I've been playing with ground active roster on my KDF science characters and noticed that a decent ability from a Counselor doff is not available to KDF players, since there's no Counselor equivalent.
AFAIK counselors didn't have an active roster ability at first, and it was added sometime later. Sadly, KDF didn't get their version.
So, any chance for a counselor doff equivalent to be added for KDF players?
Same could be done with Counselors. Name them "Battlemasters", or something. I'm not requesting Counselors to be added, but their Active Roster Power to be made available KDF and Rom-KDF players.
A Klingon Counselor?! I shudder to think what that'd be like!
"workplace Stress?! Grow a spine you snivelling coward" *Stabs with very large knife and throws the 'patient' out of the nearest airlock*
I am with this interpretation. Granted I am not a firm believe in the whole "Die in battle" thing. I think the KDF would have some sort of medical staff for injuries that may occur over the course of glorious battle.
But Counselors? Yeah, I am thinking the KDF version of a counselor is to ask the "warrior" in question, that if he can't handle battle, perhaps he needs to be "Dismissed from Active Duty".
The KDF does have Counselor doffs. I have seen one, and only one. Her name is Vokna, and she is a Very Rare Klingon Counselor; I have never seen one with a different name, though I have seen two Vokna's listed on the Exchange at one point (never more than 2, though). This leads me to believe that this is the only purple version that exists in STO...
I just checked the Exchange and there is ONE on the Exchange, total, of any quality, and that one is a Common. 335,000 EC's for a Common doff. They do exist... but we really need access to ones via Medical and Science CXP like Federation and Fed-Roms captains. There are none that I know of that drop from missions, just sheer, incredible, mind shattering luck.
Yeah, this bugged me as well since I have what was initially meant to be a Sci healer. :P
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Yeah I never noticed any either. Must be a reason why they don't have counselors. What are the odds that every Klingon is perfectly emotionally stable?
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Aha! Sorry I took so long to find her, but without further ado (or much ado about nothing?) here's the link to Vokna on the wiki... so yes, Klingons do have Counselors. The only method of obtaining one is as a randomly generated duty officer (i.e. pure chance), but they do exist. Oh, and sersiously, that Common Klingon Counselor is still there on the Exchange if you want it.
Anyway, rather than adding a different specialty, they just need to actually put them in the Medical and Science CXP rewards list like they did for Federation captains. On the other hand, adding an Interrogator Security doff specialty could be cool, maybe give an equal chance to decrease your opponent's Willpower on use of a control effect, like Counselors increase your allies' Willpower? It would, of course, be added to KDF Military and Espionnage CXP reward options as well as random drops, but only be available to Fed captains as a random drop, a reasonable balance to the current state of Counselor doffs wouldn't you say? :P

Well, I'm guessing that Klingons simply don't care. If you prove to be a flake, you probably get executed for incompetence. Counselors are probably the kind of mamby-pamby thing Klingons don't care for.
I would think a KDF equivelant of a Counselor would have the position of Morale Officer.
The person in charge of leading war chants, preparing others for battle, and being a master of ceremonies for various klingon rites, and knowing just what to say and when to say it. In addition, a KDF 'counselor' would know exactly what medicines to use to 'boil the blood' and dietary suggestions for optimal mental and physical health. He would be the one to check the pantry and ensure that the gagh was not 'half-dead', and that the bloodwine casks were 'acceptable' for the crew. Various drinking games and other sports could be led by the Morale Officer.
As DS9 have shown, even klingon crews become demoralized under various circumstances. A Morale Officer (or several) on a klingon ship would have the primary job of making sure that didn't happen, and ensuring the crews are ready for battle and to die for the Empire.
Funny thing is, the KDF's "scheduled interrogations" and Brig Officer carry the KDF equivalent of the therapy sessions that the Fed Counselor's provide...
And people are forgetting that the KDF is not 100% Klingon anymore. My Orion would love to "counsel" her fellow Klingons, Gorn, and Lethians...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

There is a KDF Counselor, she is a Klingon and her name a Tuzane. She is a common duty officer, but is very rare to find on the exchange, figure on paying high credits for her if you do find her.
It took me awhile to get 2 out of my 3 KDF faction to have the 3 you need for mission on them.
