actions were taken.

Now comes DR. They've done what they did for Season 8, but no one knows how long this lockout will last.

P.S. (It should be noted that Neverwinter's 'preview' server has not, to my knowledge, ever been locked out to Silver players.

Conversely, the test server for Champions Online is permanently inaccessible to Silver players.)

Currently level 55 on Tribble. At the current rate of progression, it would take an additional 3 and half hours to level 60. To go from 50 to 60 would take about 6.8 hours.

    Well said.

I would like to note that Neverwinter doesn't HAVE gold players, so they can't use that criteria ;) They could use some other factor, like people who have purchased from a list of packs like the Founder pack, I suppose.

Yep, I guessed that much yesterday when a single mission on elite got me 15% of the way to 51. Bort has mentioned that they are still working out the final process of getting to 60 and levelling will not be as simple as killing ships and completing missions. I suspect they will do a wipe before that system goes live so they can test that process similar to what they did in LoR after the level 20 early run during the closed beta, so don't get too attached to your Tribble toons at this point.

Let me just heap praise for how well the new Intrepid looks. Right now she's the most screen-accurate model in the game Fed side. Hope other ships get some love, too.

And are my eyes playing tricks or are the transporter effects on the character select screen...different?

This sounds like a good concept. I would respectfully caution against making any specific type content a requirement to progress. Keeping in mind the many different types of clientele you folks are tasked with serving. I read, yet don't participate in these forums to any degree, however, I know, (as I'm sure you do) the player base is most diverse, and passionate of their individual likes, dislikes, and play styles.... Its a shame that the intrepid has always been the feds version of the b'rel for kdf lol.

Although the b'rel did get a lot of love with torp/mine traits and the new rep gear from season 9 so maybe X2 could possibly make ablative armor more than just some 3+ year old gimmick that was setup back in the day as nothing more than a cash grab until word spread that it was useless.

Not necessarily. There is still 2 months to go for the launch of DR and at the current rate projected by some, a month should easily knock out the rise to level 60. That means, people will be reporting on various bugs as they progress, allowing the team to deal with things within a certain range for each patch. This gives them the time to focus on things in that range instead of dealing with the entire 10 level wide scope and all that comes with it. In the long run, I think this will be better for us, the players and how many bugs make it to Holodeck.
