New melee weapons i'd like to see

meldrithpwmeldrithpw Member Posts: 360 Arc User
basically there are 3 that I've been thinking about that should be easy to implement, and should not require any new action graphics beyond what's already in the game, just really a little costume tweaking.

1) the JH polearm. if NPC's can wield them, it shouldn't be that hard (says the guy not doing the coding) to make it available to PCs.

2) Lethean Gauntlet. In TNG we saw this item in Whorf's holo battle training simulation. I don't know what it does, but want one.

3) Claw caps---with Caitians, Ferasan, Gorn and other miscellaneous aliens that have the claw option for hands, let's actually see the claws do different damage than a punch or kick to the head. claws should have additional shield penetration and/or apply a bleed DoT.

with 9.5 I'm hoping that eventually i'll be able to make a dang mk xii sword too. I don't want a bat'leth or a Lirpa, gimme a dang purple sword!

The Breen boff should come with the stabby icicle thing the Breen NPCs use.

There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.

I believe you mean, in order:

    - Klingon D'k tahg
    - Klingon Mekleth (Crappy pic, but hey, watch DS9 Season 4)
    - The dagger that's visible on the Mirror Universe belt

I support all three of these.

    What about Mirror Sulu's rapier?
That wasn't mirror Sulu. That was "drunk" Sulu in TOS Season 1, Episode 6: The Naked Time

I'd love to see more variety of melee weapons in the game, even though my player character probably wouldn't use them. Probably get some for some BOFFs though! All of the weapons suggested thus far would be pretty cool.

While we're wishing, I personally hope people don't forget an Ushaan! :)

In addition to new melee weapons, pistols need a serious overhaul. There is no reason to wield a pistol over an rifle right now. Suggestion: Make pistols (single) and one-handed melee weapons combinable to form a hybrid of both weapon types.

Also, melee weapons with added byonettes (KHG and AKHG) should have an melee bonus.

And a stun-baton type weapon for Starfleet would be a neat addition.

Well, I'd hoped that with crafting we'd see at least some options here, but I don't see melee weapons listed on the crafting table....

Any chance we could get that? (probably should be under 'personal weapons').....

I would love to see axes, gladiator type webs, blades, machetes xD, hammers and a lot of stuff. Wishing and asking is free, right? lol. I know we will never see more melee weapons in the game, so dreaming in the forums is a way to get out all the stress acumulated.

What about the whip that the Ferengi used when they first encountered them in Next Generation? When they "whipped it" at a target it shot an energy beam that stunned the Enterprise away team.

The Ferengi Whip is in the Lobi store, 50 Lobi if I remember correctly.

Anyways... I wouldn't mind seeing more melee weapon choices as well. They've got the animations for the Jem Polearm and knives/daggers and stun battons. Why not make them available for players?

I was surprised to find out that in STO, the D'k tahg did not make it into the game while the Bat'leth did. The D'k tahg was seen in Star Trek far more often, and was more practical to be found than a big Bat'leth.

    Yep

    In order for me:

Mekleth (Especially with Worf's consistent use of it in recent episodes)

    D'ktahg

Caitan Claws actually doing decent damage! (They are based on the Kzinti for goodness sake, some of the most feared hand to hand combatants in the multiverse but STO treats them as barely better then a human). Perhaps adding in a Guantlet option with some generic swiping animations would fit this and the Glove/guantlets of other species as well. (Nausican armor comes to mind).

Earth Swords (if nothing else we need three representives)
    -Claymore/broadsword
    -Katana
    -Raipier

Stun Batons/escrima sticks perhaps charged with energy damage?

I'd kinda like to see an Earth naval cutlass as a weapon in the game. I think it'd suit.
