"The website is experiencing technical difficulties. Normal game play is not affected."

Oooooh yes it is! As in "can't play, stuck at loading screens...."

That means if you're still logged in, you _should_ not experience difficulties....

In the past 20 minutes I've been getting massive stalls on the netgraph. Longest being almost 3 minutes of watching my ship rubber-band around Fleet Alert firing a single torpedo over and over... while my engines were at 0 and I had nothing selected. Finally getting a DC.
Since then it's just been solid unable to authenticate, and the couple times it got in, time outs after a few seconds.

    So frustrating T-T

Back in now. Let's see for how long...

Update : Wow, nearly 2 minutes till next DC.

And yeah, so happy that having an ARC account is mandatory for beeing granted the high honour of be one of the chosen few mortals that is allowed to bother Cryptic "support" with a ticket...

    This sucks.

    Update :
    07:04 On
    07:06 Off

So glad that "normal gameplay" isn't affected. Must be my be beeing an abnormal gameplayer then.

In the last hour, I've had:

    - Numerous 'Not Responding' during loading screens, leading to disconnects.
    - Several times that the number goes to 100, then disconnects me.
    - I had one instance of being stuck at 59% loading, then constant 'Not Responding' popping up, over and over again, for around 10 minutes.
    - Account server timed out.
    - Timed Out GameServer
    - Login Server timed out

I was starting to think it was just my connection, but apparently other people are having issues as well...

    EDIT:
Just did a tracert to their patch server, just to make sure, and there's no issues on the way. Jumps went fine and made it to the end with only a 167 ms on the final jump.

Yup, same here. I got timed-out after selecting my character. Now it's not even getting that far.

Way to go, Craptic!!! Bring on Season 10!!!

    This^^

I've been having the same issues for the past 45 minutes or so, switching toons takes 5-6 attempts... ran tracer, nothing on my end, looks like someone forgot to feed the server hamsters again

No issue here..... so this issue is likely a pathing issue, rather than a cryptic-side server issue.

Hail the fanboy! Was about time one showed up! Not a clue what's happening but it's surely _not_ Cryptic. 8-)

I plain can't connect. Has this been going on all day? I'm on ARC and it says can't connect to login servers.

If you're on ARC already you could use your "spare time" (out myself 8-/) to fire a few support tickets at them. Or to pick your nose. 8-)

p.s.: Only got that now : Think my post was misunderstood by some. I didn't suggest to fire tickets at ARC but at the "normal" STO support _using_ ARC.
You can't file bug reports/tickets from website if don't have ARC installed any more.
Don't think that ARC is causing the issues itself either.

Actually, more often than not, connectivity issues are with an AT&T hop near the region of the servers, than at the server's location themselves. This has been common knowledge for years.
Yes, Cryptic has a long track record of messing things up [or exploding them trying to do something completely unrelated], but that's no reason to drop the "fanboy" bomb when someone says something without insulting Cryptic, just because you don't like Crytpic.

It isn't just ARC related, I have not even been using ARC, and have had this problem tonight as well.

Not a "fanboy", merely an IT professional (someone who actually get paid for work by publicly traded companies for their IT issues and needs) providing an educated guess as to where people should be looking for the issue.

My recommendations would be for people to pathping and tracert and see where the issue is in their path to the servers.... as they are likely going to find a spike of high latency. It additionally wouldn't surprise me if the same people find they are pathing through congentco.... as once again there have been pathing issues through them (due to their incessant snubbing of theirs nose relating to peering agreements).

I've been away from STO awhile; does this crashing happen often now?
When it occasionally happened pre-Arc the forums would contain acknowledgement of the problem & that a fix was in the works.
    Don't they do that anymore?

No now they just leave us in the dark. I guess we are supposed to have devs on our twitter accounts or something. I guess having followers makes them feel important or something. No the communications have went from so so to down right horrid. I haven't played a MMO with worse communication then this one the last 6 months or so.

Oh an yes I have been timing out connecting to toon server... and discoing when I do manage to get in. Guess I'm off to do something more useful for the rest of the evening.

AT&T, Cogent, the man in the moon... The storyline will end up the same. Fanboys will argue : "It's AT&T, Cogent, the man in the moon. How can that ever ever be a Cryptic problem?"

"Haters" like me wil say : "If Pizza delivery service makes great pizzas but it's delivery driver fails to deliver them constanly, why .. .... doesn't he fire the guy a get a better one? _For years_"
And why .. ... am i still here. Guess i really hate pizza...

I've been wanting to play with a friend, who's from US, he has the same 'server not responding' TRIBBLE, he doesn't use ARC.. so there's definitelly something going on... just for some people though. I'm playing from Europe and have no issues whatsoever.

Unfortunately there's no way to "fire" peering companies. People on the ends of the chain don't really have much choice on the path their data takes.

Been happening to me too. It even cost me 10,000 dilithium and a Rich Dilithium claim during the Dilithium bonus weekend.

Put in a ticket but of course that means jack.

So, you just negated your own reason for calling that person a fanboy, and alluded to me attacking you while in my own glass house by saying you shouldn't attack people.. somehow?

I can't make heads or tails of what you said...

Even Mr. Smith and his wife could switch ISPs - including the ISP partners.
Based on the assumption that they really have a choice where they live. Which prolly isn't true for many Mr. Smiths....

So putting the blame/need to act on Mr. Smith and his wife is inefficient. If you intend to fix the problem.

I don't know how high Cryptic/Atari/PWEs budget for their ISPs was/is but i'm pretty sure it's giving them a louder voice than my twentyandsomebucks give to me, you or Mr Smith.
And if talking to their ISP does change this i'm sure they can "easily" change their ISP or even "move" their servers.

But it's probably cheaper to just ignore the problems...

And all of this has already been said a thousand times before. And all of what you're going to say probably as well. We'll see. 8-)

Very well possible. Either because you really can't or you just don't want to. Shouldn't be too hard for an average brain.
