In reference to @dragonsbrethren remark on rarity, believe it or not, unless it has the [Dmg] mod, weapons do the same damage across the board regardless of rarity. It's the Mark that changes the damage. The other mods just give accuracy, or change the chance/damage of a Critical Hit. It's interesting that we are using lower tier ships against a High-DPS vessel, but I don't recommend limiting it too much on the defending team as that was one of the reasons the DW re-enactment (Dominion War) failed.
Yeah, if restrictions were to go into place, I'm not sure if lower mark or less mods would be the better call. I was running [acc]x2 plasmas for our runs, with traits to boost my crit chance and damage. I believe I came in third in damage, but that was with my power on balanced for nearly all of the match.
I do agree to an extent on the restrictions, mostly because it'd be annoying to need to store a separate set of equipment for each ship I want to use in this. That's the reason I've drifted away from using a different set of gear for my STB and 'normal' loadouts.
Taking away the CC did also make it a bit more even but IMO gave the aggressor an advantage. After taking the CC away we were only able to do 2 kills? Something to think about.
We were also fighting one down at that point, but I still thought it was more than two? Honestly I wasn't paying attention to the kill count. Was more concerned with the "feel" of the combat.
I am more than happy to wade through a sea of cc as my build is set of to be resistant to these things. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying they won't effect me it's just that it takes a dedicated and geared build to "shut me down". May I ask who and what DPS builds you have tried against? As most DPS builds are not made with this kind of resistance in mind. Would really like to try a game or two today and I should be around for a few hours, need to check if I have a channel invite.
Most of the builds we've come against were Aux2bat FAWboats.
Generally, my opinion for the entire event - play rough, play hard but don't forget - this is just a game.
For the ships, I was thinking, evenly balanced builds. Not focusing on DPS or survival, just an even balance between everything, instead of "glass cannons" and "unbreakable tanks". I am thinking, though, there should be a couple of DHC on the Aggressor or something, just as punishment for entering the forward arc of a huge battlecruiser.
Really not sure what to say AoE/CC abilities. Holds, well, hold a ship in place, but they're not unbreakable. Polarize hull, evasive maneuvers, etc. Singularity jump. A decently balanced build could shrug off gravwell and a tractor beam while maintaining decent movement.
Rules, debating between "endless respawns", which tips the favor in the Raiding Party, or one life, which tips it to the Aggressor.
Endless respawns, as long as at least one Raider is still alive? That way the Aggressor just has to finish off the last players in combat to win?
We'll if it's about the fun and not the winning I would have thought an arbitrary kill count for the Capitol ship with a case of how many can they take out before they are dragged down? That way there are no winners or losers just a challenge to do the best you can?
(Just realised I went full children's TV at the end there)
Are we still on for this weekend ? Just name the time and I will make sure I am available just need to sort myself out with some scorpion fighters to drop out my drone ships then I'm set.
Did this ever occur? I didn't log on as I didn't know if last weekend was actually the date that it was actually occuring? If it didn't happen last weekend, will it this weekend, or did I miss it?
Nothing ever happened, we were trying to get a group together Saturday but just didn't have enough on at the same time. We probably could've done it Friday, but no one brought it up. Hopefully we can set a more definite date/time for this, maybe next weekend?
We ended up playing one of these yesterday against bethshepard's Scimitar. The raiding party won by 3 points. We did skirt the rules a bit and allow a t5 ship to come on the raiding party, but hopefully that didn't skew things in our favor too much. The Scimitar got a Scorpion Fighter as an escort, that makes up for it, right?
It was pretty fun, more fun than any of the previous practices we did. bethshepard recorded a video, but I forgot to save the link, hopefully she can post it in this thread so everyone can check it out.

Yesterday was a very slow day for the channel, you didn't really miss anything. I don't think we ever had enough on to get one of these going.
