No, I saw that. His gut told him that. It was an opinion. He wasn't stating it as fact. He was making fun, lightheartedly, of folks that state their opinions as fact...and you jumped all over it as if he was questioning the fact of your opinion.

Thus 'round and 'round and 'round we go... :D

    - Stuff on difficulties -

The problem is you bring in the new nightmare mode - everyone struggles thinking its impossible, while a group of players work out how to cakewalk it like 3 minute ESTFs today.

The strugglers cry for nerfs rather than improve, which Cryptic has to give into, meaning those people who could do the new content now have nothing to do.

As you correctly point out, we have to find a way to put people into content that is at their level, and balance it for everyone's level so that no one level of difficulty is the best rewarding.

So: Consider a game like Forza Motorsport. On my day I am a top 1% worldwide player, equivalent to a 20k+ DPS'er in STO. So I race (and win) against the AI on its hardest setting. Obviously, others race against the AI on easiest settings, and because the only difference in reward is experience points and money, both of which are very easy to obtain, people naturally go for the most suitable AI level.

But, in STO, because only Elite STFs rewards are worthwhile, everyone has to do ESTFs, which causes problems for everyone. Solution? Make lower ability level content as rewarding as higher level content, and that way uber-casual 2k DPS rainbow white/green Mk X builds wont have to be carried by much better players in ESTFs anymore.

There is no conflict of interest between PvE players and PvP players in STO. PvP players test a lot of stuff extensively, find out that it's bugged, then report it which *sometimes* results in it being fixed. There are a small group of forum goers who are anti-pvp who blame PvPer's for these fixes and claim wrongly that they are nerfs.
It's in everyone's best interest that the game lean more towards being balanced and I can't speak for the PvP community as a whole but that's really all we want is for TRIBBLE to not be broken and at least a little balanced.
Like it's been said "A Borg Sphere can't submit a ticket for itself on how the Disruptor proc is bugged".

    Wait

    Wait wait

    waitafrickin minute

STO has had nerfs... to PLAYERS?

    R:DFL

This is the easiest game since Candyland and people are complaining about nerfs. \o\ \o/ /o/ \o_ _o/ \o/

The funny thing about most PVP haters is that they're right, except that they're too ignorant of the game to realize that they're wrong about why they're right.

PVP balance does ruin the PVE game (in space) but it doesn't have anything to do with nerfs or fixes. It goes all the way back to the beginning of the game, where the classes were set up to be complementary and balanced for PvP or a PvE game that resembles PvP, with small numbers of threatening enemies running large numbers of intelligently chosen buffs, focusing fire such that tanks and healers would be necessary, etc. What the hell is subnucleonic beam even supposed to be for in PvE? Stopping a high yield torpedo once every two minutes?

The recharge/CD debuff affects everything...including the rate at which weapons fire.

Enable a different set of rules for pvp. Nerfs should apply to pvp only. The 99% shouldn't suffer as collateral damage for the sake of 1%. Roll back to old rep for pve.

So you are saying we should get back tricobalts at it previous state? So you can run 30 seconds STF`s? Or maybe devs shouldn`t take a closer look at the valdore console? Course its common sense that escort can have twice as much healing capabilities than healer/semi healer oriented ship, right?

They are looking at valdore console. We had a discussion in PvP subforums and we had the confirmation. It will proc only if any of your shield facings is below 90%. Will still heal as it does now anyway.
