While it is still very early and we really have no info on the new system, do you think it will be time for a crafting forum? I would assume they would give it the same treatment as the doff system.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

I'll check when I get home. I have a lot of those "data samples" simply taking up valuable space in my inventory. I mostly limit them to a stack of 250; would be nice if they can stack to 999. The few Useful ones like minerals I keep 500 of 'em. Unfortunately, I have not been crafting much since it is not very rewarding. I used to craft a decent amount of things and was able to sell them fairly quickly on the Exchange at a decent profit. However, it seems the exchange is flooded nowadays with a lot of the consoles / weapons I used to craft and sell for a decent profit.
If I wanna make money now on the Exchange I simply look for undervalued items and flip them for a good profit.

Well, if these unique items become something which can be traded, there might be hope for viable profit as a crafter.
I hope so. Earning money via crafting has always been a favorite "job" I liked to do in games.
I'm guessing not, the crafting revamp will probably be little pieces of add-ons and changes that won't sum up to a large reaction from the community; therefore, why create a new forum section?
If they put thought and creativity into it, they might create something worth a forum section. But that is very unlikely.
Any crafting changes made are going to be pointless if you have to spend ridiculous amounts of dilithium for unreplicatable materials.
Bring back free crafting.
i won't mind spending dilithium if i can get a good unique weapon that is on par with other end game gear. they should have added mk XII gear to crafting the day they came out with it. as it is the only thing worth crafing was AP weapons, but now drops make them cheap on the exchange
If it turns out like Neverwinter's "crafting" system, I doubt we'll need a forum dedicated to it. Either way, I say we wait and see what it actually is first.
i have no doubt any crafting revamp will be little more than another thinly-veiled dilithium sink, further making the crafted items not worth the expense.
they will probably reset everyones crafting skill while they are at it.
I'm glad they're working on crafting, crafting in this game seriously needs a revamp, not necessarily the system itself but the way it's presented to players, ie actually presenting it to players instead of letting them guess thsat it exists. I never even knew there was crafting until recently when I thought to myself "why am I getting all this junk loot that recycles for 0 credits" and researched it on the internet, I may have missed it but there was no mission or even pop up tip telling me about crafting that I could see.

your right its a bit too early for it and there is no guarantees the system will take off either. its best to wait until the crafting system has been released on holodeck for a short while and then gather opinions, if its mostly positive the mods could get permission based on that positive reaction for a crafting section. last thing the forum needs is something like red shirt, like a ghost town.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
It should probably not be created before it's actually released, otherwise the forum will contain mostly of speculation that will be useless to anyone that actually wants to learn about crafting.
They will probably have a Tribble Feedback thread for Crafting when it hits Tribble (or Redshirt?).
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Been reading up on Neverwinters' version. If STO just copies that, crafting will still be pointless, except much much worse than it is now.
ROFL? I seriously think NW's best feature is the Profession. I can push buttons all day in my browser. Even while working. I have boss key lol.
I really hope they will put doffing, crafting and some gameplay like SCA in NW to the gateway. There are times when I can't launch a client but have access to browsers and can squeeze in a few minutes gameplay. Argh... can't wait!

Then how would it be any different from rep grinding? Crafting in other games is usually there to provide a "free" method of gaining kit. Some games go even farther and let you improve on base stock.
I'm unwilling to go through all that hassle and spend all that dilithium for another "rep" project. I originally levelled my crafting to get the aegis set but cryptic ruined that set with power creep.
In my opinion crafting should be for creating unique sets, creating useful consumables, upgrading base stock, choosing modifiers or even creating vanity items.
Comments
Yea, I was thinking they might go with that considering the heavy doff usage.
Thx.

Oh well I'm sure it'll be another grindfest...
Or possibly multiple "reps." They did say new "schools" to level up.
