The guys have been rather shafted :(

Are these costume pieces that we can mix & match, or just one piece that only works on its own?

Rumour has it that there is a separate "Risa" tab for the tailor, which will ensure we cannot mix and match with uniform and off duty pieces. This separate Risa tab, plus testimonies from Tribblers is one of the credible basis for the speculation that Risa swimwear is limited only to that one zone. Sad really given the amount of grind we will have to do.

I have a feeling the male ones are one piece only, basing this solely on the pattern of the colours. Most of the female ones are likely one piece only as well (if there is a mix and match, it will only be for the two pieces, changing the bras).

Aside from the board shorts, the male wetsuits are horrible (especially the middle one), so at least those that want decent male swimwear doesn't need to grind as much.

But its sad that choices are so limited. We already have a male NPC with a banana hammock at Nimbus, and the devs have spawned Catian NPCs wearing speedos during anniversary events. So why not offer those? Or maybe they will via C-store? One can dream right? ;)

I dream of the day when cryptic lets us mix and match without restriction!

I hope swimwear is not only usable during the summer event cauz.... that would suck even more. Oh an on a side note, now at level 50 the war is over can the klinks get a transwarp only to risa? Would be fair.

As far as I can tell , swimwear will be limited to Risa true , but there has been no word on it being an event limited item , remember , floaters are a Risa only item , and you can use those all year round so I assume you'll be able to head back there at any point and wear your swimwear.

And as for transwarp , there already is one :p

If that is the ship we can earn during this year's event, I hope you can access the park area inside.

Was thinking a permanent transwarp to risa in the personal tab for everyone, hey we all need to get shore-leave and get there quick!

Hmm. Oddly enough, I can enter Sirius Sector Block due to the Jenolan Armistice (I do not have Marauding to 3 or 4), but when I try to go to Risa, it tells me I can only land when the summer event is running -or- if I have Marauding 4. So it seems the Jenolan permissions are not being treated quite the same as Marauding.

Regardless though, the 'diplomatic immunity' effect is hardly the only reward for levelling Marauding/Diplomacy.
    Live long, and prosper.

Once the summer event begins, there will be a handy free transwarp from the mission journal. Fed fleet base transwarp conduits will also send you to sector space just outside Risa.

Real Klingons do shore leave on Rura Penthe. Worf only went to Risa because of that silly Trill. :P

Yeah, it is a double whammy for KDFers if the swimwear is restricted only to the Risa zone. They not only need to grind the outfits, this means the KDFers, including Rommies aligned to the KDF, will also need to grind up Marauding until Tier 3, so its another grind for those that do not wish to Doff.

Not a surprise since KDF has always been disenfranchised in this game, but as an act of good faith, its another reason why restricting the swimwear in one zone is a bad idea that must not be implemented. Ultimately, the only justification for restricting the swimwear in one zone is to satisfy puritan players, who only number to a select vocal few...

There's an unconfirmed rumour that the swimwear may be able to be used on board the new ship this year , seeing as it has what appears to be a mini resort area built into it , take with a pinch of salt though

If true that might be a nice compromise for the restriction on the suits, you can only wear it at the resort, but at least you can take your own resort with you. :D

Last year's Summer Event was awesome and I really look forward to this year's Event. I hadn't seen any of these spoiler pictures, including those of the swimsuits before, so... Yay Swimsuits! A hoverboard race could be cool. I hope there's a PvP hoverboard event. The solo stuff is fine, but my favorite part of the Winter Event is the (too short) PvP ice race.

I hate costume restrictions of all sorts. I dislike the different slots between on/off duty, armor (Omega, MACO, etc.), and so on. I wish all pieces could be mix'n'matched.

I will be disappointed to find out swimwear is restricted to only Risa. If we can at least wear it on our ship's interior (or even just the Risan Cruiseliner as suspected above), that might be a little better.

I suppose I can see some people's arguments that swimwear on ESD is immersion breaking, but it's my game too. Live with it. (To be clear, save for rare special occasions, I can't see myself every wanting to wear swimwear on ESD, but I'd like to have the option.)

I'd purpose that rather than restrict swimwear to just Risa, have certain "Uniform Only" areas like ESD, Starfleet Academy, Qo'noS, etc. That would leave open fun things like a hilarious STF mission run with friends wearing nothing but Speedos, etc.

Frankly, I see plenty of Mirror Universe-skimp-wear or Orion bikinis already... Having a swimsuit in Quinn's office wouldn't faze me one bit. >shrug<

Anyway, I agree with a previous poster, that Risian Cruiseliner reminds me of Fifth Element.

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

From what the tailor on Risa currently says , the swimsuits are indeed locked to Risa , but again we'll have to wait for the Dev blog about the ship to see if you can use them there.
I know it's not to everyone's taste , but personally I like the bathing suits being only available to wear at an actual beach , adds more incentive to go to Risa in the first place.

What people don't understand is that I can guarantee that everyone asking for swimsuits to be used everywhere isn't going to use them all the time. They want to be able too. It's different.

AS a KDF you will get special clearance to go to Risa for this event :)

    Have fun!

Technically with the war being over should we need a special clearance? :P

Centersolace is absolutely right and this is why...

Right now, for a VERY SMALL amount of zen, you can buy a Mirror U and TOS uniforms. You can mix and match, essentially using the sports bra and miniskirt, and there you have it...."swimwear" on the Fedside...the ability to be a skimpy woman in ESD to troll all the, abeit few, puritanical players out there.

But does EVERYBODY do it? Do MAJORITY do it? Or is it even noticable? I don't think so.

Its the same deal in KDF. Anybody can roll a skimpy Orion for free in this game. You don't need to buy anything from the C-store or win in a lock box. Just do the pre-requisite Fed mission, and then you can have all the skimpy Orions that you can create. But how come the population of the KDF isn't that big, and how come there are still players that roll traditional Klingons, Nausicaans, and so on?

At the end of the day, the restrictions for the Risa swimwear is a bad decision. It doesn't make sense in terms of business or normal MMO industry practice. And at the end of the day, the only people pushing it are the handful of puritanical players who, for whatever reason, feel that they have this right to tell players how to play the game!

I personally won't be wearing the swimwear on my Feds and Rommie 100% of the time. Just the past few days, I spend hours on the tailor adding kit parts to enhance my Federation and Romulan captains. So even I would want to wear my uniforms, but I also want, on occassion and just for fun, run STFs or Battlezones on my Risian Board Shorts with my guildies. You know...solely FOR FUN!

    What's the harm in that?

With regards to swimwear outside of Risa, I think what people are forgetting is this is quite possibly a restriction CBS put in to allowing swimwear into the game at all.

Granted the info is about 2 years old, but that is my understanding. CBS has said (via the Devs) that swimwear would HAVE to be restricted to Risa. So even if Cryptic wanted to have it available where ever, That is not their call to make.

That being said, the male swimwear is ugly and I probably wouldn't even wear it ON Risa, let alone anywhere else.

The part that irritates me is that I'll be grinding for an outfit that can only be worn at the place of the grind. Risa is a ghost town otherwise. The only real incentive is to get in the spirit of the event by grinding for an outfit to wear while grinding for a hoverboard... which also only works on Risa, yes?
