I dont play andorians and i dont even have an andorian ship .. but... id like to visit andoria and see some of its culture...
i see many people playing andorians so i would like to see somethign liek bajor or new romulus but for andorians...maybe with something like epoh tagging ( but differet species).. or whatever....
it feels so weird visiting andoria with all the "replacer" npcs that all sellt he same items...
Andoria is tricky, as we didn't get anywhere near the insight into Andorian culture that we did for Vulcans, Klingons, Bajorans, even Cardassians.
I do think there are stories to be told on Andoria, and we've got some interesting angles for that. The Aenar would be my pick for a visit to Andoria on a mission. Maybe tie it in with the Undine arc, have Starfleet seek out the Aenar as their version of Jmpok's Lethean Undine hunters. We already know they're immensely powerful telepaths.
I still want Ushaan Tor knives as melee weapons, my captain is a proud Andorian, and right now he can't carry the iconic tool and weapon of his people.

I think faction race specific lore mission should be done with the Foundry instead. We can even use some place on Andoria to start foundry missions.
If it was an official release, KDF and Romulan would be much less interested, because they are not concerned at all.
I'm not a big fan of andorian myself, but if you like to tell stories, you have a tool. Or, if you find a story teller than want to do something about andorians, you'll have your story
Hell the game is missing so many planets it's not even funny. Can't even go into the alpha quadrant behind earth? What's up with that. Good quarter of the map which is basically EMPTY. No Betazed, half a dozen deep spaces or K space stations. No Gorn homeworld, or Orion homeworld.
Trust me this is the biggest area STO could improve upon. And seriously why do space stations like Starbase 37 not have even HALF of what ESD has?
Star Trek Battles member. Want to roll with a good group of people regardless of fleets and not have to worry about DPS while doing STFs? Come join the channel and join in the fun!
Remember, Romulan characters have to choose a side and are not really playing a unique faction unto itselt.
Doesn't make them KDF or Fed. They are Romulan, allied with... Just like the fed used to be allied with the KDF, didn't make the Klingon part of the Federation, did it ?
And the Romulan were also allied to federation during the Dominion war, or very shortly against Shinzon. They were still Romulan last I checked.
An Alliance doesn't mean they will suddenly care for a specific race or the Federation small issues.
Chances are your country is allied to several others. Even North Korea have allies (well, at least 1). Does it mean you are part of those countries ? Do you really care about some small community that is part of it ? Even if you do, I'm pretty sure that's for another reason than just "My country is allied to them".
This is precisely what many people who were against the Foundry were saying. That it would become Cryptic's cop-out for creating content.
I don't care whether or not KDF and NRR players would be interested in Andorian content on Andoria. This does not mean that I don't care about KDF or NRR players. Just that I don't care whether or not they are interested in Andorian content. There is plenty of content in the game that I don't particularly have an interest in, but I am glad it is there for those who are.
This is a race specific mission. And unless you wrap a "galaxy in danger" around that, which would felt forced, it would only interest Andorian, and to a lesser extent, the federation.
Maybe you doesn't care much if Romulan and Klingon are not interested, but you'll also have a lot of fed that will feel excluded. I know I wouldn't care much, as I have no Andorian, and I'm not a big fan of them.
I'm all for new FE and stories and whatnot. But I like stories I can play with any on my character, no stories I would play if I had an Andorian.
The Foundry is not to make content in lieu of Cryptic. In fact, considering the lack of attention the Foundry have from Cryptic, I don't even think they use it that way. But it's a good tool for content that Cryptic won't do for obvious reasons. Race specific missions are a part of that.
Also, if you start to go that path, it will never end. Vulcan player will ask for their missions, so will the Betazoid, the Bajoran... And when you are done, alien race players will ask the same, because otherwise it's unfair, and it will never end.
I respect people that like Andorian and would like to see more. That's why I said the Foundry is there to do such thing. Because Cryptic will not do it, and to be honest, I hope they'll never focus on a specific race. Unless it's part of a larger plot, like the storyline mission where you take the ambassador from Vulcan. But you can't have that for every playable race.

