is season 10 make or Break for sto

i am of the Opinion Season 10 will be Defining moment for sto if not sucessful i Believe even the die hard fans will find it hard to stick around till some time in 2015 for 10.5 dont get me wrong i want sto to be around for as long as possible but i have noticed People have drifted away from the game i only have to check out my friends list to see that its now time for devs to step up to plate and deliver and make us see we have not spent our money in vain


what do you guys think

    My opinion is that it's been asked enough. It has been ask before 7, 8, 8.5, 9 and 9.5 hit. Will STO die? Apparently not.

    You know expansion 2 happens first, right?

    I would say that Season 5 was the Make It or Break It Season. If Expansion 2 fails, then there will be less chance of Expansions being done any more, but it is PWE that controls whether they lose faith in STO and give less support for it. Lots of MMOs have survived for years after the main playerbase had completely lost faith in it.

    I didn't follow all the podcasts, inerviews and stuff but did we get any info of what exactly we'll get with the new expansion? I'm asking about actual content not the next lottery box and dil sinks, just to clarify that.

    For all intensive purposes, and I have said this before the release, season 9.5 was never anything .5ish. It was a meager patch to crafting and that was it! More threads have since popped up indicating that it will likely take the average player about 300 days to achieve a lvl 15 in any specific crafting school. That means it would take most normal players at least 2 years to max out lvl 15 crafting in all schools for just ONE character; which means most people aren't gonig to bother. This patch was a get rich quick scheme for cryptic, make everyone pay $100 in zen to convert to dil to advance through a couple of crafting schools in no time flat.

    STO is already dead. The game will be shut down by the end of August

    Not really, people retain a selective memory about this sort of thing.

    Every milestone of the game seems to generate a new Doom thread, or a "Is it time for STO2" thread

    For a player to take 300 days to get to level 15, then it would require logging in only 2.3 days a week. So most weeks log in for just 2 days and for the rest log in for 3 days. Logging in each day for 5 minutes to just do crafting takes less than 105 days using just the 20 hour XP project. Also in 5 days, 3 project slots are unlocked so the "average player" would get 3 schools to level 15 not one school in 300 days.

    The .5 Seasons will always be lackluster. Season 8.5 just had the Quick Equip and Loadout Feature, a lockbox, and a few missions. Before Season 8, we still had these updates, but they were not called anything special. So Season 9.5 fits being called a .5 Season.

    Just out of curiosity when is X2 supposed to be dropping? Or has there not been any mention of a date?

    Nothing will happen. Everything that scares away one part of the playerbase because they don't like the decisions Cryptic made, like me, will majorly appeal to another part of the playerbase that loves social games and instant gratification and that's porbably even the majority.

    So no, nothing will happen aside from your personal decision wether you like it or not.

    Late 2014... My best best is late november, early december... But thats only a Guess.

    They did that a few years ago actually... Left before a 5 day holiday, leaving a epic nasty patch broken on the servers.

    Where can I find out info on what they are thinking about for the X2 update?

    Also was there a post or a calendar page that showed when the next seasons would possible come out and what they would have in them?

    Thus far, only slight info has been released in various podcasts and tweets...

    We know that they are working on "a metric ton of ships"... thats 2000 pounds, so it can't be a lot.

    Nothing Official-official yet though.
