I can understand completely why there was the need for a complete overhaul on the crafting materials, and have no complaints about their existence.
My only gripe with them is the time-consuming effort of converting old materials into new materials. People who have stock-piled these research materials for whatever reason will be faced (at least in the current build of tribble) with hours of double-clicking and double-tapping the enter button to get through all of it.
My proposition is that a slider for bulk conversion be implemented. No-one wants to sit in front of their screen wasting time with converting materials, they just want it to be done and get on with their games. So, Cryptic, please implement a slider for bulk conversion!
Ok, thats good to know. It would be horrid if they rolled the update without adding the bulk conversion.
Well in fairness, such a feature would have a time-limited effectiveness. Eventually its usefulness drops to zero.
I am not saying it won't happen, I am just saying that if I were a cryptic development planner, it would be low priority for me.
Oh and before you point out that some people have loads, I'd like you to consider that I have 1000 of each common sample and more than 500 rare samples...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Personally, I don't see why they bothered with a manual conversion.
If the uses for the old materials are being discontinued, why even keep them around in the game? They should have just automatically mass converted the old to the new. Done. No tedious click conversion necessary.
If for some reason they couldn't have done that, then why didn't they just make it slider-based from the get-go?
They didn't know that excessive clicking leads to RSI? Or more importantly, that increased click count translates into a poor user experience overall?
This just makes me not want to test in Tribble until they fix the conversion process.

Because in a automatic conversion, people (especially STO people) will claim that the conversion didn go as planned and that they lost massive amounts of resources.
As to why it wasnt a slider in the first place? You got me... No clue.

....
It would be difficult at best for a Auto-convert, or even a Slider to cover all possible cases, as your talking about personal inventory, bank, account bank, BO device slots, and even items stored as Email Attachments... with additional complications, such as a lack of open inventory slots being possible and occurring during the conversion...

Our fleet has a large stockpile of these, because fleet holdings require them for science builds, and it saves time collecting them for some of the top crafters to make gear for the fleet. So it will be interesting to see how badly Cryptic nerfs the fleet holding projects related to the materials (you think it even entered their little minds before now??).
