Starbase 16, a new(ish) RP fleet

Starbase 16- Tyson Station

Comissioned in the 23rd century after the Klingon-Federation war ended, Starbase 16 was placed on the new Klingon-Federation neutral zone in the Volenarus System, along the outer arm of one of the largest nebulae in the quadrant. It acted as the perfect buffer, as the nebula exhibited several different unknown phenemona that prevented ships from entering it.

After the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the base was decommissioned, after Starfleet decreased its presence on the border. The station fell into dissuse and disrepair until the 2360's, when it was taken over by pirates and used to stage incursions into the Empire, running Cargo and other smuggled goods. The Federation was unable to take the station back.

In 2408, two years after the new war had started up between the Empire and the Federation, Starfleet Command decided it would be best to have more bases on the border between the two powers, and they decided to recommission Starbase 16. It had been completely abandoned by now, with most of the station's 200 year old systems totally shut down, beyond repair.

Captain William Plourde, in 2409, was given command of this station and for the first year, the station crew had to work hard to keep the station up and running, rigging many of the old systems to run adequately. As Starfleet resources were stretched thin with the many crises being experienced, they were unable to divert the much needed supplies to SB16.

Shortly after the unofficial end to the war in 2410, the station was attacked by a Klingon Bird-of-prey wing. Their commander had ordered the wing into radio silence, and did not receive news of the ceasefire. They attacked the station, nearly destroying it. At the last minute, Captain Plourde and the starbase crew was able to reroute nearly all emergency and auxiliary power to the shields, and the High Council contacted the General, ordering him to stop his assault.

It has been five months since the attack, and the base is finally refitted to 25th Century standards. With the new peace with the Klingon Empire, the station crew has to adjust to a different life. The Federation may be at war with the Undine, but once again, they have allies. Romulans and Klingons, all converging on this station for diplomatic summits, trade negotiations, and border crossings.

And even as the station's busyness increases. The Volenarus system has two large gas giants within it, and the moon of Volenarus I has been deemed colonizable by Starfleet. Cargo ships, dozens of them, appear every single day, offloading supplies and other cargo, being used in this immense colonization push on this rather small, and out of the way moon.

Starbase 16 is a Heavy Roleplaying Fleet that aims to conduct a Starfleet RP experience based around life on a space station (Such as what is seen in Deep Space Nine). We RP as realistic as possible within the Star Trek setting, and are looking for more members to RP with us! We are a tight nit, but small group of players.

Our chat channel is called SB16, and it is an IC channel, used to request permission to dock with the station. Feel free to join if you want to come hang out!

The Highest rank in the fleet, of course is Captain. Since Plourde is an Admiral, all characters serving on the station should be Captain or lower. If you wish to be a Starship Captain assigned to the system where the station is ICly, then that can easily and willingly be arranged. In particular as well, we are looking for players willing to RP civilians who may work on our promenade.
