I actually have started a channel called Star Trek Battles that runs along your idea just that you can use ANY ship you want. It has been so much fun and there are some guidelines but the main goal of it is to have fun and it has been for me and the feedback has been very positive.
So to capemike4 and bugspatteredjack I suggest looking at my thread
and if your interested, or anyone really, lmk and just leave me your @handle.
Mine is trizeo@trizeo1
I've actually been reading that thread....
Do we -have- to use race-specific weapons? My only issue is that, as a Free/Silver player, I pretty much just have to go with whatever I can get my hands on, weapons and equipment-wise...; EC can sometimes be an issue for me, as I refuse to farm Foundry missions(matter of honor) on principle.
But I'm sure it'll still be fun!
On a semi-related note, while I agree with the sentiment of the original poster, my feeling is that, as long as you're pulling your weight in an stf, I see no real problem with flying whatever you'd like...I still, at times, get people surprised I'm bringing in my Nebula Refit(Fleet model) into Elite stuff...they tend to stop complaining after I save their skidplates a few times or pin down some Borg Probes long enough to deal with them....
Next thing you'll know, there'll be people who only want you to run escorts and as tacts. If the player pulls weight as good as the average pug, I'm ok with fighting a whole squadron of Centaurs.
I am not going to say he shouldn't or should be doing what he did.
The problem is the content. These stfs are suppose to be end game and they have become sad jokes where taking a t1 ship in is the only way to create a real challenge. There needs to be more end game content and content that will challenge players. Cryptic is failing at that hard, they seem either unable to create content that is a challenge to players or they are afraid of doing so. Either way, this is a sign of the problem but not the main problem. Taking t1 ships into end game content should get you roflstomped but right now you can do it and still expect to win.

The content only seems like it's too easy because most players only go for the absolute best gear that does the highest possible damage and does it really fast and to multie targets at once. None of them even consider challenging themselves and using a tier 4 or 3 version of their ship, or lower level gear, or even an entirely different setup and build. Nope, the game has to change to suit them and their uber builds.

Of course they go for the best gear, this is a mmo. That's what your suppose to do in pretty much any other mmo.
New content comes out, you gear up for it to be ready for the next challenge and it goes on and on. That's the model pretty much every mmo has other then STO. STO you gear up for....?
Your ideas while fine and a way to help provide challenge doesn't address the basic problem. That there's not enough new content that's come out and there's not enough content out there for people to be getting a challenge. The game is really lacking in a end game.
Speaking of Miranda's.....Remember the Battle in I think "All good things" where the Defiant is trying to break through the Jem'Hadar lines to get to DS9 and the Freedom and the Majestic (Mirandas) are the Defiants wingmen? That would be a cool featured episode. You have to be in one of the Mirandas and protect the defiant until it breaks through the lines. Make it like you found the Orb of time on Bajor and it sent you back to that battle. You have to run around DS9 and gather parts and crew to upgrade and load out one of these old girls for battle. And hopefuly you can do better than the other two ships did in the show.
tier 2 Enterprise class..I think sto calls it exeter class
Took it to elite infected pug and fleet runs over a month
only got 1 shotted by the cube a few times in over 25 runs avg dps was 2500
used my Romulan Tac Character and 4 romulan bridge officers/SRO's
almost always i was not the lowest in dps outclassing tier4 and 5 ships
make these ships have T4 varients and i would fly one all of the time They did it for the D-7
yes i said tier 4
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Not running STFs yet, as still relatively new but in the Borg red alerts I personally much rather seeing lower level ships that are trying than Avengers that are obviously AFK or not trying at all. More infuriating yet is people who warp out at the first sign of trouble (ie things taking too long) - awesome way to TRIBBLE over those who stay behind to finish the fight.
With so many scimitars that can complete ISE in two minutes, I really fail to see the problem with using a T1 ship.
Heck, I've taken T5 ships into ISE and felt useless thanks to those OP scimitars. So what's the difference? If scimitars are killing everything before anyone else can do much, what difference does taking a T1 ship in make?
Lol, yeah. I know how you feel. There are times where I've taken my Scimitar into an ESTF (this one runs DHCs... HERESY I KNOW!!!), and still felt like I was superflous. Or overkill. Basically not necessary.

Which is why you run a high DPS ship. That way, if/when that happens, you can still win with relative ease.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.

That would need a 100% certainty that someone like that is every time in the q with the t1 ship. And thats not the case.
I'd always be up for fun actions like that if they are planned....
But in an open STF-Q this should be forbidden, sorry.
You wouldn't get hate from me, I'd just leave if i'd see someone doing that. And he'd end on my igno. I understand that you are bored, but other are not and do that for marks and depend on a team. And you are ruining their game. And that is a very antisocial behavior.
Your comment is antisocial... It's just a game. Lighten up & let people enjoy it. If you don't like it, then you go form a private Q w/ your friends. What? You don't have friends? Sorry to hear that, maybe you should cut down on the antisocial comments in the forum...
