It is a Risa-tacular experience indeed. Looking forward to what gets added next!
Lots to do already, and finally having gotten the swimsuits really adds a lot! I love the powerboard race, sand castle building, slick looking new area for the Risian bird researcher and new structures.
The dance still feels like it takes forever, but it's great for getting everyone in one location.
The little Pavel quest is cool. I'd love another few mini quests like that around the place to spend time on between events, or when I get done with events early.
It would be cool to occasionally pick up a Risian Pearl from events too, as we have the chance to do with eggs.
We still need a better way to get all our characters suited up and lookin' good...as it takes way too long to save up enough favors for each character. Would be cool if we got a heavy discount on items we've bought already for one character (ie: Superior Powerboard, Swimsuit, Superior Jetpack, and so on).
I'd also like to see more costume accessories. Even a bathrobe like Picard wore. I'd love to see a "tropical drink" emote that you can carry around with you in one hand or chill with on a bench laying down watching the sunset.
Oh, and the sunset is mostly blocked by the big ship now, but it's still a cool looking ship.
Having some kinda sunset firepit dance or storytelling mini quest or event could be cool.
Maybe treasure hunting a la diving and finding old coins, shells, etc and then returning them for rewards to a local Archaeologist (some Indiana Jones knockoff who wants to put them in a museum).
What is this "Risa" everyone is talking about? The planet with the summer festival has been renamed to "Griefa" in 2409.
FKA K-Tar, grumpy Klingon/El-Aurian hybrid. Now assimilated by PWE.

Griefa - because every tropical paradise needs snowballs.

For me, the swimsuits addition is a big fail. Swimsuits look far worst than i imagined lol. Too many graphic glithtes and clothes crippled everywhere. The Orion female uniform is far better looking than any swimsuit lol. The texture differences in the skin makes wearing swimsuits just embarrasing (i guess people doesnt care lol). If you look closer, the swimsuits have crippled edges that makes em look just really bad.
Some events are nice implemented but really bad executed (as always). Other events like the hoverboard races are a joke. The physics of any event, with the exception of the floater action, are a complete joke. People who never played a real good game from the last generation will be really amazed with the summer event and STO, but honestly they need to play more lol. I dont do the hoverboard races because they are pathetic. You dont feel that sensation of being over that thing. Its just ridiculous, but since people will play and enjoy anything, it doesnt matter. Im just saying that the job done in this event (and in STO for general rule, unfortunately) is really terrible. Lack of interest and work everywhere. I understand some people, specially those who are new to this life of playing videogames, are really amazed with this summer event and STO, but honestly.. you guys need to play more lol. In 2010, the game was great, it showed a graphic quality more than decent, but nowadays, that is beyond obsolete. Most people only play STO because they want something about star trek, thats all. But the summer event is terrible, a lot of people is dissapointed and i dont blame em. Its by far the worst thing cryptic did since long time ago (with the exception of not fixing bugs, of course, but that does not count on the plans of cryptic lol).
And now, they introduce the ability to even use snowballs on a map like Risa????.. people will like it, since as i said, they dont care anymore if things are right or not. I guess they only want cool things to use ... i hope Star Citizen cames out soon, i will need another game to play in a couple of months lol.
I don't think this is a thread for whining about the Risa event. This is a thread discussing the latest additions in the latest patch. If you want a soap box for complaining, there are PLENTY of other whine threads open for that purpose. Not everything has to be anti-Cryptic, anti-Dev all the time.
Yes, we want cool things like snowballs on Risa.
Of course, because someone can talk about the Risa event, but then, someone else cant whine about it.
This is like verything else, it turns out that when someone says positive things, everything is ok, when someone says negative things.. its not.
You guys are incredible.. seriously xD. I wonder what misterious force is keeping STO alive, seriously...
"Yes, we want cool things like snowballs on Risa.", STO is focused to kids, so its logical that most of you will like thinks like snowballs on Risa. I get that. But it is still not right.
There is no discussion here. Most of the changes they made in the last patch are TRIBBLE (as always). But i dont see anyone saying they dont like em. Just say that this is a thread to see how much we like the new "additions" and thats it. Dont call it a discussion when its not lol.

Money I'd say. And disco. Disco never dies.
You're free to disagree with the changes. Heck, your posts were more constructive than Assimilatedktar if we do have to compare. But honestly, adding in a whole 'man see you in Star Citizen' is not really constructive to any efforts.
(I'll also see you in Star Citizen, pumping out a fireworks-simile along the way)
____GREAT LEADERS LET THEIR ACTIONS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Frankly, this was a long time coming. There is absolutely no reason to block social items on a map like Risa, which is primarily used as a social zone (during the 10 or so months when the summer event is not going on). The Devs recognize this, and have made, what I believe, to be appropriate changes.
As horrifying as it sounds, I agree with a Dental leader.
I feel mildly unclean, but he is absolutely correct: Risa is a social zone first and foremost. Not having party balls and poppers and stuff active there is just plain wrong.
I'm 100% bored of Risa now. I just don't care if someone's hue-shifted a floating ironing board green.
Maybe it's just me, but I kind of play Star Trek Online for the science fiction. Bikinis and surf boards and magic disco balls don't really factor into what I want out of this game.
I always thought it was really weird and kind of stupid that party poppers and disco balls don't work on Risa. Sure, "devices" are disabled, but they can obviously exclude some devices from that restriction and it never made sense to omit the party stuff.
So thank you, Cryptic, for correcting this oversight.

Disco balls were never disabled. I see em all the time in Risa since the event started. Yesterday someone was using a disco ball in the transporter pad, and someone else was using a disco ball in the left side of the promenade. And someone else was using a disco ball in the resort beach point.
I started playin STO cuz i wanted a SERIOUS game about star trek and science fiction. But after 1 year playing.. i must say i am already searching for something else, because STO is not a science fiction game anymore.
AND BTW, i am not opposed to use disco balls and party things on Risa, but i am opossed to use em in other places. And of course its completely stupid to use a party amplifier on space. The first day i saw a party thing in space i asked myself.. wth i am playing..?

Disco balls to the right of them, disco balls to the left of them, disco balls in front of them. Volley'd and thunder'd.
I'm really enjoying the Risa Event. I've been having a lot of fun but I was disappointed I couldn't use my nerve tonic and I really wish there were more ways of earning pearls. It would be nice if maybe pearls were a random drop in the hunt like the eggs are. Since this is my first year with the event, I have no complaints and am glad to see they have now added the Romulan items. The lack of Romulan items is the only thing that has kept me from bringing out my little Romulans and now they are ready to party!

You're right, I don't know why I typed that. I think I'm going insane from too much STO
I like the summer n winter events i did stop play for 3mths n only came back for risa to see wot there added.
It makes a change from grinding rep n fleet stuff because i got realky bored of that.

Hint: Players who don't have an industrial-strength corncob up their behinds about the game not being exactly to their specifications. There's a reason all the little factions of malcontents repeatedly cite things like "silent majorities."

I like this update. In getting ready for Risa I bought a few of the old poppers. only to find out they were disabled. so I sold em off again. I am glad that the party balls still work, I found the discount vender for em and bought a bunch of em I still got 59 left and am looking forward to using em. (I( guess the discount was a glitch cause they have raised the price back up on this guy.

Psst- is there any chance one of the characters you're using to compare prices isn't a Ferengi, and the one who got the "discount vendor" is a Ferengi? You might check that...
