Lost Ship From Romulan Duty Officer Pack

synnbadsynnbad Member Posts: 68 Arc User
Not even a week ago i spent some zen to buy the duty officer packs and in one i won the JHAS. it sat in my inventory for 2 days while i debated on what i wanted to do with it . well other day when the game had issues i was able to log in for little while and that's when i noticed my ship was gone. i looked for it then opened a ticket explaining what happened . few mins after the ticket was done the server went down for bout 8 hours . yall remember that right ? lol fun that was .
this is round about what they told me being i was edited changed it up a little .guess they do not want player base to see the truth .

. ok for real man ? are you serious?

trying real hard here to keep my cool but that's BULL

SO basic thing here is that this is a slap in the face . spend your money on the game buy their products and if you lose it then its tuff s**t. iv seen some old posts on this type of issue and replies were the same . i couldn't belive it and still can't .

why does cryptic/pwe do this? when just about any other game would replace it ?
they got to have some kind of history check .. do they not replace gear if your acct was TRIBBLE? and if they do how do they know you had that gear to start with ?

in any case take this as a warning be very careful this could happen to anyone and you wont get your item back .

i for one will not spend a dime on this game ever again i will just stick to exchanging dill for zen . at least then i wont loss real cash on items just my time ..

Nope cryptic wont replace anything if your account was TRIBBLE, their bottom line is they don't have the ability to check what was on your account. (bs I know its their way of not having to deal with all the "I accidentally deleted X ship or Y character)

But for all they know you might have accidentally right clicked and discarded it, or not have gotten one at all and trying to use this to scam one. (Ya they could check account history to check but like I said they deem its not possible to do so)

Only thing I can suggest is check your bank maybe you misplaced it...Or maybe someone was on your account and mailed it? Who knows. Its why If I spend money itll be for Zships only...

well that blows that they are like this and i can understand to a point that some people will try to scam them for a free ship or whatever. but history check should solve that problem . basicly your saying like others stated that they are just being lazy and and wont do the job or take the time to make their player base happy .

and as for checking mail and banks and all that other stuff i did all that . besides if i wanted to send the ship to one of my other alts i wouldn't mail it i would of used the acct bank to do that . i have lost stuff in mail before and do not trust the service lol .

think they need to change their policy on matters of such . could upset others like my self to point of not playing the game at all .

They cannot know if you ever had it, it is not part of your history, all they can tell is that you bought that pack, not what you got from it. and it can be abused so readily, that allowing it can cause much more problems than not. Blame the people who would abuse it, not the company who is just trying not to get scammed.

I remeber someone got my password, then I got 15 Messages from PWE account guard saying someone was accessing my account from a different PC

If you didn't get those messages then someone TRIBBLE your e mail.

I feel terrible for anyone who has had this problem, especially with such a rare and valuable item. Of all the things to get accidentally deleted after a game error, an Attack Ship...

However, you have to understand this from their point of view. Unless they actually do have some way of looking at the history of one's inventory or bank logs, and whether or not they discarded items, used them, or sold them, then they have no idea if you're telling the truth or not. For all they know, you could just be making this whole thing up to get a free ship.

As I said, I'm very sorry, but there really isn't anything Cryptic can do. If they start handing out free ships to those who have legitimately lost them somehow, then many more people would start asking, then people who thought it was deleted when it really wasn't, ending up with a double, and then there would be those scammers that would slip through, getting ships for nothing.

At least they could have given you 50 keys or something so you could try your luck again! :D If I find a ship box in the ESD couch cushions I'll let you know.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

I am sorry but the "nothing we can do" is garbage. Now, the correct answer may be a legit one such as "we can't afford to pay enough people to handle this type of issue --- it would take 150 full time employees doing nothing but handling undelete requests". That would be a real response, and it might stink, but it would make sense and anyone who has every worked with people would understand the why of it.

But "nothing we can do" is like saying "our computers are really mechanical relay devices". I have played any number of games where the customer service would fix a problem like this one -- they verify you had the item and did not sell it for money, and poof, you get a new one and a warning to be more careful in the future (in cases of accidental deletion or vendoring). There IS something they can DO: track the data, review it, and restore the item -- other games do it, and it CAN be done. They may not be able to afford this level of customer service or something, but "nothing we can do" is a weakly worded versions of "we WILL NOT do that".

S*** happens when they roll back the server because it had an aneurysm. But they still should be able to sift through your history to figure out what was there and what was not.

and you know this how? for all you know, they really CAN'T figure out what was obtained in the pack and what the character had/has in their inventory.

agree with you on this they should be able to track it . and like you stated many other games would replace it and give ya a warning to be careful next time .

but to be clear i did not mail it vendor it or delete it it just simply vanished .. how or why i have no clue . and in all honesty that was the first time i opened a ticket on this game beside reporting someone . and i have been around for some time now playing this game without any real issues till now . from what i read in older threads on issues like this this has been their policy from the start and i really think it should be changed . after all should at least try to keep your player base happy .. and im not happy right at this moment

Why would a rollback make the ship disappear ? If all the server data was reset to a previous time, wouldn´t that mean that the actual pack or the zen would be back ?

