as i always say, hindsight is such a useless thing. the mistake is made, you cant go back to change it and there is no point trying to rehash it. the enterprise thing is done and has been for years despite a good haul of money for the attempted season 5 at the time. even if such a thing were possible some of the actors and actresses wouldnt return to the series either because they dont want to or contracted elsewhere.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
I couldn't care less about an "Official" new series, I don't particularly care for the new films and probably won't bother seeing the next Trek film as it would just make me angry like the last Jar Jar Trek did.
This however: http://startrekaxanar.com/ , has me excited. I have a friend working on the project and it just looks and sounds amazing!
So depressing. I'm getting desperate enough to support that Enterprise Facebook page and I didn't care for Enterprise.
The fifth season was apparently supposed to touch on the start of the war with the Romulan's. I would have liked to have seen that. if we ever get a new Trek TV series, I hope it isn't based on the JJ stuff and that it is centered after all of the previous series. No more pre-dating stuff like they failed with by doing Enterprise.

They already screwed up enough with Enterprise, I'd rather the Earth-Romulan War remain as awesome as it is in my head -- instead of allowing Rick Berman and Brannon Braga to ruin the Earth-Romulan War (in addition to everything else they tainted pre-TOS) with more uncharismatic cast members, and blatant fanservice with no obvious tie-in to the actual story of Enterprise in order to get people to remember other Star Trek movies/episodes that were much better than Enterprise.
Enterprise would never have the budget for the special effects needed to really do the Earth-Romulan War the justice it deserves on the small screen -- and they don't have the raw talent to make it work on the big screen.
Season 5 is much better in everybody's imagination than those hacks could ever hope to tangibly produce.
I wasn't a huge fan of Enterprise, it lost me during the 'Time War' focus, but I did like some of the earlier episodes where it showed us humans exploring, and not being the knowledgeable and respected Federation like we're used to seeing.
I guess what I did like about the show, every so often, were the ones that reminded us 'this is all new' exploring, traveling at warp, and so on.

Not technically true. Hindsight allows you to see where you went wrong, so you know how to avoid repeating the mistake.
Too bad this didn't turn out to be true. But I'm still holding out hope that it'll happen ... someday ...
