Ok so I tried to mess around with tailor things in the live folder of sto.. I know shame on me. I learned my lesson. But now im getting crashes on the toon I was on at the time while trying to use bind keys. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Go to the STO Launcher and click on options then check the Force Verify box. If that doesn't work, then there is always deleting your Live Folder after moving your Screenshots folder and reinstall STO.

Thanks for the reply, im doing a reinstall right now.
i've come across 3 assault ships in karaat that utterly destroy me very fast. looks like they are using scatter volly and dual cannons or single cannons no torpedos. had to add 2 science teams and power to shields just to survive the first volly. only a captian but first came across these guys at llevle 30.
was hoping someone could tell me how they were doing it. i dont want to have to retrain my bridge officers and buy new weapons to experiment how to instant destroy people.i tried scatter volly but switched to rapid fire, really tired of maxing out skills then retaining something else.
hope someone can clue me in. i love pvp but kinda not fair or fun coming across uber ships that kill in one volly

now its coming back to me why i used to avoid official forums like the plague....
Because people try to hijack other peoples posts with their own unrelated (and for the conversation unimportant) questions, thinking they are in their right to do so, being arrogant enough to even get annoyed, possibly angry when they are told to go to the proper place, where they would actually get the reply they are looking for?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
When hacking, it is imperative to copy the original files off to a safe place so you can restore them when (not IF, WHEN) you mess it up. Lesson learned...
as others said, fixing it could mean a re-install if you cannot get the other methods to work.
** You will also note that hacking some games is against their TOS and indeed, even most software. You were warned.
You have to forgive us older folks. When I was a kid whatever you did was hacking --- whether modifying the texture files or hexing the executable or decompiling the thing into assembly or using your own version of a dll etc, it was all under the same term. Often all you had to do for the old stuff was to modify a text file, or a text portion of a binary file, to get results. The hard part was figuring out what you could change without breaking stuff. The classic was to bypass the idiot copy protection by replacing the "go to page 10894, paragraph 35, word 24" with the enter key, problem solved. Things were much simpler back then, a 10 year old with a hex editor could do just about anything. Its a lot easier when the game files were a couple of MB instead of 10s of GB.
Granted... I am probably very young compared to some people... I am after all only turning 30 in a month.
However, first time I learned about Hacking, I was no more than 8 or 9... Even back then, the term was used for breaking into networks and software and stealing/breaking software.
What you are describing never has been and never will be hacking... The reason people use the term "hacking" about it, is because some novice idiot used the term for downloading via KaZaa (rest in peace you lousy piece of software), and now no one knows how to use the term properly anymore...
Sorry... The "age" excuse... Well, thats about as legit as when people thought the world was flat, and the sun moves around earth (granted, recent studies have shown that some 20% of the US population believes this to be the case).
It wasn't true then, and it isn't true now.

Sure... let's call file altering hacking...
