My main wears a 'swimsuit' as the main outfit - but it's a robe for the top and the long pants things for the legs. Why? So my Caitian can run around barefoot.

Will that be banned come this event?
Once you see the swimsuits you should be able to see why they should be locked to Risa
One button goes to the old "classic beach." The other took me to the special resort, which is last year's special resort.
It's the same map but when facing the Resort from the Docks, head to the right, and go around the big lighthouse there. There is a whole new building on that side of the island with a board shop and a couple vendors.
Why are people acting as if they're made out of iridescent nipple pasties? I haven't seen a single swimsuit that is as bad as people are acting.
I did not mean it like that. I mean they are swimsuits. 100% nothing else they can be swimsuits. The only place where they would be "right" at is Risa. And before you bring up tux wearers in STFs, if it was up to me everyone would be put into an uniform on combat maps.
But I have a saying. Anything is logical if you are smart enough so give me a reason why you would wear a swimsuit anywhere else?

For amusement factor? :P
In all seriousness I don't like restriction options. Sure it's silly to fight the Borg in a speedo, but because it's a silly idea doesn't mean you should take it away from someone.
If the "it's just a game" argument doesn't convince you then there are lots of reasons it could be explained. There are a great many human cultures that exist today that wear very little clothing, even where it's culturally accepted to go topless, or even fully naked.
The "lore" and backstory behind my Fed ship and crew is that starfleet is using it as a refugee and diplomatic transport, and because of that most of my crew are civilians, that have permanent residence on board the ship. According to my personal lore for that character, her ship is treated as more of a flying city rather than a combat vessel, and try's to avoid war zones when it can. So for that character, the atmosphere on board that ship is more relaxed, and the civilians don't have to abide by Starfleet dress codes.
My other character is an Orion. So swimwear wouldn't be out of character at all.

I've seen them and you know what, they're tame. There is nothing about them that warrants the reaction from you, cryptic or others.
If they were truly topless, with flashing 10 foot tall neon signs spelling out "NUDITY!!!!" then I could understand your reaction, but they won't. If they made me go blind, I could understand your reaction, but they won't.
Besides, why restrict outfits? I for one like making utterly silly outfits from time to time, just as much as I like making serious ones.

If it were neon glow in the dark pasties, yeah that would be reason to get into a huff. But a speedo is just a speedo.

Did you read everything I said? I don't care about the skin. Terran Empire, Orion, Ferengi, and I'm pretty sure I forgot something else shows off more skin. And besides Terran (Just cause I hate the MU on whole) I would leave them all in ingame. My reaction is swimsuits are not in any way, shape, or form "mission gear" and I would like not like to see some team of pakleds all with the name "We R Sexy" running around the voth battlezone in short shorts.
Also you still have your utterly silly outfits....on Risa

What's wrong with silly outfits in other areas? What's wrong with silly outfits in stfs? What's wrong with sniping voth dressed like Tom Daley? (if you don't know, Google him)
It's not myfault ifyoufeel trolledbymyDisco ball...Sorry'boutit.

After seeing that guy..... I for one have lost my will to fight against outfits in this game
"I am a travelor of both time and space to be where I have been"

Oh lordy, if the mirror gear, orion gear, winter cropped gear or the ferengi gear are what you call "mission gear" then I think you may just have a bad case of "double standard" my friend.
As I've posted in several other threads just like this one, more people will resent the arbitrary restriction of outfits than seeing people run around in silly outfits.
How dare we infringe on your single player!
EDIT
Yes, I did read your post. Just because players CAN use something, doesn't mean that they WILL use it. It'll be just like when a new shiny ship comes out. You'll see hundreds of them for a few weeks, then it will die down.

I agree. It's not like it's some OP thing that will cause the game to crash and people to go blind from its OPness.
If it was up to me a lot of outfits would be moved to the off-duty spot and uniforms would be your only choice on any military map. I have Orion, mirror, and cropped outfits but you know what I wear most of the time? Uniforms like officers of the factions that I am a part of and you are too.

I wear uniforms most of the time too. I still want the option to run around esd in a speedo if the mood strikes.

Okay, let's go another way.
This was the ONLY way CBS would allow Swimsuits for players.
And I agree with the limitation. Orions in metal thongs, fine. Makes sense from a species perspective.
Humans in Skimpy Two-pieces stopping a Colony Invasion? No. That's just stupid.
That being said, if these are map locked then the price had damn well better reflect the limitation.

My god I could kiss you for that.
Like I said before. What is wrong with wearing an uniform of your faction when you are in military area? Can't hope for people to act like Starfleet officers but you could at least to dress like one.
Also sidenote: Pretty sure the same people for swimsuits everywhere is for disco balls everywhere too. Not saying I'm right but it feels like it

Two's more than enough. What is this, a fashion parade? You can only use the damn things on Risa anyway.
But if I will have to, my Gorn is getting some swimming trunks. >:3

And you, Rose Tyler! Fat lot of good you were! You gave up on me!
Oh, that's rude! Is that the sort of man I am now? Am I rude? Rude and not ginger.
There should be two buttons. One will take you to the new Risa.

Edit: OK I found the new part.

Star trek 10, Nemesis.
now that's most likely better than those boards.

I know what you mean. My vulcan is actually wearing uniform pieces to make her "off-duty" costume.
(though a part of that is the distinct lack of skirts in the off-duty options)