Yeah these should be the seasonal releases, rather than the yet-another-monster releases
If they did a mammoth release of homeworlds with missions, unique gear and so on for all the factions I'd support it 100%, it's stuff like that that would make this game a lot more interesting.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.
I for one would like more non combat lore missions
I have no idea if cryptic is up to the task, but I'd love missions that let use explore these cultures and histories
Less beam down shoot some guys, and more diplomatic talking is possible
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......

This is a better idea than missions based on race, lore missions on the homeworlds so any player can play them and interact with/learn about the other playable species. We have an episode and an STF on Bajor, and we ahve a diplomacy mission and an episode for Vulcan -- why not one or two small missions set on Andoria?

Agreed. Much is missing. But before they start adding planets like Tellar I or Betazed so they could just exist there as an empty placeholders, I do think they need to do something usefull with the ones that do exist, like Bajor, Vulcan or Andoria. Heck even some places on Earth. Only Risa is getting constant development as it is, mostly because of the repetitive nature of the Summer Event.
There was an Andorian discussion a while ago and what I said would be a good start to make these planets and social zones more lively would be adding some dailies that give out modest amount of dilithium like Nimbus III. Then add new Doff mission chains that occur specifically on these planets. Maybe tie a future storyline to pass through them. Add vendors, bank, exchange and mail services.
Then add something specific to each place, like for ex. on Andoria - Ushaan duels, ice-skating and snowball fights that give out a modest amount of EC. (Heck, just port them from Q's WW) There's much that can be done with the worlds in this game, but sadly they're just abandoned placeholders now because they have no substance to them.
I'd also like to see more use for the miscellanous food items in the game, as well as other specific items - and they could and should only be availible from vendors in specific areas. Something like Andorian cusine and merchandise on Andoria, Bajoran on Bajor, etc.
And you're right - there's no logical reason for the other starbases to not provide the same services as ESD. They're many many lightyears away, the sole purpose of existance is to provide such services.
There are a lot of races that are well represented by the players that don't have even a homeworld to visit.
Gorn
Nausicaans
Ferengi
Kittehs (Fed/KDF)
Orion (Come on... you KNOW you want to see it)
Andoria is just like Vulcan. There's not much to see there. Matter of fact, unless it's a Ground Battlezone or a Starbase of some sort, there's nothing much to see on any planet in this game. Another reason why the ground game is completely irrelevant to me. There's key locales like Vulcan that you don't get anything out of from visiting. Not a lot about their lore, history, or regular places where the people live.
If you could visit towns or even a village as was shown in the very beginning of the Romulan campaign, that would be nice.
As it stands now in worlds that are NOT Earth or Qo'nos, there's nothing to see anywhere. Except to talk to that 1 or 2 NPCs regarding a mission, kill something, then leave.
Nothing to see here.
Hell, Tellarite Prime, one of the Founding Member races of the Federation, cannot be visited at all.
Accolades for exploration that award unique titles (Imperial guardsman here)
Daily Officer of The Watch style missions that award ~2-500 dil and a 10-40 marks of your choice box.
Inter-hub-holding shuttles or just Mail/Bank/Exchange consoles
The things in parenthesis could be ad-libbed for any of the other empty social zones we have.
We need a .5 season where bajor, andoria, and vulcan get those updates just so they have some functionality in the game for players and aren't just aging novelties.
In the mean time though, one of my favorite things about season 9 is that a lot of these locations were revisited in some small capacity. Undine Assault in Andorian Space, Undine infiltration on Bajor, etc. That was a good move in the right direction, but I hope that don't think that alone is going to suddenly justify the existence of these empty areas.

I don't agree with the Epohh tagging thing....but I think Andoria SERIOUSLY needs an overhaul. There's a link to my Andoria post in my sig. You might dig it.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
