Gets pretty laggy when there's a large furball going too. (Lots of players shooting in the same area)

same here.I just got an Alienware 18 laptop and still having troubles with the lagging, as well as my weapons fire not showing up, and the audio goes with the lag. i love the idea just needs sum tweaking.
Hey guys,
I really like the concept of the new Undine/Voth Dyson space zone, but I can barely see what's happing. I'm confused at what I'm shooting at since the graphics lag is so heavy. The yellow blobs are neat the first time, but cause my graphics card to slow and I don't feel I'm able to help my team out. My fleet expressed the same issues and we aren't too happy with the zone in its current condition. Please free up some of the extra baggage that come with undine abilities or just tone down its graphics demand to look pretty.
BTW I saw an Andorin bridge officer floating in the middle of the battle toward the end of it... kind of weird
This happens in any part of the game with large numbers of ships. Specifically in the Fleet Starbase Defense 24 man in my experience. I figure it's just a problem with too many things to draw for the engine to keep up.
Keep dropping you graphics settings until it runs well.... if it never does go buy a new pc. (half kidding)
Not to be harsh... its not your fault. Cryptic has never had the most efficient 3D engine. They recently made some more tweaks and hooked in some more DX11 calls. Make sure your on DX9 if your playing on an older card or laptop. Many of the newer integrated and lower end cards you find in pre built PCs or laptops are capable of DX 11... however they barely have the hardware to pull off basic DX 11 demos let alone games.
Set to DX 9 and then just start turning things down until its somewhat smooth playing. Drop things like shadows / reflections / lens flares / cinematic focus... the stuff that would use the more intense shader dependent effects. Outside of that check full scene anti aliasing, mostly even lower end cards can handle 2x settings. However on some cards like the intel based integrated the card is simply going to render each scene twice and average out corners. ATI and Nvida have smart algorithms for FSAA and will not simply render a scene twice, so even on lower end cards they can mostly pull that off.
I know on my machine with a fairly current ati card I can play most modern games and mostly max them out. In MMOs I tend to back them off a step in general anyway... in STO though I back my settings off to half because there engine has a bad habit of not rendering things even when your hardware should in no way be the issue.
They really need test this stuff before put it out...
I can't help but laugh at this...this was up on tribble for at least a month before it was released. So it was tested. It just wasnt tested by enough people, cause people are too anal about their interwebs. "oh another 6gb download, TRIBBLE that!" Yeah well thats why it doesnt get tested, people dont go test it, thats why bugs slip thru.
Not just speaking to you Nova, but everyone who talks about bugs slipping thru, download tribble and go test when something new comes. Not just to see the new stuff, but to report any bugs you find as well.
Zurganus I'll tell you this I've tested and have been on tribble many times. I've found and reported bugs. Maybe 30 bugs out there I've found, only 1 of them where fixed so yeah its futile to post now because this post going just get troll and not taken serious by players which truthful sad when is a issue with the zone being poorly design and the lag of zone makes it unplayable. Your hindsight is 20/20 and yes you are make obvious observation of this gaming community. "I can't help but laugh at this..." your not 1st or last Master of Obvious and that your zen like wisdom will serve us all greatly in your future post. For that we all Thank You
