I was looking forward to seeing the new season, and then I played one of the Undine skirmishes. My enthusiasm is now utterly gone.
The Undine have become YET ANOTHER race spamming thousands of holds, knocks, pulls, disables and so forth, until it's impossible to even move.
The Undine used to require a different kind of tactic. You had to kind of keep your distance, because they were defined by their devastating plasma torpedoes. Now, it's just the same as fighting the Tholians, or the Borg, or the Breen, or the Terran Empire, or the Federation, or the Romulans... Grab, push, hold, disable, gravity well, tractor, etc...
News flash here, players don't generally find it an enjoyable experience being continuously controlled. It's frustrating, not fun.
It made sense with the Tholians, and probably the Borg, but none of the other races we've seen on the shows used tactics like this. In the entire history of Star Trek, we saw tractors used in combat TWICE, and in neither case were they used to do damage, nor did the ship using them fire on the ship they grabbed.
SO, it's not appropriate for the IP, and it's not any fun for the game, so I have to say I'm disappointed and unimpressed. Every time I start to gain some enthusiasm for the game, you guys manage to dash my hopes.
Once, I was simply called Mojo. Now, I'm forced into a new name, but don't be fooled, I'm the original STO Mojo!
This game needs detailed crafting, exploration and interaction systems.
Yes, its absolutely horrible they are trying to throw challenging foes at us, how dare they?!
Seriously though, its not like there are many options to make different NPC enemies varied and more interesting.
They don't exactly have human level Intelligence and behavior.
I've found the Dyson set plus 2 Mk XII purple inertial dampeners gives you great protection. I use it on my FAC, and the only thing that holds me if i get too close to the jelly rifts
I have to agree they have entirely too many engine system disables, they never used that, it's like Cryptic is trying to make up for the fact that this game is basically almost all escorts and carriers at this time.
They are using engine debuffs to stop escorts and partgen effects to destroy minis on carriers.
If they didn't want to work on proper balance all they had to do is say so.

I don't even use those. Evasive and the module from the tier 3 escort the gladiator does wonders about getting you out of the frying pan.

Some of you are missing the point. I know how to counter these things (although, when they just reapply the hold immediately while your abilities are on cooldown or disabled, it's kind of pointless). I can even just sit there and tank all their fire (and usually do).
The point is, it's just more of the same thing.
This is more of a game mechanic problme, not a species problem. There really aren't too many ways to make it more challenging without a lot of grabs like you're takling about or doing like the MU event where they made the enemies merely have stronger weapons and swarming us.
Not much they can do there.

I have to agree with the OP. One of the biggest disappointments I have with the game is that it is usually more beneficial to stand around stationary in order to keep the enemy in your best firing arcs, than to fly around at speed. I mean in how many movies/TV episodes did you see Star Ships just sitting in front of a Borg cube firing? Answer is none, they were all manuvering like crazy.
