Will just share the link to Matthew's excellent summary of the cost to build a T5 starbase with all its holdings:

Pay a lot less for a tier 1 base. As long as you can do provision missions your set. Get invites to other peoples fleets to buy stuff... just use your own fleets provisions. Which unless I'm mistaken you never need to pass tier 1 to do projects for. Fleet ships I guess are the exception... but really be much cheaper to again just ask for invites, lots of time people will give you free invites, when they don't what you pay will still be far less.

i can already see the upcoming threads about T5 starbases stolen...

nothing personal, but honestly this will only encourage people to steal fleets. Sure hope it doesn't, but once there is a market, people will find ways to provide it.

People can't steal fleets in STO. They can have them given to them by people silly enough to not set permissions properly. If we are talking people you have known, simple solution is to not leave one person in charge. As a general rule though if your "friends" in STO only role play Ferengi and refuse to ever break character, you may be in the wrong fleet. lol

"steal" was the wrong word...fact is, it happened, whatever the reason was that made it possible. It may happen again and this sort of post encourages the sort of behaviour that makes other people cry.

OP - why not save a fortune and just have you and your mates join an existing T5 fleet, rather than buying one...

I assume so that they could be in control of the fleet, rather than have to operate within the whims of someone else?

Excellent reading for anyone even considering selling off a fleet.

I can't even imagine trading our T2+ fleet for anything... way too much investment of time, resources, and actual cash money.

It's a bad idea to sell, IMO. And not just because I don't think anyone can come up with enough in-game stuff worth trading a T5 fleet for.

A fleet holding doesn't just belong to one guy, most likely. Much more likely that a group of people contributed toward building it.

Ethically, those people (if they still belong to the fleet) ought to agree to a sale and share in the profits. Logistically, that's a nightmare. Realistically, somebody's going to end up getting ripped off.

If the group has enough resources to buy a T5 fleet, then they might as well just start their own and bribe a bunch of players to join so the membership reaches a critical mass.

Again, all just my own opinion. If our fleet was T5 I wouldn't sell at any price.

I am looking to purchase a T4/T5 fleet with all holdings complete. I am not concerned with special projects. If anyone is willing to sell one please PM me. This is for IN GAME items ONLY. A trade for the T4/T5 Fleet for EC, ships ETC.

    Hey Steve,

I guess things didn't work out my friend there huh?

I wish you all the luck in this endeavor.

I don't think I have anything that would be able to help you but if I come across something that might help you I will let you know.

How many billions of EC do you have? I'm not saying that as an exaggeration - a maxed-out fleet is probably worth many billions of Energy Credits.

I mean my fleet is just finishing up a 1,700,000 Dilithium project. That's the equivalent of 13,000Zen which is the equivalent of 114 Master Keys which is the equivalent of about 284,281,000 Energy Credits. And that's just for ONE project's Dilithium contribution.

So yeah, do you have tens of billions of Energy Credits?

    ^^ This.

Also, there's simply no way to do the transaction safely. What's keeping the seller from just keeping your untold billions, and not handing over the base?! ("All your base are belong to us!" doesn't quite cut it in STO). And vice versa, if he gave you his base first.

you could do half up front and half on delivery. Still not 100% safe, but best option atm.

Even if he did, why would anyone want to trade a fully-functional T5 base for tens of billions of EC? What would you do with them?

Ok OP, you can join fleets and with your spare change gain access to fleet stores and then simply go about your business as you wish.
Our members (as with I imagine Many other fleets) offer store access at 50k fc earned. Simples. You join, you give, you do as you wish game-wise. What I would suggest for ease however is joining a casual fleet rather than rp or hardcore. We simply don't mind what you do so long as you're nice. Also joining a fleet with higher end gear unlocked will make life easier than having to use service channels for gear.
Honestly you could save SO much money this way dude.
I'm not selling my fleet but we have rp'ers, pvp'ers, chatters, silent players, cross fleet players and closed channel chatters.
I'm sure there are hundreds of fleets out there like mine that really don't demand anything other than a standard donation from players to do as they wish. This may seem foolish to many fleet admirals out there but we are just plowing through tier IV upgrades, finished mine and embassy ;) sometimes the hippies can win.

I am not looking for fleet items. I have all that I could want and I am not looking at making the money back by selling access to others. In fact I encourage people to get their access to fleet items for free from certain chat channels.

There comes a point when you have so much money and so many high end items that it becomes pointless to keep them all.

    can i haz a bulwark?

Wasn't there a thread a few weeks ago from a guy collects T3 fleets? He said he had like 9 fleets. Or maybe that was someone I spoke to in one of the trading channels.

Was he looking to sell them on? Can't imagine why you would want to have nine fleets otherwise.

Some people just have more ec than they can spend. When you already own multiple copies of everything that can be bought what else are you going to do with your money

Morbid interest compels me to inquire just how many Bugships you're prepared to offer for such a thing. Is such a thing worth 50 Bugships to you? 60? 70? Just HOW many Bugships are we talking here?

I have received three offers. One t5 and two t4. None of them have been that high so far.

I would be very interested find out how much you do eventually pay for it.

I have a hard time imagining someone who has put that much effort into building their fleet selling it for any price.

While it is hard to believe, there are some groups out there that have multiple T5 fleets because of the shear numbers of people in them and the requirement to get sent to the main fleet. While I am not going to name anyone, the prices that I have been given have been about what I would expect for the fleets at a size (T4 vs T5).

I can imagine a fleet leader doing so. Don't want to imagine someone like that, but I can.

What i can't imagine is the rest of the fleet being particulary happy about it.
