overflow bag jammed

so i didnt realize when i started the risa event earlier my bag was full. so when i got my first few of the favors, they went into my overflow bag. "oh well" i thought "i can just sell stuff real quick to this commodities person and then get my stuff." so i sold all of my random drops from yesterday and then went to grab my favors.
i click the button in my inventory "overflow bag". nothing happens. i try relogging, still nothing happens when i click the button.
so i figure "well my inventory is empty, i'll just go back to getting favors". i got 50 favors, and went to get a floater. the shop registers i have 55, apparently counting the 5 still trapped i my overflow bag. seeing as i have enough without those in the bag, i go ahead and try to buy the floater.
"do you want to buy "floater -black" ?"
hit buy
nothing happens. still shows i have 55 favors, and no floater.
play around a bit with the rental floater that i can still get with EC, come back with 100 favors, and still cant get a floater. tried getting a powerboard. nope. cant get those either. anything that requires favors, i cant get. this is a serious problem, especially since the powerboard race allows faster boards to win easier. being unable to buy ANY board, floater, or even the swimsuits, makes this a serious issue.
thankfully only one character is bugged, but he's the main one i planned to do the event with this year (did it on my other chars last year and i'm uninterested in doing it again with them.)

That normally works for me when the overflow bag can't be opened.
we really need a official, easy to find, workaround list for all these sort of bugs.
