Yes there are a lot of negatives about this game. There are a lot of threads dedicated to pointing them out, and I am vocal on these threads when i find something I don't like. But there's also a lot to love about this game - I'm not saying about Cryptic or PW, but this game.
The duty officer system has me addicted. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I absolutely love it. I've recently discovered the easily discoverable foundry. i stayed away from it because I mistakenly thought it was a waste of time - some subpar missions not created by the devs - BOY was I WRONG! Some of these missions are BETTER than anything Cryptic has made (XR-377 i'm looking at you!) (also, sorry for not calling anyone else out, like I said I'm new to the foundry). Borg alerts are fun, it adds a feeling of a living world where you're going about your scheduled mission and are called away for an emergency only you (and everyone else) can handle.
Those are just a few off the top of my head, but just in general, I'm flying around in my own fed (or kdf) ship, experiencing the Star Trek universe! I'm a captain, one of many, sworn to protect my alliance and further my faction's cause! There isn't a day that goes by where i'm not excited to log into STO and fly around this universe.
When that feeling ends I'll turn in my bars and mothball my ships, but not until then. If you don't feel this kind of joy logging in to STO, you may be ready to retire your captain.
That i can work on DOFF missions while I'm travelling from one place to another. or if I want to warp to a mission, i can, and then transwarp back to ESD.
I like the variety of ships., characters, and uniforms
I love Star Trek and always have. Series movies books and comic books. I tried Star Trek online because it was free and wanted to see how my new computer would handle the game and graphics. It handles very well. What I love most is the starships and bridge officers. The options and customization. This game has hiccups but overall I am happy to be playing and meeting other fans of Star Trek and mmporg. Now if only we could get a Terran Empire faction....well I created my own Terran character.
I am being dead serious. Can anyone say something good about this game without the obligatory "I like this but..."? Is like this thread to be dedicated to that. There are plenty of QQ threads out there, you can even start your own. For this thread let's hear the stuff cryptic has gotten right - and that's it. I'm not being forced to play this game and I certainly haven't bought a game that has kept me this entertained for this long - ever. I feel no need to spend any money on it but have chosen to. So, with that, I will start:
The space combat is intense and easily, hands down, my number one favorite part of this game. There's just so much to learn. I've never played a game where I strived to be better at it.
Some of the missions I have played have been freaking intense and I loved them. I typically don't enjoy replaying missions but the vault, the assault on DS9 and coleseum (ive know that isn't spelled right bit I blame my phone and dyslexia) come to mind.
The foundry seems like the coolest idea ever for an online game. I am saving that for later, if I ever get bored shooting borg for dil.
All in all I feel the balance is pretty darn good for free to play. I don't feel I need to play to win and that makes spending money on the game feel like i am supporting it rather than trying to get a foot up.
The look of the game is pretty impressive and I feel it will only get better. The architecture in the vault was just WOW. I spent ten minutes just flying around outside.
So that's what I got in the small amount of time I have for my break. Anyone else want to show some positive feedback?
NO. I am being dead serious. And this is a super necro post.
A lot of us complain about this game here in the forums it's true, but we complain becasue we love this game and want to see it fix it's problems so it can do even better.
I like the Dyson reputation. The pacing seems pretty good for moving 3 lvl 50s through the course. Ironically, I hear the new top dog at Cryptic does not like it.
I also like the Dyson ground fights, and hope they bring more like this, with even more variety and random elements, into any future projects.
I like the potional this games has and its growth ability once the managment opens its eyes past lock box ships and looks at end game content which hasent been released yet..................
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Who, in their right mind, goes 2 years back on forums for an MMO !?!?!?
What page was this on !?!?!?
I don't mind necromancy sometimes. people complain if you necro people complain if you post same topic a million times. somebody is always gonna complain about something. way I see it if the post is relevant but has gone stagnate why not raise it from the dead? better than creating yet another post on same topic. I mean if they didn't want us to see the old posts, we wouldn't be able to search threads, and the old ones would lock after time.
so yes this was raised from the dead (maybe bad form).
but the necromancer did search the threads for a topic that interested him (good form).
people complain ( typical form ).
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
you would have to blame it on the search feature
people see the title but never see the date of the
post to see how old it is.
Not using these old threads is one of several incomprehensible forum rules since they cover the same info and get the same pageviews as a new thread and no ad revenue gets lost.
Game is great, Great content,
but i wish they would add the pvp content that is on neverwinter
to star trek online, a unique version of gauntlgrym and all that jazz.
but i think thats to much for the developers. seeing how all they
can do is design a shuttle pvp that no one plays. well when i look
up the pvp queue no one play's it. that is all lol.

I like the broken tricorder emote!
Your first clue should have been the 'Archived Post' avatars.
No one likes a zombie.
NO. I am being dead serious. And this is a super necro post.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Officially Nerfed In Early 2410
Now if only we could find some concentrated industrial-strength necromancer repellent.
I think you can get one in New Romulus black market
The music is good, though it could use more of it since it gets a bit repetitive. Nevertheless, the music does create the feeling of Star Trek.
You get to play a number of different Star Trek races or create your own.
You can fly a Romulan warbird.
You can play with friends or alone at you whim. There's no requirement for multiplayer outside of the PvE queue and PvP.
There's space combat.
You can name your own ship and crew.
You can design your crew's uniforms.
You can join a fleet and have access to a fleet base.
I didn't read the whole thread, so some of these things may have been said. These are the ones that come to my mind when I think about the question.
Edit: And if I had read the thread, I'd have noticed it's a necro....

This game has the best aerial combat that I've ever played.
It's made by people who at least know the IP, if not love it. Tribbles are annoying (in many ways), for instance - just like they should be.
Also, it's good to see the stories of Worf, Tuvok, Sela, and countless others continue.
And dare I say it: NO LENS FLARE.

In short halfhearted efforts to improve game mechanics.
Measure twice cut once.
The only problem is STO measures once cuts 5.
