While looking at the available carriers to players and the differences they each have, I noticed quite a few differences that each faction has. But lets put that aside for now and look at a few ships with one similarity:
Klingon Vo'quv class
Klingon Kar'Fi Battle Carrier
Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier
Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Dreadnought Carrier
Now looking at these few you will notice 1 thing each of these have in common: Their ability to deploy frigates.
Now I don't know if the boys in the STO Development Dept. are planning to make such capable craft for the Federation and Romulan Republic, but as a player who acts like a Deferi, I would enjoy seeing a balance of this for all factions.
After a bit of search on the interwebs, I came across this cannon heavy carrier, the Thyphon (Not Typhoon)
The bit of lore that I could find was this: "The Typhon entered service shortly after the end of the Dominion War and has been described as a mobile outpost and a carrier starship. It is capable of carrying up to twenty-six Valkyries. This vessel would be best described as an escort or jeep carrier. It is able to support small scale operations and independently if needed. There are currently 28 in service with another 22 planned. "
Apparently this ship was also featured in Star Trek Invasion. Never played it but, either way. Im not sure if many would support this particular ship but as I said. Having a Frigate deployable carrier for all factions would be a nice balance factor imo.

And, personal opinion here, but that ship doesn't just look like it got hit by the ugly stick, it looks like is IS the ugly stick!
This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!
Hey, I will design ships and all they have to do is pay me in Zen and cookies.
Yep they are trying to move the game away from canon or fanmade ships lol.
So if you can't handle the load that does justice to an IP just change the IP to your version rofl.
Technicaally though based on their thought process that would mean it would be redundant to go to a star trek convention to try to get ppl to play your game if its not going to be about star trek anymore... Ironic...
I'm sure we all would love to just give it away, unfortunately the legal system says otherwise. :P
Indeed, these new ships don't even look close. You showed pictures to Star Trek fans at the con, they were like "what is that"? "That's Federation? "
And most Trek fans don't want to play STO, especially recently. You couldn't pay them.
Then the solution is simple:
Hire the people willing to design new ships for them, and have them do it pro bono.
OP, we already have a Typhoon Class in game. Why you want that ugly ship when we have this.

Where is the proof on your statement?

Maybe you should have been watching the live feed to the interview during the Q&A.
Cryptic are not interested in doing any more ships from non-canon sources, the Vesta and Luna classes were the rare exceptions but they're more interested in creating new designs aside from the last few remaining canon ships from the show that they want.
It does LOOK like it's been shot out of a cannon...
But I am not sure when I saw this on-screen... So if you meant canon, then no... it's not... It may be soft-canon (havn't read the ST books), but it's not canon.
I'm waiting for the transcripts .... I don't have time to sit for hours on the computer just to listen to it.

Blame the new R&D to get me on the forums. Ingame 3 years and only recently cared for the forums.
I'm sadly very skeptical on the Jupiter class imo. But could work both ways.
Also to point out, only 1 ship in the Federation shipline can support carrying another frigate onboard. And that's the Oddessy. That thing isn't even remotely close to carrying another.
When it comes to profit and cost. Make a dual/tri variant version of the Typhon, and people will pay for an ACTUAL Federation designed heavy carrier. Prove me wrong. No other ship currently made, NPC or not, doesn't fit into the role for Fed and Rom players to use. Aside from the Xindi one and I personally don't feel like shelling out 250+ mil EC for one.
But. Maybe we'll get a surprise at the new T6 ships and get a heavy carrier. If So. I'll gladly fly one.
Oh the humanity.... Oh the insanity.... Oh the Empty Queue bugs....
I am really fond of that ship though. Invasion was the first game I ever played on Playstation, and I still have it. One of the few Trek games that apply the fighter shoot em up style and still feel like a trek game, partly because they have you doing a ton of non shooty stuff and rescue missions.
Here's the video of the two ships together: Skip to the 1 minute mark.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

You're right. There is only one Typhoon class. But this is about the Typhon class.

Looks like the "ugly stick mythos" has faded since I was a kid.
That ship looks like it fell out of an ugly tree and bounced off every branch on the way down.
That's how ya do it.
(That's also an understatement about how hideous the Typhon class is, just to be clearly on-topic.)
Burn it with FIRE!!!!
god that thing is Ugly
That Jupiter thing I could totally see as a carrier. It's just a bit too ugly. But maybe some STO artist could revisit it a bit and give it some alternate parts (I am sure some would be angry if they couldn't recreate the original NPC look, and I like to have options.)
I too would love to see some balance, but it has to go ALL ways.
Did you happen to notice, in your research, that romulans have NO carriers at all? Balance would mean roms get a real carrier, feds get frigates, feds get a scimitar-like ship, roms get a real "cruiser" (with commands), roms get a real sci ship (not locked behind a fleet tier 6 shipyard either), and so on.
Balance is not "give the feds everything" in other words, which is often the unsaid demand to "balance" demands.
I would love to see the feds figure out how to put, say, mirandas on the cat carrier. Fine. But if that happens, the DD needs to get 2 bays for romulans, and the karfi pets need their deployment time to be reduced.
