So, what's your favourite piece of music to play, to get an epic feeling? IMO, really anything from Two steps from Hell. But this is a really awesome piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0zdqeivGaU
So, what's your favourite piece of epic music?
...Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you / Oh, I can hear it callin 'me / I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?...
- Anne Bredon
I know Star wars episode one was a bad movie but the song that plays during the darth maul fight, which I think is called "Duel of Fates", and is IMO possibly the most epic song for like a rival fight. Unless of course you'd accept music from games.

off topic, but why did ep 1 never hit it with people?
suicide theme - mass effect 2. turn up the music in the middle of town and listen to it there and feel the goosebumps come up several times throughout the music track :P.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

i never played that game before but i kinda reminds me of some of the human tracks from starcraft
Two Steps from Hell are at the top of their game, and usually the soundtrack of choice when I make a video. I used the one you mentioned for a video a few months back.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

i dont really pay any interest to doctor who as i believe it was something that should of remained buried in the past. im currently listening to the track, it has that sort of cheeriness that builds but was holding back until around 2:47. upto 4:37 it changes track to something that sounds like it belongs in assassin's creed until 5:55 where i hear the similarities to the suicide theme up to 8:25 and after this is its just noise.

If all the chips are down and I'm facing down implacable enemies with the fate of the galaxy on the line, this REALLY sets the mood: http://youtu.be/QZLHX7ejolM
I suppose I am dating myself a bit on this but I have to admit, during those moments of epic battles, I have a tendency to play this rather oldschool piece of glory.

This may not be the mix I was looking for, there was one from series 7 (I think) that was much more similar.

Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
was thinking something from nightwish yesterday, probably something with Marco as more charge on the song, hes got a powerful voice that carries well on some tracks hes had a chance on.
to be honest nemo is not the greatest song i have listened from nightwish. something like this just for ear TRIBBLE on a higher volume .
i wonder what the new lead singer will be like with all that tosh about anette vs tarja and now vs floor (odd given name).

"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I love listening to this while PVP or sft's Gets me all pumped up HELLSYEAH!!!!HOORAH!!!!! (veins popping out of redface look) http://youtu.be/fRmjXK45xUs

Darn I love this song! I remember getting goosebumps when a version of it played in Mass Effect 2 as the Normandy SR-2 was launched.
This always gets me into a mood to save the universe (or slay feds) - be it the fact that movie was a cornerstone of my childhood or simply it just feels epic I'm not sure - but if its on my mp3 player, battle mode has been engaged...
Other than that, I'm fond of 'Otherworld' from FF 10 and 'through the fire and the flames'
Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters one of my favourite games, so I'm very fond of the original soundtrack and Precursor remixes. Some of them fit well with STO, which isn't too much of a surprise since both games have similar game elements. The open source version of the game and all associated assets are in the public domain.

I like to have the readers thinking of this song wen the action heats up in my story. =^.^=

If I imagined my Gorn captain beaming down to crash a party, i'd play this.

Then again, it would be more of an "aw yeah" moment than an "epic" one.

"No matter where you go...there you are."
Personally I liked it but it had more plotholes than a season of star trek.
Very historical inaccurate movie, good soundtrack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzVBqBosf5w Yeah, it was good. Star Wars often had good battle music

Audiomachine also produce some really epic music, like Guardians at the Gate, and Judge and Jury (from the Prometheus trailer):

It's too long to explain, so instead of giving this thread one of my walls of text, this explains everything anybody needs to know about what went wrong with Episode 1. (Some NSFW language)

As far as my 'epic' music goes, it really depends on what facet the 'epicness' is representing, since there are many things in STO that give me an 'epic' feeling. So I have various songs I play when those inevitably crop up.
When I feel like taking on the entire universe. Bad movie, but great soundtrack. Like the Star Wars prequels. The finale is a great 'epic' piece.
When I'm playing my romulan.
When I'm feeling angry and destructive and taking out that energy on various enemies in STO.
When I'm feeling introspective.
When I'm destroying things relentlessly in my favorite escort in STO.
When I'm typically alone in game and doing my own thing and working out some aggression and other various emotions in ground combat.
When I zone in on a Federation Fleet Alert. Mainly because it synchs up really well with the mission briefing timer.
When I'm heavily intoxicated and decide it's a good idea to burn the Voth Battlezone to the ground.
There are a few other songs I play, but I'm going to keep those to myself. I may share them far along down the line if I'm up to it.
Darn I love this song! I remember getting goosebumps when a version of it played in Mass Effect 2 as the Normandy SR-2 was launched.

...and of course, Bohemian Rhapsody...