And what random server bug targets a single item (highly in demand and worth hundreds of millions of ec) and nothing else ? ;)

well if they can not then they need to learn how to simple as that .every game that i played keeps a record they can even tell where you been .

for example world of ******** doing a raid win a token from a roll . token doesnt appear in bag .. write a ticket . they seen you were in the raid and won the roll but no trace of token .. what do they do ? give you the token lol .. its just bad for bizz you spend cash to get zen use zen to get said items and items vanish for no reason and they tell you opps sorry about your bad luck how would you feel? lol

Dude I do not give out sympathy readily but you can have plenty.
I've been shooting for that ship since I started and if I got it and somehow lost it I don't know if I could ever log in again. I really mean that.
There SHOULD, if there isn't already, be a system to track such items in inventorys and it worrys me slightly that this is their customer service on the issue, especially considering the rarity of the item.
That really *insert expletative here* sucks dude :(

Mmo operators have to keep backups months into the past, if they don't, whoever's in charge needs to be fired on the spot for incompetence. Since Cryptic do rollbacks in server crashes, they obviously do know. And btw, after rollbacks are done, current data until the point of reboot is still kept for diagnostics. In this business, EVERYTHING is kept for record.

i thought about it .. the leaving the game but that is just childish to me anyways . besides i would miss my fleet mates lol .

best thing to do is just not open the wallet any more for this game . not going to spend my cash and have something come up missing again . i will just stick to grinding dill and exchanging it for zen , then if i lose anything again it will just be my time. tho i would rather not lose anything at all for my time and cash :(

The roll back would reset the server, everything, including player activity to what it was. If this was a roll back issue, then the JHAS would be gone and the survivor pack would be returned IF the pack was purchased before the time the roll back was set to. If he purchased it at 2 pm and the roll back was set to 1 pm that same day then he would not get the pack returned.

I played another game that had to do an emergency roll back, They reset 24 hours.

So in sto if this had been done Everything you did in the last 24 hours would be gone. Every Mark earned all Dilithium Earned any Projects started, any purchases you made xp, Trades' etc. GONE

this is why a Rollback would have made the ship disappear. Oh yea and if he did get the Doff pack back. He has the exact same chance of getting nothing as he had the first time.

i seriously doubt that we had a roll back tho . as i stated i did have it 2 days prior to the server being down for 8 hours. and it was in inventory the night before when i logged out

As you say in my case it would probably only be fleetmates that kept me in the game, though my heart might not be in it so much.
I hope this gets sorted for you man as I fear constantly grinding dilithium may over time detract from your overall enjoyment of the game, I think it would if it were me.
This just SUCKS that they just bumped you off with that response, and to my mind your clarity on the issue should at least warrent a detailed look on their part.

Cryptic is lying to you if they tell you they cant check anything.

there is a log gen subline command in the in the account log for every activity that any character on that account does that can be posted on the global or fleet news tabs and also for the sale and purchase of every crytic point/zen, a copy of any key bind active is also on the account and for if the bind is a document file then it can be read remotely if the character it is active on is logged in.

Cryptic won't care until someone files a lawsuit and/or a legislator drops a bunch of anti-corporate legislation on the table dealing with their virtual goods distribution model particularly given the whole "online gambling" aspect of it.

That aside, I quoted volunteer moderator askray's publicly posted comment within another thread and their buddy syberghost rode in to the rescue by editing my post and slapping me with a "pseudo-warning" for "violating forum rules by posting private correspondence" in spite of the fact none of the content was private.

synnbad, what bets do you want to place on that -never- happening to your thread (in spite of the obvious fact that you posted private correspondence)?

Are you absolutely sure it's nowhere in any of your inventories, bank or account bank? If you had it for two days it's definitely not a roll back.

Do you delete things from your inventory? I personally never do, but if you do there's a chance, however slim, that you accidentally deleted it.

It wouldn't have disappeared on it's own for no reason, not if you had it for two days. It's either somewhere in one of your inventories or it was accidentally deleted.

Why would I want to continue playing a game where CSR refused to help restore the most expensive (and arguably desirable) item in the entire game after their servers crapped out for nearly an entire day? That's if it was due to a roll back mind you.

am pretty sure that i did not delete it, mail it, vendor it, or place it in any of my banks and i have looked on all my 10 alts none of them have it either . and i'm very careful with my gear. i have stuff in inventory still that's been sitting there for very long time lol.. and even so they should still be able to find it and return it for me if i had did such a thing.
