Does anyone know why it is not wanted that our boffs wear anything else then a standard uniform?
No one's ever come out and told us it's not wanted. It's just really strongly hinted at through institutional discouragement.
But it is really silly to insinuate that certain individuals would never ever wear certain clothes. There's definitely not a single scenario ever where my tac officer with all his grenade powers would want to wear a mercenary outfit bandoleer with grenades on it...
So, been playing around with some of the changes on Tribble, and I have to say, thoroughly impressed by it. Kit visuals are one of the reasons why I play Federation (or Federation-aligned Romulan), and the additions to the tailor are very nice.
Of course, it does seem like there could be some areas of improvement (some of the Science kit visuals missing the holographic armor bits, limited color options/errors), but all in all, can't wait for this to go live.

so insted of just right clicking on your armor...kit...to show the visual you like wasting a outfit slot for that kind of stuff......meh
(if you can tell, im not in favor of this change....)

That's the thing though, it's not just "some armor" or "some kit", this allows for complete customization of both visuals, down to the style of armor and color of kit pieces. While I think that taking out the "click to show visuals" wasn't a smart idea, I think that this is very much an improvement.
Well, I gotta ask...does this mean the Foundry tailor is going to get kits & armour?
I am NikkoJT, Foundry author and terrible player. Follow me!
There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.

Its not even that everything outside the "uniform" section is off duty.
Why would a Captain wear the Mercenary in his free time? Its a combat outfit, and if the Captain has it, why wouldn't the rest of his away team in a combat mission.

Agreed. Why not both, kit visuals as turn on/off AND the options in the tailor?

Same for the Omega sets.

This isn't an official answer, but because they're always on duty? You can't take them to social zones, only missions.
You can take them to the "social" area on new romulus.
As others have mentioned maco and omega force outfits aren't standard uniforms either and i'm pretty sure you can take your boffs into combat :P

They're afraid giving everyone's boffs a second costume slot will break their already overloaded database servers, I think. That may not seem like a lot of data... but it potentially could be, if everyone availed themselves.
Add me to the list of people who like using Omega and MACO gear visuals on boffs. I hope that ability is retained, or a boff version of the costume unlocks is added.
Also, while you're adding things to the tailor, Cryptic, can you please make the Lobi-store Ferengi jackets function on KDF characters?
The Sci hologram parts need red and its variants as color options. They already have green, blue, and yellow options. Would love to see red, purple, pink (Oh, excuse me Donut, lightish red) and orange.
Fantastic. I hope they let us use everything on boffs.
I did note that it has a mix of the branches and I hope that's NOT an oversight, it's fun combining them! My demonstration combines the arm armor off a tac kit, the energy chest plate off a sci kit, and a few gadgets from eng kits.(I colored all the kit pieces lime green)

Yay!!! I can finally make my science captain and crew look like a Ghostbusters.
Those portraits on the left and right of your character. Extremely distracting when your mouse flies over them and your character suddenly looks like a pig. Can't they be minimized?

The sci holo kits look lovely with the Dyson researcher uniforms.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I also hope we can get rid of the stupid, STUPID on-duty/off-duty uniform setup.
Just give us costume slots and you can make your character (or your BOFF) look like whatever you want them to look like. Mix the off-duty mercenary boots and Kahn helmet with dress pants and a uniform top from TNG if you want!
The bottom line is that PWE shouldn't me limiting what the players can do when it comes to something that essentially boils down to playing with dress up dolls.

Agreed. I never use them, thus they're an inconvenience most of the time.
so I'm loving the way we can now edit the kit visuals, Its great being able to combine the holographic wrist displays with tactical gear to get a nice look
Heres a little something i came up with
Pretty reserved , just an oddy uniform with some combat gear, but I think the effect even some of the basic kit pieces can have on the visuals are really good
( though it would be great to get better colour palettes and all the parts unlocked for BOFFs, since they are missing the Chest gear)
this was something a little different, but shows how much fun these New-Old kits can be with the dyson outfit, the old things can still gel nicely with new assets in interesting ways
Surgical scrubs perhaps?

How come this isn't the obvious solution?

But that's not even Canon! Lots of times officers were shown off duty, and many characters weren't members of Starfleet in the first place.

I miss the old tailor.
or this one
Where the hell did you get the Dyson Uniform from? I know T3 Spire has a Tailor unlock, but this is called Voth Science Uniform or so?
Looks incredible
Ohhh myyy gooood... wow
