Hailing all Captains!

As some of you may have noticed, your game client is running a patch after you have exited STO.

Don't Panic!

This is just a Season 9 Pre-Patch. It may take a little longer for some players, but we hope that this pre-patch will help make launch day for Season 9 a little smoother for everyone.

Sorry to scare all of you!

Thanks for your patience and we cannot wait for you all to see everything coming in Season 9: A New Accord!

Off-topic but, are we getting a foundry spotlight today? It was mentioned last week.

    Damn, Smirk.

You guys have learned from the LoR launch fiasco!

Great job, and thank you! Season 9 looks to be EPIC.

Also, as Sovereign Ba'al's Grand Vizier, I kind of need your feedback on your pleasure palace. Are your concubines suitably masculine and oiled? Are the rooms sufficiently lush? Is the food appropriately luxurious?

Please be sure to submit your Pleasure Palace Feedback form ASAP. The Sovereign is a big fan of bureaucracy, sorry.

    Hail Ba'al!

Does patcher looks for Tribble files for updates ? Instead of downloading them, couldn't it copy them over from the Tribble folder ?

That's lovely, now can we get a word, any word at all, about the broken romulan doff mission?

I mean, we've flagged it up for you for over 24 hours now.

There's been no response from anyone at cryptic/PWE at all.

If you're not going to fix it, tell us.

But this studied silence is not particulary helpful.

I would like to know when we can finally airlock Tovan. Another season of bugs and grind really isn't anything new.

Tovan takes away from being able to create the crew I want for my captain. They need to add an option to send him out an airlock without a space suit, vaporization by Phaser set to kill, handed over to the Tal'Shiar for the most slow and painful death possible, or something else that would make the many people who want him gone happy.

He forced himself onto us, plain and simple. He's not part of my crew and he never will be. He's an immersion-breaking, roster-filling, weak-traited, preset character BS parasite.

Exactly! Maybe the Romulan word for cockroach should be Tovan Kev. :P

Perhaps this is their way of testing for bugs more by making live server test server? :P

It means it has downloaded the first available pre-patch files already. It just looks for new versions and closes when it can't find ones.

    By the way:
    What? The Launcher is pre-patching?

Noooo, this game is about to end when they are doing pre-patching. I don't want to pre-patch.
There are sooooo much bugs in the game that the Launcher should fix first.

I will tell everyone to stop playing this game, and I will tell the neighbor's cat too.

I am a paying customer and I don't want the Launcher to patch after I have closed the game.

    Ok, thats all :D:P

Nope. None of the files for the season 9 stuff will be active until launch day. The reason for pre-patching is for us to get most of the season 9 files so when it launches we have a smaller patch and it doesn't take forever to download.

it never did downloaded anything to begin with..

It once happened to me that the download was done in the background

But it seems anyway that the pre files have been downloaded sometimes in the last week on your pc

The file size is about 700-800mb and about 2,5gb files are beeing patched.

Depending on your connection it could have taken only a short time to download it in the background.

    I think..

So, is *this* pre-patching going to go the same way it always has in the past? I close the game, the installer starts back up and downloads the pre-patch.

I play the next day, exit, and it does it again, downloading the same thing (apparently) I downloaded yesterday.

    And the next day.

    And the day after that.

And then come the day of the actual release? I get to download EVERYTHING because the installer can't find where it downloaded the blasted pre-patch. I can, I always look to see if it's in there, but the installer gets a case of myopia, or something.

Look, I get that pre-patching is supposed to save time and aggravation, but all it tends to do for me is waste bandwidth and cause me to miss an entire day of playing while I download the update the day it's released anyway. And the reason I miss out on an entire day is because the update downloads at a very slow speed due to "everyone else" doing the same. I don't have a huge download speed as it is, (or a download cap, thankfully) so even getting a 700-800mb patch can take me a couple of hours on a good day.

I started closing the launcher this time since it's never worked for me in the past. I'll let the thing download tonight and see what happens, but I'm not holding out much hope for it actually working come release day.

Here is what I experienced: I heve played on thursday, closed the game and the pre-patch started and downloaded the new files.
I have played on friday, closed the game and the pre-patch searched for new files. Couldnt find one and closed.
    Saturday: the same as friday.
Sunday: the same as friday and saturday.

So as long as the pre-patcher can't find new files, he aborts. Surely there will be more smaller or bigger patches right before Season 9
