Since there's no longer need for the sales to be moderated by Valve, can we finally get a reasonable discount on the Steam Starter Pack please?
The discounted that pack when it was released and in spite of this games purportedly raging popularity when the steam-pack came up people voted to discount things they would actually pay for.
It still is a great ship ... it's only problem i'd say is the ensign science bridge slot ...
But that is offset quite nicely by the Tac & Eng bridge slots making it very powerfull.
This is also one of the few store ship that has 10 consoles that is not a fleet ship. (DEV >>> GIVE US FLEET StReamRunner)
I really hope they run the promo. I can't justify spending $25 on a ship, but if it's 50% off, I definitely would pick it up. Come on Cryptic. $12.50<$0.
It's euros for me, so it's an even bigger deal in my case and more the reason to buy it at a discount, as over 20 euros for a ship is just way too steep of a price.
No ide what they're thinking. They've updated the Steam's front page and STO store page with new season info. It would be a great opportunity to do at least -50% discount on starter packs, to lure new players in. Basic marketing strategy...
you have to remember that looking at it as a $25 dollar ship is shortchanging it a bit, you're getting two ships and a few bits for a starter(per the name) and a fleet level escort that serves as well as a striker and a punching bag(4 eng consoles and 2xlt.eng) that's an account wide unlock, makes me shake my head when people buy 2000 zen just for the fleet ship modules to get things like the patrol escort(ignoring those who grind in game that's a good thing that I encourage among fleetmates)

There's only one ship, the Steamrunner. The other bits are worthless, with better items available on the Exchange worth less than 2K EC combined, meaning a new player could sell his starter gear and be able to immediately afford better stuff than what is in that junk starter pack.
So yeah, $25 ship is entirely fair. It also happens to be in line with the standard price tags on other $25 ships.
You're spending $25 on a fleet-quality ship, a console, and some other freebies. Since 4 fleet modules are 500 zen each, and some ships require 5 fleet modules (like the Excelsior or B'Rel), I'm pretty sure that $25 is still a bargain even without the discount.
I bought it when it was on sale. So I'm lucky in that regard. Sorry if others didn't, but oh well.

just because one of the ships is a lt. level starship doesn't mean you can't count that it exists, buying a lt. ship, a zen ship, and then the module for an upgrade at fleet level will set you back 3500 zen total, ignore the extra bits if you want, as I said they're extra, not worth a lot but fairly nice to have as a gimmy
I bought it when it first came out great ship I seldom use.
I have the same problem myself. I love it, but all my Fed characters have their 'signature' ship that I like having them in. I only have one character that really fits in it, and I love having her in that ship.
Heck, I even built it to be an Artillery Ship like in ST: Armada. Mk XII Tricobalt, Bio-Neural Warhead, Wide angle Quantum Torp, Mk XII Tricobalt Mines (with 1 beam array and 1 beam bank for shield stripping), and 4 Purple Mk XII Tricobalt tactical consoles.
Against buildings and unshielded ships, the Heavy Tricobalt III can vape almost anything. I've taken that little borg nanite box (from Vortex Elite) from 78% to ~15% in one hit with it.

You picked it for arty instead of the HEC?(my photon torpedo chaingun which should be a blast with the new undine/voth reps now)
It's 23 in my country, which is WAY more than 25$ when converted to my local currency.
And as it has already been said, nobody cares about the "starter package" now, especially after the revamped FED starting content, which gives you free boffs and equipment after every mission. It's essentially a ship and a console as it stands.
Cryptic has been doing Ship Sales in the C-Store, so I see no reason they shouldn't do it on Steam again, especially considering it's already the biggest PC gaming platform, where many people buy stuff "just because it's cheaper".
Personally, I just want the Steamrunner, but the Euro price is just way too steep for a virtual item, especially since it's not even up to par with all the recent power creep nonsense.
I should have bought it when it was -60% off at launch...
.... there is no Stream. Only Arc..... there is no Stream. Only Arc.....
You may be onto something there. PWE wouldn't want to promote another (better...) service with their own (shi***y) client around.
Kinda sad, really, because at this point I don't even care about power or performance, and I'd just like to fly the Steamrunner in the game, as I like the design. However I'll never be buying it at full price, especially considering the Euro price is really absurd when compared to the Dollar price, so no way I'm getting this without a decent discount at any point.
Steam Summer sale would be a good time to put the starter pack on a discount, but I guess Cryptic/PWE don't want players using Steam and would rather force them to use Arc.
Comments
More seriously, this is unlikely. Cryptic knows players like the Steamrunner and they want $$$, so, a discount is unlikely

I've got more than that in Dilithium saved up, so why not.

hmmm. that is not working on you. That is odd.. You don't have independent thoughts, do you?
I also hoped that the Steam Starter Pack would go on sale.

Come on Cryptic, put the pack on a sale. Or at the very least adjust the euro price so it won't be such a ripoff when compared to dollar price.
