Challenge STFs (Fleet Vs Fleet)

The idea here is a kind of open ended team pvp, where each team cues independently, and the system randomly sets them up against another fleet of the same or higher xp that has cued for the same type of stf.

The objectives for each team should be offensive vs defensive with the marks rewarded reflective of the team's percentage of objective achieved. This really should yield fleet marks only, either with the reward distributed equally among each team's members or a single reward given to the team leader. A more cutthroat version would yield a better reward but only to the winning team.

Ideally, a Challenge STF should be limited to fleets that are at the same or higher fleet xp—perhaps by giving the team leader a slider to select how much higher an opposing force’s fleet xp they want to contend against. The higher the slider, the more potential opponent teams they would qualify to take on, and the higher the potential rewards.

    Stf is a wrongly termed title for this.

    More of an attack vs. Defend pvp arena...you aren't getting g your target audience with "stf."

    A ranking system doesn't exist, so they probably won't be able to add the aspect of your idea to the game.

    the amount of dps one can push out against NPCs is astronomically different then against players....the attacking team should win every time.

    I'm not a fan of the idea

    I think pvp should have little to no rewards. Not until the dev team takes a really hard look at pvp on a whole.

    I like the idea of teaming with fleetmembers and allied fleets in a premade game against opposing fleets. Maybe some kind of area control mission would be fun.
    I think if a ranking system were introduced into pvp it would make matching players of competatively challenging skill together, so a first time pvper doesn't end up in a match against a hardcore pvper. Maybe teams could be paired on an average team ranking.
    Obviously this wouldn't happen instantly as it would require people to actually play the system to get the ranking to be matched in the first place.
    I'm not a huge pvper, I mean I'm in the "above average player" catagory as I choose to build my ships a certain way (as close to canon as I can). I would definately play pvp regularly were I garanteed a good sporting matchup, rather than a slaughterfest for one party or the other.
    The minimum kill count could use a look at though in this instance as two very equally matched players can go round and round for hours with nobody scoring a kill.
    My fellow FA and I (he in his fed dred and me in my voth bastion) ended up in a simillar situation. It was fun but quickly got boring once we realised just how equally matched we were.

    This would be PVP, not an STF. I would like a fleet versus fleet assault style mode though. Board and raid a station or capital ship. Whoever destroys the other base first wins.

    Um yeah that would be pretty cool too why not, just so long as any damage wasn't permanent (unless you have ideas on how that would work?).
    But I like the idea +1from me on that.
    Do you think there should be a normal and elite or some other way of keeping things balanced for people?
    That would be my addendum to that idea if I may.

    You know the vast majority of players don't PvP right? This suggestion will quickly turn into a pugstomp paradise for premades. Your new "PvP STF" will die faster than shuttle PvP.

    I think there are maybe 3 people in my fleet (including myself) that even "sort of" PvP. We're a maxed out fleet but we'd be decimated by Turkish RP, IC, Pandas, HOBO and plenty of others which actually field teams.

    Really, what needs to happen first is a PvP leaderboard or rank system for individual players - which is a frequent request over on the PvP forums.

    Anyway, you can do what you are suggesting by taking your fleetmates into the queues or Ker'rat. Pick up the "daily" mission for some fleet marks and dilithium to make your experience more complete.

    Guys... This guy calls everything STF... We are several that already several times tried to explain the difference, but he just refuses to learn.

    I bet, in his world even chatting is called STF.

    I can see merit in the idea in principle, but getting the STO masses to do anything PvP related is a mission in itself. Also, as mentioned, Ker'rat sort of does this already.

    What would be cool is to have the option for fleets to compete with each other in PvE content. Like we have a 10 man map with 2 teams of 5 players - could be pre-made fleet teams or pugs if you're feeling brave - both teams have a bunch of objectives to complete and bonus points for options and teamwork.

    It is PvP in a way since you indirectly compete with other players, but the focus is still PvE.
