Can't research more monkey tags (grayed out)

Ok, despite being last in every freakin' board race I've entered, I've gathered enough monkey tags the start research some monkey tag yesterday and that went fine, I got a blue monkey juvenile from it (but wasn't I suppose to get a baby?) this morning. So now I go back to the monkey dude and I can start the raising the blue monkey juvenile but the start monkey tag research button is grayed out now.

What gives?

    Same deal with Eggs, looks like hatch an egg has a longer cooldown than the quest it's self. Hatched an egg today to get a senior Tufted Grotto Glider (top tier critical success)- So seeing skipping of raising pet as well with eggs. I have to loose one more surfing event to start my Monkey!
