Why the &^%$ would Cryptic make this appear in the HUD Configuration for the free Dyson ship if they never intended to allow us to use it. In my opinion, this feature should never have been included in the free version if they required you to have the premium Zen Store versions.

It just sounds like poor planning and poor follow through on their part. It's like providing a ship for purchase through the Zen store but not allowing anyone to purchase it.

    It makes absolutely no sense.

Thats the way cryptic works, since you seem to be new to the game, yo need to be aware of it. Every "gift" comes nerferd, lets say that way, so you will always need to waste zen to have the fully and useful version.

I'm not new to the game. Been playing since day one it went F2P. AND, to "nerf" something, it needs to be already in play, Cryptic then becomes aware of it, and then nerfs it. They don't do that in reverse.

The Dyson ships, or rather the special ability tray, came packaged up, with the ability tray unavailable. Considering that Cryptic still cannot figure out how to fix the problem they created with the KDF and Rommie/KDF uniform changes, it's obvious that new features of the game are being released already broken, glitched and bugged.

The fact is, Cryptic should be beta testing this stuff before they release it and they aren't even addressing the issues with the game on the website. Take a look at Defera. Defera is so bugged and players are taken advantages of every exploit in the Invasion Zone that everyone seems to be turning a blind eye to gamers exploiting obvious glitches that the GM's, Community Managers and Moderators and the Devs are well aware of.

This game needs a complete overhaul because seeing as how STO is infested with glitches, bugs and exploits, you would think that these problems with the game would have been addressed by now. There was a period of time, before 8.5, where for 2-3 weeks, we got no new patches for the game.

One would expect the devs to have been working on these bugs and glitches ...

Is anyone sure the special tray is actually supposed to be there?

The only other place it has ever appeared is in the Sphere of Influence mission while controlling the Obelisk, and I don't believe the Obelisk gets a special tray when you use it.

I got the impression it's only really for these missions where you get some temporary ability.

If it's not then why place it there in the first place. This is the same tray that appears during the Tuvok mission, which is similar to the Romulan special abilities tray for the various Romulan Warbirds.

The "romulan special abilities tray" is actually the singularity tray, a totally different UI widget.

The only 2 places in the game that I'm aware of this "special tray" being used are when you temporarily control the ships in Sphere of Influence and A Step Between Stars.

I suspect it's only there to make it easier to use the ship that one time.

It doesn't show yet, I'm pretty sure this will only show up once you have the C Store version, but that is just a guess

It's gotta be bug. At least it looks like a bug, and I certainly hope it is.

The abilities that are supposed to show in the special tray (Advanced Metaphasic Shields and Tactical Mode) are both showing in my regular tray and working as intended whenever I activate them.

However, no amount of clicking or relocating the tray in the HUD setup will make it show up. In A Step Between Stars the tray will dissapear on occasion, but going to the HUD setup and just clicking on it will fix it; not this time. Also notice that it doesn't have a show/hide control like all the other elements in the setup.

So, again, I'm going to assume it's a bug. For now. It's really frustrating having finally finished the stupid two week grind only to find your prize ship is bugged.

Hopefully a dev will clarify this soon.

    Cheers.

    Yes. Exactly.

This has been commented on back when Sphere of Influence released and people were confused by the fact that they didn't get the same tray upon getting their regular Obelisk, and received a dev response.

I just bought the store bundle and the special tray is still not activated so there goes that theory.

As my post - the one just above yours, I might add - has explained: working as intended.

I could understand and go with that if it wasn't for the fact that the Dyson Science Destroyer (non C-store) comes equipped with a "Solanae Dual heavy Proton Cannons [ACC] [CRTH]x2" That states in it description Cannot unequip, Only active in Tactical Mode. So if the free version is NOT suppose to have the special tray why have the DHC bound to the ship?? Waste of a ship if you can not activate it!!

The activate tactical mode option is just another skill that you drag to your skill bar.

You dont need any special try for anything. The special skills that comes with the cstore versions are just another skills as well. I dont see the point on add another skill try. Stop crying about this, seriously.. lol.

People will never understand, that when you see the ships in the special episode, its impossible to display all the skills from all the boffs in your skill try. Just impossible, so cryptic decided to add an extra skill try, just only for that, because there was no more space.

I hope this is more clear now.

You should have told him about the "P" button too,,especially that it opens the power window where all the funny little power icons are.

We just have to few special bars..

My assumption is that tray is only used during the FE so they can guarantee you have the powers shown. When you get dumped into a random 'mission ship' your power tray is just filled randomly, so the chances are that you'd never have been aware of the Dyson's special abilities during that mission. Providing that separate tray meant they could add the powers there. Sadly, the normal ship is working as intended and you just drag the powers to your normal power bar.
