Greetings All,
I might be alone in this but I want to be able to change the Energy Type of the Phaser Spinal Lance on my Galaxy X.
I feel that Phaser has an energy type is outclassed by many of the other Energy Weapon Types in-game and I personally do not use them.
My Fleet X uses Fleet Antiproton Beam Arrays with all Spire Tac consoles to boost them and my Phaser lance is nothing more than a Beam Overload 1 that uses the Phaser Energy type that I can only fire once every 3 minutes
If we can't get the option to change the Energy Type of the lance to any type that we choose would it be possible to make the lance a universal energy type that can be boosted by all in-game consoles or sets that boost energy weapon types?
Changing the Lances energy type to universal would be a nice extra feature for the Galaxy X and the same thing could be done for the Guramba as well.

If you use the [beam] spire tac consoles you can buff the lance and use whatever beam type(s) you want. Not exactly what your asking for, but it works.
True; however, I my case, I already had the Fleet Antiproton arrays and spire consoles in place and it would take me some time to get the universal beam consoles from the spire.
I guess in the end it's the only option that I have it I want the lance to seem somewhat useful with my Antiproton beams.
Interesting idea. I don't think you're alone in wanting something like that. Be cool if they did it. I don't fly the ship, but know a bunch of friends in game who do. And I think it'd really rock for those who fly it.

I agree with this change but only if it applies to ALL built-in weaponry except MAYBE the Dyson ships. For most of these ships the type is disruptor which is fine but the Vesta, Kumari, Galaxy X, and Chimera all get stuck with Phasers... With how horrid and useless Phasers are this is an unfortunate penalty to have to be slapped with. It is even worse for the poor Chimera seems how it is the worst Vet ship already.

Thats what i was gonna say. I just don't understand the most iconic weapon type in the game being the worse in the game. They really need to buff up Phasers and soon.
The 8472 rep set boosts phasers off the 2-piece, is in fact a 4-piece set (2 weapons, 2 consoles), and the new rep-store weapons likely include phasers. Depends what the special proc does, if its useful against everyone or Undine-only.
Now it's a OP lance, lol. Sure it will be nice but people will cry about this, specially with antiproton.
The only way, as now is the (beam) spire consoles and yes, you're stuck with phaser

To clarify the name, that's what I call phasers and disruptors.
So whenever I see a weapon that uses these damages, it's a case of extreme disinterest.
No matter whatever shiny new toy might be using them.
Therefore, I'd love it if we could change the energy damage type to suit whatever we like.
I'd even like to take it a step further, quad cannons (the Defiant style weapon) and the weapons on starbases should likewise be customizable.

I've kinda felt the same way i think it would be cool if the lances energy damage type could be changed and people are concernd that it might become unbalanced or oped id sugest universal consoles that change them and maybe do a little something else (not required just changing the damage type should be enoph). Or have the lance energy type based off of the damage type of the weapon's being used, with the exception of torpedos or having something like rainbow, then again a rainbow lance would be LMAO XD
If we could get chance to change phasers to any other weapon type i would drop phasers to a javelin disruptor and mount disruptor damage type Spiral Wave Disruptors with disruptor proc and phaser proc. Disruptor javelin+Spiral Wave Disruptor+disruptor spire tac consoles=profit?
I have faith that iconian comes with phaser type damage and build in antiproton passive so i could forget about glaX being stuck with phasers.

There are only one kind of damage that comes in standard config phasers looks kinda outdated to me...
every other weapon type comes with standard ,hybrid and special configurations...
Trust me, nobody wants AP quad heavy cannons more than I do.
KDF has bias for disruptor, Bortasqu Autocannon and the pet, Guramba's Javelin, elite disruptor.
Romulans have a bias for plasma, quad cannons, all the romulan rep stuff that is heavily plasma based.
no, I'm not for letting you choose your energy type in these cases. It's not canon, and it would be awkward to see a gal-x firing a tetryon beam nuff said.
leave the deeps as is, just make phasers have much high chances to apply their proc, serperate to critting.
after all it was never the feds in the shows running around nuking evrything with weapons fire. they only ever defeat people. so stunning enemies into submission subsytem offline-ing is far more in the fed idiom.

Choice is key here, how would players react if they were locked to a specific weapons damage simply because of their faction or ship?
You want to use phasers or disruptors, fine, that's your choice, but it's also my choice not to use them.
Neither of us has the right to impose our choices on others manditorily because we don't like what they do.
And to be honest, if we were forced to use canon weapons, I'd walk away from the game, because the customization options would be zero.
I like choice and variety.
Also, you'd be limiting the use of Reputation weapons and Space sets, if they weren't geared to canon damage, you would not be allowed to use them.
That would never be permitted, because then they'd have to start limiting Reputation and gear by faction!
And that's why I react negatively to Cryptic saying, okay, your spinal lance, your special unique weapons, they're all going to be canon damage and not respecting the idea that you may have chosen something else.
And they're the ones losing here, I wanted that Quad Cannon, but when I discovered it was phaser only, I refused to buy the ship unlock from C-Store, therefore, no sale=no money recieved.

it's like the Proton DHC. you have to choose if improving regular weaponry or go hybrid consoles and boost both, deal with it and stop asking for radical changes because you're not comfortable with an energy type.
They're not terrible but they've fallen way behind other weapon types over the last few seasons. I still use em but only because I have access to the Andorian Fleet Phasers, which are BLUE.
I completely agree with this, but it needs to apply to saucer separation, the MVAE module, all energy specific consoles like the javelin, Bortasqu disruptor auto cannon, thalaron scimitar, etc.
What needs to be done, however, is balance all energy types so they all do equivalent DPS in addition to their proc.
